19.01.2022 WHAT EVEN IS GREY WATER? Well, I’m glad you asked. It’s a hot topic at the moment, and you’ve probably heard the word grey water thrown around quite a lot. And rightfully so, because it’s more important than ever to be hyper aware of our environmental impacts and how we can decrease them. You’ve stopped using straws and you’ve started donating your clothing , good for you. But now it’s time to take the next step it’s time to educate yourself on grey water.... So what is grey water? Grey water is the waste water from showers, washing machines, baths, and hand basins. Water from dishwashers and kitchen sinks is often referred to as dark grey water, because it has a higher load of chemicals, fats, and other organic matter. Meanwhile, water from toilets is called blackwater. It’s believed that just over 50% of household water used could be recycled as grey water, saving potentially hundreds of litres of water per day. Grey water can be used in your garden and also re-used in urban water systems, for example when you flush the toilet. This reduces unnecessary freshwater extraction from rivers and waterways, while reducing energy use and chemical pollution. So you can clearly see that the products you choose have a direct impact on the world around you. Enter in our grey water approved products. 1. 01.01.2022 I am doing the Live Fearless Challenge this September in support of Crohn’s & Colitis Australia. At the age of 20 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. When I first got sick, I remember I lost a lot of weight very quickly, I had a high temperature and I was in so much pain I would pass out. Needless to say I ended up in the Emergency Department but it took them a week to find the problem and by that stage I had an abscess the size of a rock melon in my pelvis from a bowel pe...rforation. I was quickly scheduled for surgery and that’s when I ended up with my first stoma. They still didn’t know why at this stage. The doctors told me my bowels were so damaged that when they touched them it would tear so they brought out the stoma and sowed me back up. Imagine waking up in ICU with a bag at that age with no answers as to to why this was happening to you. I was devastated and thought no one would ever love me. If only I could go back and tell that scared young lady it would be ok. It took another six or seven weeks in hospital doing tests before I had my answer. I had Crohn’s Disease. That period of time felt like a baptism of fire. I was fine one day and almost dying the next. But as it goes, it seems I don’t do anything by halves. Even my kidney failure came on just as suddenly and with vengeance (but that’s a story for another time). Living with Crohn’s has been a challenge for sure. I have had countless surgeries and procedures. Spent weeks at a time in hospital, hooked up to TPN, antibiotics and other IV medications. I have participated in human trials for medications, had painful bowel blockages and fistulas that would open wounds in my skin. You name the medical test and I have probably had it. I’ve had bowel reconstruction surgery, stomas created and reversed another two times but through it all I have had my family and friends and they have kept me going through the triumphs and the pains. I have learned a lot about this disease and my body over the years. I have fought hard for my life at times but I have come through it all stronger for having been through it. The spirit to live is strong in me so I promised myself back then to live fearlessly, to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way whether it works out or not, to learn the lessons in my mistakes and strive to do better when I know better, and to just be me wholeheartedly and completely because that’s what we are here for. Life is a gift from God and how we live our life is our gift to God. Who ever coined that term had it 100% right. If I can be so bold as to offer some advice it would be to spend your days in wonder of all the beauty that is around us because I certainly do. Take joy in the little things and laugh a lot. And finally be the embodiment of love. Love is powerful and it can change your life. Before I sign off I just want to say please make sure you visit my page and make a donation. My pledge is to walk 150km in September. Wish me luck!
