24.01.2022 There's a popular video going around called 'The Blessing', and here's another version of the same words, but with a different musical setting, by the esteemed ...composer, John Rutter. The prayer is the same though, and St Andrew's Cathedral's Chamber Choir recorded this in lockdown as a prayer for us all. Feel free to download and use in your online services. 'The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face to shine upon, And be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you, And give you peace.' Amen (From the Aaronic blessing, Numbers 6:24-26) See more
22.01.2022 Hugely missing the full Cathedral Choir singing. Here’s a photo of one of my predecessors- the great and godly Michael Hemans: here with three of his sons who w...ere choristers in the choir. And here’s me, with three of mine, on the first Sunday my youngest joined, who are all itching to sing in our beautiful building again. We tried to recreate the original photo in the same spot. A little bit of Australian history: 1 Cathedral, 2 choirmasters, and 6 chorister-sons, almost 50 years apart. God is faithful. See more

21.01.2022 Howells: Like as the hart Like as the hart desireth the waterbrooks, so longeth my soul after thee, O God. My soul is athirst for God,... yea, even for the living God. When shall I come to appear before the presence of God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they daily say unto me, Where is now thy God? Words Psalm 42 vv. 13

15.01.2022 Great news from UK Gvt’s research. Now to convince Australian Gvt that choirs aren’t a ‘high-risk-activity’!
14.01.2022 We are very proud of St Andrew's Chorister William Wheeler having landed the role of Theo in the musical Pippin! Pippin will be the first musical in Australia to return to stage and begins on 24 November. Congratulations William, we look forward to seeing you on stage!

11.01.2022 God be in my head | June Nixon A dear friend of the choir, Dr June Nixon AM, wrote this motet for the choir, a piece that we have sung across Australia and the world. God be in my head, and in my understanding; God be in mine eyes, and in my looking;... God be in my mouth, and in my speaking; God be in mine heart, and in my thinking; God be at my end, and in my departing. See more
10.01.2022 And I saw a new heaven | Bainton A wonderful anthem composed by a former Director of Music at St Andrew's Cathedral, Edgar Bainton. With text from Revelation 21 vv. 14, we see the apostle John's vision of the new heaven and new earth that is to come when Jesus returns. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying,... neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 08.01.2022 Some really lovely music in the service this morning!
05.01.2022 Psalm 23 THE Lord is my shepherd : therefore can I lack nothing. He shall feed me in a green pasture : and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.... He shall convert my soul : and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his Name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil : for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou shalt prepare a table before me against them that trouble me : thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full. But thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life : and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
04.01.2022 The Lord Bless You and Keep You | John Rutter Earlier this year we had the great joy of visiting our friend John Rutter in Cambridge. We love to sing John's music, and it was a real treat to have him in Sydney just over a year ago conducting a service at the Cathedral. The LORD bless you and keep you:... The LORD make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: The LORD lift up the light of His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen (Numbers 6:2426) See more
02.01.2022 We are very proud of one of our choristers, William Wheeler, for his efforts in helping other kids who have been affected by the recent bushfires. A fantastic and encouraging example of how we can love our neighbours, particular important in the shadow of such a disaster as the bushfires.
