18.01.2022 Massage & Body Awareness I want to take a minute to flesh out why therapeutic touch is not only a way to ease pregnancy discomforts, but a way to prepare the mind and body for birth & parenting. Touch increases oxytocin - the hormone of love and bonding, it allows our nervous systems to drop, our breathing to deepen, our mind to still. It eases perceptions of pain, but it is so much more than just for muscle soreness. ... Massage builds BODY AWARENESS & TRUST. Two things that promote ease & joy in birth, however birth happens. Touch makes us stop and pay attention to the sensations of our body...this kinaesthetic awareness occurs as we bring focus to what our body is saying - when our body & mind are in dialogue. By bringing awareness to parts of our body holding stress, we can begin to consciously allow that tension to release. We can move through discomfort, change our position, use our breathe to soften and relax. This is excellent preparation for child birth! As our bodies morph from maiden to mother, from non pregnant to the third trimester dimensions that are hard to comprehend, we can lose touch with ourselves. Along with our skin, our minds and sense of self stretch and alter, accomodating change at a rate never before experienced. To experience our bodies through touch is to feel held, to stop to acknowledge the body & listen to it. Post partum massage soothes the racing mumma mind and is touch that is not asking for anything other than for you to receive. 10.01.2022 Massage Postpartum After massaging a dear friend of mine today I felt the importance to share the message of postpartum massage In our culture the fourth trimester often gets overlooked, unless we were one of the lucky ones that have been informed and connected back to the true ways of motherhood initiation. ... The fourth trimester is the delicate time in which the new mothers world has been completely rawly burst open and these intense emotions of love and suffering are ever present. The emotions crash like relentless waves and the mother rides them so openly to reveal parts of herself she couldnt have dreamt existed. Her body has morphed into beautiful ways to bring through the life that has been created and nothing feels the same as it did before.. The new mother is completely surrendered into feeling Postpartum massage offers the space for the mother to reconnect with her body through gentle and mindful touch. 07.01.2022 The sacred blue lotus flower has been calling me for some time. Ive been so busy nursing my childrens health that Ive had to put her calls on hold, at least for a while. . . Yesterday the rain lifted and it felt like a perfect Summer/Autumn day as the sun shone through gently but brightly. I heard her call again and this time with space and a strong ignition in my heart I went to her. ... . . After previously reaching out to community where to find these beauties the response was quick (and local). A flower essence has been brewing and yesterday I had the space to create it . . A flower essence of Sacred Blue Lotus flower, Pink Rose and Moonstone- a Crystal that has also been strongly coming in, everywhere around me. I have only just started my drops of the essence but they feel so in alignment for me right now. . . 05.01.2022 The importance of self massage... How often do we self massage and what benefits does it have? Well... Self massage is one of the many acts of self care and love that we can give ourselves. Not only does it have numerous physical health benefits such as lymphatic flow, blood circulation, myofascial release and more.. It allows us to drop in and connect to our body in intentional and loving ways. ... When you gently take your awareness onto your body it can create the space for stagnant energies to shift and transmute and for unseen parts to be acknowledged. Those forgotten unseen parts of ourselves can be a profound gateway to self connection, self love, trauma release and wholeness. As your self massage practice evolves so does your understanding and awareness of your needs. Take time in the morning and/or evening to slow down and lovingly assert your hands to some self massage love! Breast massage: We (especially women) can store numerous amounts of toxins and emotions in our breasts and breast tissue. Take time to follow a protocol of cupping and circling your breasts clock wise and anti clock wise, remembering to rub underneath arm pits. Your breasts require extra loving attention so be mindful to have loving thoughts towards them, even if we find it difficult. If we are finding it hard to attain loving thoughts during our protocol you can repeat a mantra or affirmation that feels right for you. Bum and thigh massage: We can store a lot of resentment and fear emotions in our bum and thighs. Following an intentional daily protocol will help access and release any unwanted and stuck energies. Firmly and mindfully sweep from bottom of thigh towards bum and then circling and cupping your hands while you sweep your buttock in a circular motion. Repeat in a figure of eight; one thigh and buttock to the other. Notice any thoughts that arise and allow them to release in any way that feels right. Tummy massage: So much can be stored in our tummies. Tummy massage can help with digestive issues, depression, anxiety and self esteem. Rubbing in clockwise direction, right to left- always, as this is the way the digestive system flows. A deep humming can help assist and unblock any stagnant energy. Foot massage: How much do our feet do for us!! These beauties deserve some lovin recognition... As well as having all the meridian points for our internal organs, it can be the most vital part to shed some elf love- after all these precious body parts are our foundation. Rose oil: Unconditional love, love to others, trauma release, sensuality and creativity. Rose geranium: Self love, abundance and sensuality. Rosemary: Heightened senses, body memory, memory release.
