15.01.2022 Prayer request vs expectations. This year is adding to the need for stronger faith. We find friends and loved ones experiencing really hard challenges. How do we request our hearts needs and still allow for God's will? Ph 4:6 admonishes us to not be anxious. However to the mother of a child with high fever and the daughter of an elderly parent facing medical issues, anxiety creeps in. So if we pray in doubt does that nullify our request? Well deep theological stuff asid...e. Let us remember that God is our Father and we as children are still learning. Anxiety becomes a bad word when it takes over our decision making. I believe Paul is just asking us to take a breath, know God has a plan and stand and see the salvation of the Lord. God wants us to come to him and talk things out (prayer) so that we can find peace in his answers. Ask the ridiculous as that is sometimes in His merciful plan. Even if... yeah. We have to grow into that one too. Trust God to be God and not a figment of our hopeful thoughts. I love Elizabeth in, Coree Ten Booms the Hiding Place. The death of her brother and grandfather kept them from going to a concentration camp. God had a plan... even if. Be kind to yourself as you grow in faith and love and be kind to others as they travel rough terain. See more
13.01.2022 Joel 2:15-20 Blow the trumpet in Zion, Sound the alarm... I am reminded that often we ask for prayer almost as an apology for our situation. Imagine devastation and then in the midst of the chaos and the left over mess you take a trumpet and announce your impending victory and recovery. That all seems an unlikely scenario. What if we don't recover. Or what if salvation is just a hopeful illusion. My sister (Letty Mancha) made a comment that has had me thinking of all... this. "It is not ENOUGH to believe in Him we must also believe Him" . Now, think about this. There are countless promises about our salvation in times of trouble and in times of heartache. Yet, we don't call out for them. We don't announce there "possible" arrival. Why do I say possible? Because God's plans are greater and more involved than ours. He is working things, not just to work them out, but to doing it for the betterment of His people. He isn't just a promise maker; He is a promise keeper. Let's see if this week we can accept His promises and also proclaim them. Will he save, we know he can, but whether or not he does lets have faith to say, We know that our redeemer lives. Blow the trumpet in your life, consecrate you devotions and prepare for the Salvation of the Lord. See more
09.01.2022 Parables: those quaint stories Jesus told to show or give example and application of what he was teaching. However, once we know what they are about, what's next, we are told to apply their teaching to our lives, but How? There are many hidden gems to be discovered and we hope to unveil some of them starting in July. we will do a weekly or bi-weekly video and or by posting here. Thank you for your support and if we may be of service in the Wimmera give a buzz.
03.01.2022 Year after year we try to find comfort in our surroundings. Family, friends, or perhaps religion. Comfort however lies within us. Family offers continuity, friends extended expression and religion a socially accepted conduit when all else fails. One day we wake up and find that is just not enough and we look within. A predisposition, a "genetic" write up, or what I choose to believe the origin of creation. From inside the womb I formed you and I knew you before time. I have read it, sung it and lived it. We were specifically designed to carry within us the love and spirit of our creator. The only comfort that meets all our needs. Because of this innate ability we can offer love to family, friends and find expression in religious ceremony. May we be comforted this week and See ya Sabbath.
