04.01.2022 Hi there, I’m Sab. I am a fully certified yoga instructor in Melbourne and believe that yoga is for every body. I don't believe that the goal of yoga is to stand on your hands or to bend your body in a pretzel-like shape that is uncomfortable for you. The goal of yoga is to keep body and mind flexible and resilient, and to find balance in a fast-paced world. Or to put it bluntly: Yoga can help you to not loose your shit when life throws it at you.... I started my yoga practice because of a herniated disc, spinal stenosis and scoliosis in my spine (triple the fun!), and it’s been the only form of movement that entirely eliminated my back pain. It has given me the passion and inspiration to help others feel at their best. My goal is to help you realise your full potential by giving you the tools to move better, sleep better and handle stress better so you can make the most of your life. Besides teaching weekly classes via my virtual studio, I offer private and corporate sessions and organise Yoga and Wine retreats for my other business: Retreat Here Hope to see you on the mat soon! xx Sab
02.01.2022 The FIRST habit to create a healthier & happier life 2020 has shown us that we cannot control what is happening around us. We can’t control government rules and vicious viruses. In fact, pandemic or no pandemic, there are a lot of situations in our daily life that are outside of our control. Situations that disturb our peace (aka: sh!t that really pisses you off) can cause anxiety, stress, overwhelm and even burnout - to name just a few.... The first healthy habit - or mindset tool - is one of my absolutely favourite quotes (that I may, or may not, have permanently inked on my arm - sorry mum and dad) by Sonia Ricotti. Accept what is Let go of what was Have faith in what will be I’m not telling you to simply ‘accept’ or ‘resign to the fact’ that - for example - you really dislike your job, or accept that people treat poorly. No no. You can do something about that. What I mean is acceptance of all things that ‘disturb your peace’ that are out of your control, i.e. a pandemic, an illness, the weather, a delay with your train.. It is normal for our mind to create over 60.000 thoughts on a daily basis, and when things don’t go our way, we get sad, angry, unhappy. And that’s OK. Feel all the feelings, good and bad. Acknowledge them. But then, rather than allowing your mind to wander (it’s an easy snowball journey from sad thoughts to anxious feelings, and getting lost in the rabbit-hole that can be your mind) choose to see challenging situations as an opportunity to grow and learn from. Believe that things aren’t happening TO you, they are happening FOR you in order to become stronger and more resilient. Slowly surrender to accept the current situation you are in, as you are only wasting energy if you cannot control it. Let go of any worries you had in the past. They are no longer relevant. You are living now. And the biggest energy drainer of all: Stop being anxious about future happenings that may or may not happen. You can only control your future so much. Don’t waste time in the present to be anxious about what may occur next week, or next month. In other words: Accept what is Let go of what was Have faith in what will be . . . . #acceptance #quotestoliveby #motivationalquotes #healthyhabits #stressless #mindfulliving #mindfulmelbourne #yogainmelbourne #mindsettips
02.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone (a bit delayed!). I'm sooo excited to be back, even though the start of 2021 feels a bit weird. A continuous distance between many loved ones, and a lack of being able to do those things that make us feel truly alive. It’s no secret that 2020 was a year of extremes. And while it’s easy to say ‘good riddance’ to last year, we can't control everything that might be coming our way in 2021.... Therefore, I want to give you 8 tips to create habits and rituals to help you have a healthier and happier life, regardless of external circumstances. I’ll be sharing 2 habits each month. This way you can really focus on integrating them in your life. The tips I am about to share with you for the next few months are here for life. I don’t believe in ‘New Year’s Resolutions’. They often don’t last. I believe in sustainable habits that continue to make your life better. Habits and rituals that help you to be more mindful and that cultivate more awareness. Before we dive into the first two healthy habits, here are some important changes for Sabijn Linssen Yoga this year: - My newsletters will go out at the start of every month, instead of every week. - I’ve changed up the timetable to test the schedule and mix things up a little, for both you and I. Feedback is welcome. Remember, I am here to help you with your yoga practice, so let me know if you have any suggestions or requests. - Private virtual classes can now be booked via the online scheduling tool on www.sabijnlinssenyoga.com - The Slow Mo class has blended in with the Slow Flow class to make it easier for you to see the timetable when booking online. Slow Flow morning classes will be more dynamic whereas the evening classes will be slower and more restorative, like the Slow Mo class. The Lunch class will continue to be an intermediate to advanced class. I can't wait to step on the mat with you bright and early tomorrow, and I can't wait to share the first two healthy habits with you this month. Much love, gratitude, yoga and wine. x Sab
