25.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY Today the students and staff gathered to remember and pay our respects to all those who fought, and especially those who died, in war. Thank you to our Year Six Student Councillors who led the service and our 1 minute of silence at 11am.... Each class brought forward a wreath they had made which was added to our Sacred Space.



25.01.2022 POLITICIAN VISIT IN YEAR FIVE Last week Federal Member for Burt, Matt Keogh, visited the Year Five classes. He spoke about politics, leadership and answered all of the students very interesting questions. During this time he also presented some of our students with an award. Congratulations to Sienna on winning Matt Keogh’s Design a Christmas Card competition. This competition was open to all residents of Burt. Congratulations also to the runners up of the whole competition Ravleen and Payton. The girls were awarded with their own signed Christmas card. Well done, we are very proud of you and your wonderful creativity!

24.01.2022 CHRISTMAS DRESS UP DAY Students and staff have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Holiday Cheer by dressing all things Christmas! We even had a visit from Papa Elf (aka Mr Gibbs!)

21.01.2022 LEADERS 2021 Today we farewelled our graduating Year Six classes for the final time. Congratulations to our House Captains and Student Councillors of 2021. We can’t wait for you to lead us next year!



21.01.2022 'AGENTS' - RUIN SEQUEL SHOWCASE This group of Year Six students created a video which follows on from the last scene of the original film, where the main character is captured by drones. After obtaining his map the three agents go in search for his hidden treasure, but not all is as it seems... Some soundtracks are originals. 14.01.2022 'CHASE THROUGH TIME' - RUIN SEQUEL SHOWCASE In this sequel the main character from the original film escapes the drones through a portal which takes him to an alternate dimension! After battling a robot he returns to our dimension in search of his father. Some sound tracks are original creations using the Sphero Specdrum and iMovie, while other sound tracks are not owned or created by the students.

11.01.2022 HOLY COMMUNION We wish every blessing to all of our Communicants as they receive the Eucharist for the first time this weekend. May God be beside them on their special day and forever guide them along life’s way. Thank you to Father Minh-Thuy, families, educators and peers who have helped prepare and support each student to receive this sacrament.

11.01.2022 Many thanks to Nathan and Amanda Powe of Concise Engineering and the Graduating class of 2020 for donating a beautiful piece of commemorative art for our school. If you zoom in you will notice the names of all the students engraved onto the structure. A lovely way to remember them all!

11.01.2022 RUIN After a term of hard work the Year Six students have finished their RUIN film projects. Yesterday they had a viewing in the school hall, also attended by students in Year Four and Year Five. We will be sharing some of the videos on Facebook, as they are great examples of what our students can achieve at just eleven years old.



09.01.2022 END OF SEMESTER ONE After a long and busy term it is time for our mid year break. We wish everyone in our school community a safe and blessed holidays, and we look forward to welcoming you back in Term 3.

08.01.2022 VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY Our final virtual assembly of the year was held last Friday. Not only did we congratulate award winners, we had some special visitors!... 08.01.2022 MEET LUNA Today students were able to say hello and give a very warm welcome to our therapy dog, Luna, on her first day of school. We can’t wait to watch her grow as she supports our students growth through their Sacred Heart journey. ... Mrs Gerhardy has already taught her a really great trick... Hey Luna, look adorable! 07.01.2022 ALL SOUL'S DAY - 2 November 2020 Today is the day we pray for all of our deceased family members, relatives and friends. We should not remember them with sadness, but with the joyful memories they gave us while alive.

06.01.2022 GRADUATION DINNER On Saturday evening our Graduating Class of 2020 gathered in Brennan Hall to begin their final week of primary school celebrations. Our sincerest thanks to the graduation committee who lovingly made preparations to decorate the hall and feed students and staff.... Also, a big thank you to our Year Six teachers for your dedication and commitment to the students growth over the year, spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and with their leadership skills. The evening ended with full dance floor and many smiles. We hope you enjoy your final week at Sacred Heart as we farewell you!

05.01.2022 TODAY IS THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT The first day of the new liturgical year and also the first day of preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas.

04.01.2022 LEADERSHIP DAY Yesterday the Year Five’s spent the day preparing to become the Year Six leaders of 2021. The day began with both classes attending a parish Mass where Fr Minh-Thuy spoke about leadership and how to serve others as leaders. ... Next they were involved in team building activities which required students to work together as a group and solve challenges. A nervousness filled the air as students presented their speeches for faction captain and student councillor to staff members and Year Four students. The day ended with the a visit from the Electoral Commission who organised the voting will count the ballots. Good luck to all those who nominated for a leadership position. We know you will all make fantastic leaders, badge or no badge. Sacred Heart is excited to have you lead us as the Class of 2021!

03.01.2022 LITTLE TREEHOUSE COMPETITION Congratulations to Year Two Student, Faith, who as been announced as a winner of the Coles Little Treehouse write your own book competition. There was over 5000 entries and Andy Griffiths (famous author of the Treehouse books) chose his favourite 100.... Faith not only wins a gift card, but also 100 Little Treehouse Books for our school! We are so proud of you Faith for all the hard work and creativity you put into writing your story. Well done, we can’t wait to enjoy reading all of the books!

02.01.2022 ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT This Semester our Year 3-6 students in Academic Enrichment have thoroughly enjoyed exploring and learning LEGO Robotics with Mr Landers. Learning fundamental STEM skills Mr Landers challenged them to apply all of their knowledge to show off by engineering and programming their best unique design idea.... They then had the opportunity to present their designs to Mr Gibbs. The winning groups get to explore and present about our student drones and the skills they require! Congratulations to Bryce & Jacob in Year 3 with their coffee stirrer, as well as Sean, Tim & Javier from Year 5 with their claw machine arm. We can’t wait to see your drone presentation! Of course, a very big thank you to Sacred Heart Thornlie P&F who provided us with the funding to purchase the LEGO Robotic kits which have inspired such awesome learning!

02.01.2022 FIRST NATIONS BEDTIME STORIES Following on from NAIDOC Week, this week Sacred Heart classes have been enjoying listening to and learning about different Dreaming stories told directly by a knowledge custodian. We have then been exploring the resources to learn about the cultures of our country. 01.01.2022 YEAR TWO EXCURSION The Year Two students went back in time during their visit to the Kalamunda History Village! They explored the houses, shops and businesses of the village to learn about the way things were done in the olden days. There was lots of hands on activities including writing on wooden slates, hand washing clothes and dressing up in costume. The children were also able to go inside an old steam train and fire truck. ... It was a great day learning outside of the classroom and we thank all of the parent volunteers who helped make it possible.
