23.01.2022 Everything is a little different at Ryde Athletics this year. Just as the rest of the world has needed to alter everyday routines, we have needed to change a few things too. So lets clear up some confusion. ... *Everyone must check IN and OUT of Dunbar park when attending and leaving each week. This includes parents/guardians and children/athletes. *Check in/out is completed by scanning any one of the numerous QR codes located at the entrance and exit of the park. Use the EVA App (Apple App - evacheck.in/apple Android App - evacheck.in/android) or the camera function on your phone to complete the check in/out process. *Only 1 parent can attend per family and no unregistered siblings *The parent that attends will need to assist on the field. We have numerous events, and all of them need parental help to run. You do not need to have previous experience, there will be someone to guide you. *Children must not be left at Dunbar Park unattended Make sure you follow signage and enter and exit the park as per map below. *This season there is to be no spectators. *Enjoy the Little A's 20/21 season! If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch via social media or email [email protected] See you on the track!

We just wanted to clear up any confusion as to why the coaching is only in some events and not all events. ... There are 2 main reasons; 1) Availability of qualified and trained coaching volunteers* And 2) We wanted to focus on training the athletes in the new, riskier and more difficult events for their age groups so they can start the season with confidence. We have one more week of our coaching sessions this Saturday 26/09 before we begin fully (with points) on Saturday 10/10 *If anyone is interested in becoming involved in coaching there are plenty of vacancies for this rewarding task! 06.01.2022 This has been doing the rounds for years! But everytime I read it I think to myself, exactly!! Original source unknown "One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to do all their sports? Well I have a confession to make; I don't pay for my kids to to do sports. Personally, I couldn't care less about what sport they do.... So, if I am not paying for sports what am I paying for? - I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't. - I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go to their training but they go anyway. - I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated. - I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body and equipment. - I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates, gracious in defeat and humble in success. - I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that placing or title they'd hoped for, but still they go back week after week giving it their best shot. - I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals. - I pay for my kids to respect, not only themselves, but other riders, officials and coaches. - I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight. - I pay for my kids to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals. - I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories, to be as proud of their achievements as I am. - I pay so that my kids can be out on the track instead of in front of a screen... ...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for sports; I pay for the opportunities that sports provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!"

05.01.2022 Thanks to those who came down today to learn more about helping out on the track!! During September there will be more opportunities to learn! We are looking for more people to learn how to manage the computer systems at the timing gates and a few more starters. If this is something that interests you come and speak to a committee member and we'll point you in the right direction.

05.01.2022 We need helpers for set up tomorrow If you weren't able to attend your rostered age groups set up OR if you are keen to help again please meet us at 7am at the track! Sign up - https://signup.com/go/yhYwYmG

05.01.2022 I'm breaking my own rules and doing a personal post on our Centres page But this is me signing out! Just over two years ago I attended my first committee meeting and said that I thought we should have a Facebook page. The reply was "Well do you want to be the publicity manager? You can set one up" I went home that night and set it all up! The support from the beginning was overwhelming. I'm so glad that i was able to bring this form of communication to Ryde Athletic's! ... I've gotten to know many of you through comments and messages on this page, I'm grateful for the community it's opened me up to! I'll see you all around at the track! I can't wait to put my focus on my new roll in the committee So I'm handing you all over to Briana. I look forward to what she can bring to this roll and I know you'll all support her as much as you have me. Cheers, Donna

05.01.2022 An e mail has just been sent to your inbox! Check your junk if you can't see it and be sure to save the address! If you didn't get it you can see it here and subcribe to future e mails!

04.01.2022 Things are going to look a little different at Dunbar thanks to Covid this season. Here is an outline of entry and exit points for Saturday Mornings

03.01.2022 It's forecast to be hot on Saturday so make sure athletes/volunteers bring water and are wearing sunscreen and a hat! Ryde Athletics committee will refer to the Little Athletics NSW hot weather policy and will make the final decision about whether or not it is too hot to compete at any stage during our Saturday morning events.

03.01.2022 The first in our series of video clips in the lead up to "Ryde Relays"! Here, Aaron shows us the ground markings for baton changeovers.

03.01.2022 Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our delivery of uniforms hasn't yet arrived As a result we won't be selling uniforms at our collection day tomorrow (1pm-3pm) We are hopeful that the uniforms will be here before the end of the month, but unfortunately we can't make any promises. As soon as they arrive we will arrange a time for people to collect and purchase their uniforms. ... Thank you in advance for your understanding.

03.01.2022 What if it is raining? This is a common question during the Little A's season... Luckily we have the answer for you! ... Due to the low impact nature of athletics and the excellent drainage system at the track, council gives us permission to make the decision about conducting events at Dunbar Park. (We are not classed as a sports ground so even if council closes other Sports Grounds it doesnt mean we are closed.) We will only cancel competition if the track is deemed unsafe to conduct any events. We have a wet weather program that we can use if necessary. If we do need to cancel due to weather, cancellations will be posted to TeamApp, Facebook and on the website (ryde-athletics.org.au) by 7:30am on the morning of competition. TL:DR - Assume Little A's will go ahead unless notified otherwise

02.01.2022 Well that was an almost perfect way to start our 2021 season! Congratulations to all athletes that tried their best today Thanks to Fitzy & Wippa and Nova 96.9 Weis van for the delicious treats! ... 02.01.2022 Are you ready for the new season? Does your Athlete need new shoes? Any running shoes will do! Just as long as they are comfortable.. You can buy shoes called "waffles" that are desinged for Althetics. Under11 and above may wear spikes if they wish, they don't have to. But remember if you do wear them that they can't be worn between events or at all events. Make sure your Athlete has a bag to carry them around in. Spikes CAN NOT be worn by Under 10 and under.

01.01.2022 Are you as excited to get started tomorrow as we are? We need help to set up the field so that all our athletes can get the very best start to the season! Click the link below to add your details if you are able to help ... For the first 3 weeks it will be all hands on deck for set up and pack up

01.01.2022 Save the date for State Championships!

01.01.2022 There is just one Committee Position left to fill!! And to be honest it's probably the most fun :) Its the publicity and communications position. ... Whats that you ask? Well its doing this. Looking after the Facebook and Instagram Page. Creating club e mails. Sending out alerts on Team App. Updating the club website when needed. Promoting the club at the start of season. It sounds overwhleming, I get it. But I have loved this role! Its been such a great role to get to know everyone and I don't want to give away any secrets but I've put a lot of things in place during my time here to make things easier. I am willing to teach you my ways! After two years in the role I feel that I have done all I can and its time for someone else to take it on and put their spin on it. I've also taken on another role in the committee. One that I'm excited to take on and I want to put my attention on that, but its hard while i'm doing two roles! So if you want to know more, message the page. I'm happy to chat with you about it. Donna xx
