24.01.2022 Good morning Xugana Island Lodge! With a remarkable setting like this, overlooking the Xugana Lagoon in the Okavango Delta, this is the best way to start your morning on safari.

23.01.2022 LINYANTI, SELINDA AND KWANDO At the far northern reaches of Botswana lies three of the most splendid, wild and secluded destinations the country has to offer. ...Sandwiched between the Chobe National Park to the east and the Okavango to the south, the extensive Kwando, Selinda and Linyanti concessions offer superb wildlife viewing and terrain to rival the physical beauty of the Okavango. This is real African big game country, and during the dry season the permanent waters of both the Kwando and Linyanti Rivers serve as important migration points for wildlife from much of northern Botswana including large herds of buffalo and elephant, wildebeest and zebra. Visit this area of Botswana to experience the beauty of nature. Photos: Courtesy of Kwando Safaris #OurBeautifulBotswana #MagicalBotswana #iLoveBotswana

19.01.2022 #TravelTips: Tours can give you both the time to adjust to the travel lifestyle and the courage to break out of your comfort zone. Here are some tips to conside...r when engaging a travel agency. - Read about a company's reputation: The last thing you want is to pay for a service you will not get the best of. Search thoroughly, check out reviews and ratings of the different tour companies available in your area. - Look at the cost: Money is always first in the list of considerations when going on a trip. Pick the best travel agent with pricing that is best convenient to your trip, trip duration and overall budget - Find out your group size: If you are not on solo travel, take into consideration the number of people you are taking along and find out if your travel agent has adequate resources to accommodate the number of people you are with. - Find out about their health safety protocols: The travel and tourism industry has comprehensive protocols set for tour guide companies to follow. Ensure that the company you use meets all the health safety requirements from their policy including COVID-19 protocols. 09.01.2022 The Congo Basin is one of the largest still unexplored wildernesses in the planet . It is the second large primary forest on Earth, only surpassed by the Sou...th American Amazonia. Until not so long ago it was a largely unknown spot in the maps highly feared by European colonizers who thought the dense rainforests to be full of lethal perils and dangers. Only the native Batwa tribe (so called forest people) were for thousands of years the only human inhabitants of the Congo basin. Scientists are slowly starting to comprehend the enormous value of this rich ecosystem, home to a great unparelled biodiversity as well as to a yet unknown number of plants of eventual high importance for Western medicine . Here some facts on the Congo basin rainforest: - The national parks of Lobeke (Cameroun), Dzanga Sangha (CAR) and Nouabale-Ndoki Congo (Brazzaville) make for over 1.296.500 hectars of protected primary rainforest: five times the size of Luxembourg The congo basin has the largest concentration of western lowland gorillas in Africa: some of the gorilla families have been successfully habituated and can now be visited as a part of a trekking experience It offers a home for over 100 mammal species - A unique feature of this forest are its salines: swampy tree-less grassy islands in an ocean of forest highly appreciated by big herbivores, which come here to ingest the minerals and salts their bodies need and the not nutritious enough forest plants lack. Forest elephants particularly love these forest oases. - Salines are called "bai" in the local Batwa language - The most famous of all "bais" is Dzanga bai in Dzanga Sangha nationalpark in ZAR: In a normal day you can easily observe dozens and dozens of elephants gathering in the open forest area, which makes it one of the hotspots in Western Africa for forest elephants observation.

08.01.2022 We believe it is important to travel as to reconnect with yourself, recharge your mind and body, and decompress and releases stress. Tucked away within the scen...ic Tswapong Hills lies Moremi Gorge. The Gorge is a designated National Monument, while the Moremi Mannonye Conservation Trust, through the support of BTO, involves local residents in developing the area for non-consumptive eco-tourism. The area is of great religious and spiritual importance to the community. Before venturing into the hills, you should, as a matter of courtesy, request permission from the local headman. A National Museum guide is available at Moremi village. #ilovebotswana #rediscoverbotswana #botswana

06.01.2022 #DestinationBotswana: Otse This small village is located about 60 kms south of Gaborone. As much as most Batswana know its name to be #Otse, its residents ...call it Letsekele because of the tributaries of rivers that passed (tsekela) through the village to the South-East. One of its most popular attractions is the infamous Lentswe La Baratani. The folklore story tells of two lovers who were forbidden to marry went up this hill and disappeared. As fond of this legend as Batswana are, most are not aware of the rich history the village has. Nestled between hills, Otse Hill is Botswana’s highest peak with a reported altitude of 1,486 m. Throughout all the hills and valleys, lies Segorong Gorge which during the raining season has a beautiful waterfall flowing. This is also known as the highest gorge in #Botswana. #ilovebotswana #rediscoverbotswana See more

06.01.2022 #DestinationBotswana: Believed to have formed over 100, 000 years ago, the Tsodilo Hills became Botswana’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Tsodil...o, meaning ‘sheer’ in the Hambukushu language for ‘sorile’, the hills were first declared a National Moment in 1927 and have attracted thousands of people to them because of the rich history they carry. The San communities that have lived amongst these hills for hundreds of years, drew their experiences using red sand on the rock and these paintings can be found by following different trails leading to over 350 sites. Local communities revere Tsodilo as a place of worship and as a home for ancestral spirits and the intangible values of the site continue to be practiced thereby authenticating them as sacred and relevant to local communities. #ilovebotswana #botswana See more
