24.01.2022 Apologies, but I feel the need for another WARNING!! SHAR PEI BUYERS BEWARE If you are in the market for a Shar Pei puppy, please, please, please do your homework. Whilst I welcome the fact that other's are breeding nice Shar Pei's to help fill the current void of available puppies, I am very concerned about new families being ripped off and/or taken advantage of.... You should be particularly cautious of people that charge more for "Trendy" colours. These sort of people tend to be the ones that are after a $$ rather than the best home for the puppy. It costs NO MORE to breed a trendy colour -they are just preying on your emotions. Once a breeder places a higher monetary value on any puppy within a litter alarm bells should ring. Every puppy, regardless of colour, sex, coat type or size should receive the same care and attention as its siblings and therefore should be worth the same. Also, just so you are aware,the ANKC is the longest standing and ONLY Australian controlling body for pedigree dogs that is recognised throughout the world. Generally, people register with "Other bodies" (Such as MBDA) because they are not prepared/able to meet the stringent rules and ethical guidelines set down by the ANKC. OK, rant over.

Rynkls Shar Pei is in the unusual position of having one of our baby boy's looking to find a new family after his previously selected new dad has become unwell. Rossie is an absolute sweetheart and wants nothing more than to be a part of a loving family. He is 8 weeks old and ready to go now. 13.01.2022 RANT ALERT -Scroll on if feint hearted This is a Bear Coat Shar Pei that surprised us earlier this year at Rynkls. He is very cute and much loved. However, he is incorrect for a pedigree Shar Pei and is therefore not on the ANKC Mains Register and will NEVER be bred from. He cost no more to breed and did not require more attention than a standard Shar Pei. He was thoughtfully bred from Top Winning Show dogs and Imported bloodlines. He cost his happy family $3000 recen...tly -the going price for a thoughtfully bred Shar Pei in Australia. Paying huge prices to those that deliberately breed Bear Coats is the same as paying stupid prices for cross bred mutts. Please don't support irresponsible breeding -less you be part of the problem. OK, rant over....

07.01.2022 Paralysis Tick Warning In the last week we have treated three cases of tick paralysis already... Tick Paralysis or ‘toxicity’ occurs when ticks over a period of... time cause single organ toxicity, targeting the cardiac system, bladder and lungs etc. Severe paralysis generally sets in within a day to two weeks. The tick injects a poison into the dog or cat as it feeds, causing weakness, irritation, a change in pitch in the meow or bark, wobbliness and collapse. If you find a tick on your pet; Stay calm! This is the most important thing you can do for your pet, as affected animals cope poorly with stress or overheating. Contact a Vet immediately and arrange to bring your pet in. Do not wait until the next morning. Remove any visible ticks with a hook or tweezers (and search for more ticks if one is discovered) and try to keep your pet relaxed, quiet and cool. It is important to seek emergency care even if you remove the offending tick(s). The toxin typically continues to poison your dog or cat and timely treatment is still required. Paralysis Ticks can be avoidable so it is important to always use tick prevention and check your pet twice daily especially if you go to coastal areas. See more
