It's the invention of Len Derrick (pictured), from Perth, who has been travelling around the Kimberley the last few weeks showing off his design. "I witnessed a young lady who was using the stop slow bat, and then I drove back 6 hours later and she looked exhausted. That's when I thought I've got to do something." Mr Derrick is hoping to get the design sanctioned by Main Roads so traffic controllers have the option to use it on hot days. via ABC Kimberley
