25.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Amelia Balnaves on her winning entry in the Penola Terra Rossa ‘Recycled Metal Garden Art Competition’ Held at this years Penola Show We and the show society were overwhelmed by the number entries for a first time event and wish to thank all of the entrants for their efforts. Our members had welding classes with the boys at Deland Engineering to prepare them for the event and a great time was had by all on these days. ... With 12 outstanding entries the judge, who travelled from Padthaway, most certainly had a difficult job selecting the overall winner!

23.01.2022 What an amazing effort A huge thank you to all involved #anzacday #lestweforget #weremnwrthem #isolationanzacday #poppies

22.01.2022 We had a very successful opening of our second stunning exhibition in a series of Portraits of Penola Women: ‘They came for work’. The stories of 8 women who came to live in Penola for work, and better still they stayed! and continue to make a valued contribution to our community. We were welcomed and hosted by the fabulous Parker Coonawarra Estate who were so impressed they will continue to display in their Cellar door until the 2020 Arts Festival when we will feature again.

21.01.2022 Ho ho ho and a Merry Irish Christmas!! We had a delicious Christmas dinner at Chardonnay Lodge tonight. We even had a true Irish man read an Irish poem by Cathy Hyne as we passed around our Kris Kringle gifts.

19.01.2022 To KNITTERS out there, the lambing season is starting and droughtstricken farmers need help to keep their lambs warm and alive during cold nights. One ball of acrylic yarn and this pattern will make a vest for a lamb, if you have time please contribute. Details on the attachment here

18.01.2022 Thank you to the wonderful ladies from the Terra Rossa CWA for hosting a sewing day for us in Penola. We had a lovely day in the most generous company, the yumm...iest morning tea and a simply scrumptious lunch! We bought home 46 kits/368 completed liners that will make their way to Sumatra in October. That doesn’t count the homework some ladies left with. We were also lucky enough to hear a proposal from Ange Winter, a testimonial survivor, to Pink up Penola and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation who helped her when she felt utterly lost and unsure of her options. She is raising funds to maintain the amazing breast care nurses that the Foundation finance and who guided her with love and understanding. With our darling unofficial patron Gwen with us today, we have decided to help in whatever capacity is needed to help Pink up Penola, we’ll keep you all informed. See more

18.01.2022 Please support local farmers. The Singing Magpie are donating $3 on every on line order over $30 to the CWA in NSW and QLD to help drought effected farmers. Their produce is absolutely delicious.

14.01.2022 Let’s show our skills and get our entries in at this years Penola show and give the blokes something to talk about!

08.01.2022 What a funday Sunday, we helped plant the native plants that we donated to the new project to beautify the outdoor area at Pinchunga. Many hands make light work as members of the community pitched in also.

06.01.2022 UPDATE: Thank you to everybody who has volunteered and shared the post. The roster is now full. See you at The Show! ********** Volunteers Needed! ... We’re looking for volunteers to help in the SACWA Country Cafe at the Royal Adelaide Show from 31 August to 9 September. No experience required. Why not ask a friend or two and do it together. You will LOVE it. Even if you can only spare a few hours or a single day, please contact Wendy on [email protected] and ask to be put on the roster. Please mention this Facebook post. But do it quickly as the Show is only a few weeks away. P.S. The SACWA has no gender restrictions, so BLOKES are also welcome to volunteer!

04.01.2022 Penola Terra Rosa CWA 5,000 Poppy Project We are seeking donations of red poppies for our 5,000 poppy project. They can be knitted, crocheted, felted, or made of material. You are welcome to use any pattern. There are plenty of patterns on the internet. We are planning to present the poppies to the Coonawarra Penola RSL on Anzac Day 2020. It will be a recurring feature on future Remembrance Days and Anzac Days. ... The poppies will be attached to camouflage netting so that they cascade down a tree in the park. Donations of any number of poppies appreciated. We really want to get to our 5,000 poppy target. Just drop them in to Di’s Gifts and Flowers in Penola. Make sure your full name is in with the poppies so we know who has donated them. Thank you!

04.01.2022 I just found out about this Little Library down in Penola. It was a collaboration between the Terra Ross CWA Penola and the Penola Men’s Shed and is located rig...ht in the town square so everyone has easy access. It looks like it’s big enough to hold lots of books too so if anyone goes down there to make a donation or pick up a book, let me know!
