17.01.2022 Each year as we prepare to enter Advent, that most beautiful season of hope and promise, this little verse from Jan Richardson is etched on our FB page and in o...ur hearts... "The season of Advent means there is something on the horizon the likes of which we have never seen before. It is not possible to keep it from coming, because it will. That's just how Advent works. What is possible is not to see it, to miss it, to turn just as it brushes past you. And you begin to grasp what it was you missed, like Moses in the cleft of the rock, watching God's hindquarters fade in the distance. So stay. Sit. Linger. Tarry. Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder. There will be time enough for running. For rushing. For worrying. For pushing. For now, stay. Wait. Something is on the horizon." ~ from Night Visions by Jan Richardson Blessings on this vigil of Advent...let us pray for one another that we will be able to "stay", "sit", "wonder" with our Advent horizon.

16.01.2022 We pray for everyone suffering the burden of loneliness.

14.01.2022 33rd Sunday of the Year & Final Day of NAIDOC Week The wise woman...the wise man...who can find one? That's the question posed and answered by the Readings tod...ay. The First Reading and Gospel both offer great stories about industrious people - busy, willing, eager and using their talents to the full. Wise indeed! These stories brought to mind another story I read earlier this week as we began the celebrations for NAIDOC Week: "All Australians should celebrate that we have the world’s oldest oral stories and that our First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremonies, invented unique technologies and built and engineered structures that predate well-known ancient sites such as the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, our first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, astronomers and artists." Wise indeed! Today, as we conclude NAIDOC Week 2020, we acknowledge and celebrate the great legacy of wise women and men who have used their talents for the greater good in our country since the beginning of time. We stand on their shoulders today and pray a share of their spirit as we too seek wisdom and try to shape a better world. Always Was. Always Will Be. Wise indeed!
