25.01.2022 Liuben has been at Saab for over 16 years now, and throughout this time has worked on a range of projects from the Civil, Land and Maritime domains. Now working as a Combat Systems Engineer on the Hunter Class Program, Liuben tells us his experience so far: The project has provided me a once in a lifetime opportunity being able to be involved in the design phase of such a major project. Just to be a part of the team who is involved with the design phase is quite unique becau...se I think the Hunter class frigates will be pivotal to the defence of the nation and its a great feeling knowing Im part of that solution. Its interesting seeing how quickly the design evolves and how everyone works together on one common goal. It can be a challenge, but I enjoy it and is good that we can learn from a team of highly skilled individuals. It also presents an opportunity for me to get involved with technologies that are at the cutting-edge of technical innovation. Id like to keep developing my technical and interpersonal skills so I can drive the projects Im involved in to a successful conclusion. Being actively involved in delivering a key capability is what I look forward to the most. #iworkatsaab

21.01.2022 After a decade of working in retail management, Greg Lang decided to make a career change into ICT. Once completing tertiary studies in Computer Systems Engineering, Greg landed a role within our ICT Infrastructure team: I have always been interested in the defence industry since I was a kid driving past Technology Park. I knew this was the place I wanted to work, so Im glad that Im here and can say I work for Saab. Our main product offering within our Civil team is our ...security system since its such a versatile package it can be used in a variety of places. One day Im working on a correctional facility and the next designing a network for a defence base upgrade. Its very rewarding to see a project through from beginning to end. I love the little things about being at Saab, like receiving a mug and chocolates on your first day, to the social club where our monthly BBQs give new starters opportunity to meet everyone or just to catch up with people from other parts of the business. Im looking forward to our new projects and working towards becoming an Infrastructure Engineer. #iworkatsaab #civil

21.01.2022 Over the weekend, our Saab team participated in the annual 2020 Walk for a Veteran with PTSD charity event. They proudly showed their support walking a staggering 36km through the Adelaide Hills and raising $4000, which will be matched by Saab to donate a total of $8000 to the charity. This years walk was especially close to home, winding through the terrain impacted by this summer's bush fires in the Adelaide Hills. That's why this year the event also supported our emergenc...y services, raising funds for both the Veteran and Emergency Services health support programs. Well done to everyone who participated! #teamsaab

20.01.2022 For Daniel, Systems Engineering Manager, Saab has given him the opportunity to work on global projects. Now, Daniel is on the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP): Ive seen Australias frigate program develop from ideas, to considering 3 ship designs, to a winner so being able to join the HCFP Combat Systems Integrated Project Team, with people from BAE Systems Australia, Lockheed Martin Australia and Saab Australia, was the next step. Its only the beginning and its exci...ting to see those initial ideas being realised. I work with the integrated project team who are responsible for the whole ship including the Aegis Combat Management System (CMS) and Saab Australian Interface (AI) and we're helping the customer decide on some of the weapons and sensors that will be controlled by the CMS and define what the CMS will do to meet the Royal Australian Navys needs. The HCFP is different because we are working collaboratively to help define the solution for Navy. Once the ships are in service it will be a proud moment knowing Saabs AI will be onboard controlling systems that we developed and integrated. This is a long term project and Id like to be part of the team that sets up a continuous upgrade process for the coming decades. #iworkatsaab

16.01.2022 When people ask me what I do for work I say, Im Q from James Bond and create mind-blowing equipment that cannot be discussed otherwise I have to dispatch you! Really, Im a Mechanical Engineer for the Underwater Group currently working on the Swedish submarine program and the Australian Collins class. Sam joined Saab as he was moving interstate from Melbourne to Adelaide: Saab welcomed me with open arms and gave me the ability to grow my knowledge by working on multiple... programs in different domains, which keeps me on my toes and constantly learning new skills. Outside of work, most people dont know that my partner and I are the proud owners of Squid the Griff Instagram famous page which shows the life of our two dogs, Squid and Pretzel which one reminds you of me? Saab has evolved over time, from being primarily a software house to developing in house capability for Mechanical and Electrical disciplines. What I like most about Saab is the ability to work on different projects and being a part of a larger Saab Australia family. "I'd like to continue to develop my leadership skills within the Underwater Group and move into either Project Management or an Engineering Manager in the future." #iworkatsaab

15.01.2022 Our Civil group is currently one of the fastest growing domains within Saab Australia, from integrated physical security systems, air traffic management, cyber security solutions and much more youll be surprised by how much our Civil group can offer. Jacqui de Lacy, Project Manager, shares how she thinks our Civil group differs from our defence domain: Civil projects are typically shorter than defence projects which makes for an interesting dynamic as the intensity height...ens when the projects deadlines approach. The work that we do means that we can provide innovative and contemporary solutions to a wide range of customers. Working with both private and public sectors, our solutions are helping to keep hospitals, prisons, public spaces and infrastructure safe. I really do think that Civil work is interesting, diverse and rewarding. Right now, our group is expanding fast which is fantastic! It means more opportunity to lead our teams to achieve goals in unique, changing and often challenging environments. As a Project Manager, Im lucky to work on a range of different projects which all aim to deliver quality products and services to our customer. #iworkatsaab #civil
