16.01.2022 HI All. This is a particularly noxious pest and will affect everyone. Important - please do not ignore. Even if your cargo has not been affected by the BMSB requirements in the previous seasons, they may be now - there have been major changes !... REF: Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season 2018 - 2019 Summary : - Season in place : 1 September 2018 to 30 April 2019 inclusive - Australian Quarantine (DAWR) have increased for the pending season: High risk countries - additional European countries added High risk commodities - affected tariff items increased and now very broad Target risk commodities - affected tariff items increased and now very broad - All modes of transport affected with the exception of air (thus far). - "High Risk" commodities sent as LCL, break bulk, in open top or on flat rack containers must be treated offshore, by one of three approved methods and by approved vendors. - "High Risk" commodities sent as FCL (full container load) or FCX (full container consolidated) must be treated (offshore or onshore), by one of three approved methods and by approved vendors. - "Risk" commodities will be subject to increased scrutiny upon arrival to Australia and will be directed for treatment if BMSB is detected. - DAWR requirements are evolving and being updated constantly. - Additional costs and possible delays to apply. - New Zealand have similar measures in place. For details, please review : http://www.agriculture.gov//pe/brown-marmorated-stink-bugs As LCL/FAK (Freight All Kinds) containers from the target countries are affected, your LCL shipments may need to be treated. Even if your goods are not "high risk" or (or even "risk"), they may need to move in a container that has to be treated due to the nature of the other cargo being packed. You will be asked to sign a consent form to treat your shipment. If you are unsure if the treatment will affect your goods, please consult with the supplier for their advice. There are three approved types of treatment, which one will apply to any given shipment will depend on a number of factors. We will continue to provde updates as any additional information is provided. Of course you can always contact our office to discuss further.
