03.01.2022 Is your BRAIN working FOR or AGAINST you as a rider? Unfortunately, our brain is hardwired for certain responses, that make us feel safe, even if they aren’t in our best interest at the time. This goes for everything in life, including motorcycle riding!! When it comes to STANDING up on the foot pegs, for example, it's a skill that a lot of riders don't feel comfortable or confident with, so as a result they rely on their automatic, unconscious (immediate) safe response & ..."sit down" when the going gets rough or challenging. Unfortunately this can really work against us - especially when it causes the rider to loose control of the motorcycle..& we all know how that can end up! When learning how & when to STAND up, or any skill for that matter, the purpose of doing so is to help re-train (trick) the brain to automatically react towards what it needs to do NOT what it automatically wants to do. Motorcycle riding is NOT a natural skill we are all born with. It's a skill we learn, train our to accept and perfect over the years. It's a matter of making sure we are teaching it what it MUST do, NOT what it wants to do! #Safe2Ride
