25.01.2022 And that’s a wrap! RYLA 2020 concluded yesterday, releasing 40 young participants equipped with leadership skills and potential, back into their occupations and places of study. We were so privileged to provide them with this experience and trust that the lessons learnt will not be in vain. Looking forward to hearing about all that 2020 has in store for these young leaders!
24.01.2022 Meet our enthusiastic RYLArians at Camp Yarramundi this week, and our great leaders too.
20.01.2022 Not long to go now! What a great week we have planned with exciting speakers. Liz O'Brien is a speaker, author, coach and corporate executive, born and bred in the city of Wollongong. She is no stranger to feeling stuck in her life; there was a time when she didn't know what she wanted let alone how to get there. She knew she wanted more from life but just didn't know how to get there. Then she discovered the single thing that would change the course of her life; the power o...f decision making. She realized that the ability to make decisions is the greatest gift she had and that the key to living a successful, meaningful, beautiful life was right in the palm of her hand. It was entirely up to her... all she had to do was decide. Liz is now a successful, inspiring writer and speaker who has more than 20 years’ experience in business and leadership; having held senior executive leadership positions in the corporate world and having grown three successful businesses from the ground up. She has worked for clients such as People Care, TAFE NSW, LT ActiveWear, Toyota, KFC, BBQs Galore, PepsiCo, MLC and Nestle' and has helped people from CEO's to aspiring young leaders live life with meaning and purpose through her honest and powerful storytelling. She is trained in Tony Robbins Strategic Intervention Coaching and her mission right now is to continue connecting with and inspiring as many people as possible through her keynote speaking, to help change people's lives for the better.
20.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM! MEET BRIANA! - A RYPEN TEAM LEADER!! Briana is a self-confessed chatterbox, looking to learn a piece of gold from each and every one of you! Rand...om conversations are her specialty - eager to know what kitchen item you’d describe yourself as. She is a keen outdoor adventurer, but definitely not a stranger to a good Netflix marathon As a RYLA participant and a RYPEN team leader in 2018, Briana is unbelievably ecstatic to be back at RYPEN 9675 this year and is looking forward to sharing this amazing adventure with you!
17.01.2022 Hi All! One more sleep until RYLA 2020 commences! And yes, it is still going ahead as confirmed by the campsite staff. The nearest fires are quite far away. Having said that there is bound to be some hot days, so make sure that the participants have packed appropriately to be sun safe and ready (there is a pool!). Looking forward to meeting everybody and the journey that lies ahead!
16.01.2022 We are so excited to announce the return of one of our great alumni and 2019 leaders for the 2020 program! Hi! My name is Joanna and this will be my second year as a leader at RYLA. I have just completed my double degree at the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology). I’m working in Professional Standards and Safeguarding and am on the way to becoming a solicitor in 2020. I’m obsessed with travelling, all things reality TV, and am always around for a listen and a chat. RYLA is such a wonderful experience for you to focus on your own personal growth and development, and as a bonus you get to walk away with a whole new group of friends. I can’t wait to meet you all!
14.01.2022 Less than a week to go until RYLA 2020 kickoff! Through his organization, Deadly Science, proud Kamilaroi man Corey Tutt gathers donations of science resources, and sends them to remote schools around Australia. As well as receiving book donations from high-profile scientists such as Professor Brian Cox and Doctor Karl Kruszelnicki, Corey has raised more than $40,000 to purchase books and equipment, and distributed more than 5,500 books and 103 telescopes. Recently Corey wo...n young Australian of the Year for NSW and the AMP tomorrow maker awards for DeadlyScience. He is engaged with over 100 schools around Australia. In a recent survey, these schools showed a 25% increase in engagement in STEM-related subjects. Deadly Science has given 28 Deadly Junior Scientist Awards, encouraging young Indigenous kids to follow their dreams. Corey particularly wants to ensure that every remote Australian school has a copy of Bruce Pascoe's book Dark Emu a history of Indigenous science and agriculture to help educate them about the real story of Australia's past. Corey's actions inspire Indigenous children to believe in themselves, Corey is keen to secure the long-term future of the Deadly Science program by partnering up with other businesses working in this space and beyond

You could have said no, but you have decided to take a big stride toward developing a better version of yourself. I commend you for your courage and I promise that you won’t regret! My name is Leo and I have graduated from Sydney Uni. I work in real estate, do freelance interpreting and work at coles.... I love some me time with a coffee and a good read, as well as workout and pick-up basketball. Travelling is my lifelong passion because backpacking is money spent on education. 09.01.2022 Introducing the 2020 RYLA Coordinator Sarah Young! Sarah is a Primary School Teacher who is continually aspiring to have a social impact on the World in which she lives which can be seen through her volunteering experiences in Africa, Cambodia and within her local community. Sarah was awarded the Young Citizen of the Year in 2018 and named the Kiama Showgirl (which is a female ambassador role) in 2019. Sarah first became involved with Rotary by attending RYPEN in 2013 which s...he benefited from greatly. She then was lucky enough to be a participant at RYLA in 2018 which not only helped her develop a greater understanding of herself and the direction for her life, but gave her a greater understanding of others and what this means in terms of leadership. This experience allowed Sarah to see so much value in RYLA and led her to applying to be a team leader for 2019, where she mentored a team of 5 diverse participants throughout the week-long program. From here, Sarah was then appointed the Head Co-ordinator for RYLA for the 2020 program and has spent the last 10 months or so planning and preparing for the next lot of participants to come through with the hope that they can gain as much, if not more, from the program as what she did. 08.01.2022 Last but not least! Returning for RYLA 2020 and the final leader in this dynamic team! Hi my name is Elizabeth or Liz for short. I am an apprentice electrician, originally from QLD but now living in Sydney. I am a firm believer in experiencing as much as I can in life so I spend a lot of my time (when I'm not working or studying) trying different extra-curricular activities. I love playing team sports including, netball, volleyball and basketball. I am a massive foodie and a...n advocate for a good nap. I was a participant in RYLA 2018. I grew exponentially from this experience and what I gained in knowledge and skills in the short week was amazing! I took a leap of faith becoming a team leader last year to test out my new leadership skills and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! I am in awe of the potential of everybody around us and am so thrilled I get to witness their growth and assist in facilitating a new bunch of minds to be the best leaders they can be! I am looking forward to being a leader for RYLA 2020 and meeting a whole range of new personalities. See you in the new year fam!
01.01.2022 We are weeks away from RYLA 2020 and have an exciting new leader to introduce! Charbella is a Youth Worker who has just completed her Psychology degree, and is moving forward to become a registered psychologist. Throughout her uni life, Charbella participated in various volunteer projects, including a missionary trip to Cambodia to help build a school, providing food and company to homeless people through St. Vinnie’s Night Patrol, and helping organise RUOK? Day activities as... part of the UNSW student body. Charbella first became involved with RYLA as a participant in the 2019 camp. She was deeply inspired by the advice and life lessons of the speakers, and continues to enjoy the many friendships made. These positive experiences prompted her to become a leader for RYLA 2020, where she hopes she too can foster a team environment where participants can become the best leader they can be. See more
01.01.2022 Now it’s time to hear about some of our great group leaders! David was a member of the 2019 RYLA camp and loved every bit of it! Working in the sports industry, David enjoys helping people and making a difference in the lives of those around him. If David isn’t out with family and friends, you can find him at a Sydney FC, Sydney roosters or pretty much any sporting event on that week! David loves to travel and is always keen on travelling to new and exciting countries! David has a strong passion for youth and recently co-ordinated a week long regional drought tour that saw over 900 youth take part over 15 drought stricken towns in NSW.
