21.01.2022 Have your say on the economic future of our Shire Nillumbik Shire Council has endorsed the exhibition of the draft Economic Development Strategy that will provide a plan for the local economy over the next 10 years. The community are now invited to have their say on the draft strategy that aims to strengthen the economy and support local job growth through a range of initiatives.... Council endorsed the exhibition of the draft strategy at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 28 January. Mayor Karen Egan said Council wanted to support local businesses to grow and thrive. The four objectives of the draft strategy are: Improve economic development practices to assist local businesses Create vibrant activity centres and employment precincts in Eltham and Diamond Creek Facilitate economically and environmentally sustainable use of land within the Shires green wedge Showcase Nillumbiks visitor, recreation and cultural economy. Council will implement actions based around each of these objectives in collaboration with independent work and strategic industry partnerships. This action plan is in the draft strategy. The third and final drop-in information session will be held at Wadambuk where staff will be available to answer questions about the draft strategy. Session three Thursday 12 March, 4pm-8pm St Andrews Community Centre, 35 Caledonia St, St Andrews To have your say on the draft strategy, go to https://participate.nillumbik.vic.gov.au/ecodev on Councils website. Consultation will be open until 5pm Friday 20 March.

02.01.2022 We have an exciting opportunity for our members to participate in a basic blacksmithing workshop in partnership with the St Andrews Mens Shed. This is to be a trial course with the potential for follow on courses. Spaces are very limited so first in best dressed!! You will learn basics of Blacksmithing over 3 sessions, creating a piece to take home. Details: Dates: 3 Sundays 16th, 23rd and 30th of June... Times: 16th June 8am -12pm, 23rd and 30th June 9am - 12pm Fee: $150 per person (covers all materials) to be paid in advance * Participants must be 18 years and over and must be a member of SACC ($5 annual fee to join) Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn.
