13.01.2022 ***E-Petition is Closing 14 August 2020*** Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board have lodged an e-petition for the legislative council to consider our request that the Minister and Department reclassify the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley LGAs to regional. This action has been taken due to the sheer frustration that the businesses and community in the Mornington Peninsula have with the inequity that exists with the current classification. This has been exasperate...d with the close down. Over the past 8 years we have consistently raised the fact that we as a region receive less support than other regions, this includes no access to Regional Development Victoria, no regional concessions for payroll tax, no government support for regional training to name but a few examples. After hearing from many of you yesterday, we decided that continuing to ask the machinery of government to address this issue was a waste of our time. Therefore, we have opted to try to get the elected officials to consider the request via the established petition system. We hope that the process will illustrate to our elected officials that as a community we are not treated equitably and that they will act to rectify this circumstance. We ask that you consider signing the petition and sharing it with your networks.
