25.01.2022 With a very heavy heart I am writing to say that we are closing down in the next few weeks. Increases in feed, chicken costs and general business expenses has made it no longer viable to operate. I would like to thank all my loyal customers for your custom over the last 3 years, you certainly made a difference to my small business.

03.01.2022 One of North Queensland’s last free range pastured egg producers is closing her farm for good. Saddle Mountain Homestead Free Range Eggs owner Kerry Dean says t...he cost of feed and rising power prices are among the factors in her selling off her chooks The prices are just going up and I really can’t pass that on to the consumer and expect them to pay that, Kerry said. Going forward we’ve been told the feed is going to rise next year. I’m already at $800/tonne, where (southern egg farmers) are at about $400. The farm will hold a sale on Saturday to sell as many of the layer hens as possible ahead of final closure.

We are putting our thinking caps on for 2019 and what we are going to do to get Saddle Mountain Homestead back in action
