25.01.2022 Recently we shared with you the weird and wonderful items found inside the safes we've opened over the years. This week, we present to you the awesome safes we have encountered which often, have been worth more than the goodies uncovered inside of them!

25.01.2022 This is a Lord floor safe. The owner developed dementia (sadly) and couldn’t remember the combination. He was placed in a care facility and his family were trying to track down some valuables. Kevin opened it without drilling but unfortunately, they didn’t find what they were looking for.

24.01.2022 What happens when you lose the combination to your safe? Or you might even discover a floor safe set in concrete under the floor (when you shift house) and you have not idea what the numbers are? Click below to read a story about a recent opening.

24.01.2022 When is a safe not a safe? When a bloke can carry it out of a bookstore by himself! Many so-called safes sold at major department stores are nothing but fire-resistant strong boxes designed to protect documents from a fire, but not cash or valuables from theft as they are easily removed or broken into using nothing but a decent screwdriver.... A proper safe of about the same size as a microwave should weigh 150kg to 180kg and be bolted to the floor, too heavy for some knucklehead to carry away.

23.01.2022 Have you inherited a safe or purchased a second-hand treasure that didn't come with a key? Are you excited and intrigued by the thought of opening it and revealing large amounts of cash inside? We have been working in the safe industry for a few decades now and we can attest that in the thousands we have opened, very few have contained what the new owners were hoping for. But occasionally, there is something interesting inside. Check out our blog: https://www.safecrackersaustralia.com.au//interesting-thin

22.01.2022 The range of safes, old and new, being used today are almost endless when it comes to shape, size and purpose. This old double door beauty was found during a recent call-out to country Victoria. We were contacted by the recent purchasers who were keen to find out what was inside. Kevin picked the lock to reveal...very little - just a couple of old coins and a rubber band! Kevin cut some keys and the client had an operational safe and no sign of entry. They certainly don't ma...ke safes like they used to - visit our website to read more about second-hand safes: https://bit.ly/2DOZPl6

21.01.2022 This CMI floor safe had not been used for five years and the client had forgotten the combination (understandably!). Kevin opened the safe without drilling, serviced the lock and set a new combination that the client would remember (hopefully). Floor safes are an effective way to defend your possessions fire and other disasters. They don't take up much room and are difficult for thieves to detect.

21.01.2022 We all forget things. Some are super easy to solve - like resetting your Facebook password. But it can be very frustrating when you lose or forget the combination to a safe containing precious or important items. And it always seems to happen when you need what's inside urgently. That's what happened recently with this project. The owner lost the combination to their old round floor safe (pictured). Kevin had no choice but to drill it open. After he had it opened he was able to successfully repair it so that it could continue to be used. He then supplied the client with a working combination. Another successful project completed by Safecrackers Australia! Do you or someone you know, use a safe at home or in the workplace? If so, please invite them to follow our Facebook page. You just never know when you might need us!

20.01.2022 Safecrackers were called to a residential property to meet with a client who's digital home safe had flat batteries. As the client had also lost the override key, they had no way of accessing their safe without the assistance of a professional safe technician. Kevin was able to pick open the lock and then he replaced the batteries for the owner.

20.01.2022 Kevin attended to a business premises in suburban Melbourne to open this Chubb Safe. The safe had been working OK until one morning, it just wouldn’t open and the business owner urgently needed to open it to trade for the day. The lock had a major malfunction which required drilling and repair. Another successful job completed by Safecrackers Australia.

18.01.2022 This (almost antique) J.L. Kelly safe was made right here in Melbourne and was discovered locked by a company when they shifted into a new premises and decided to use it for their own purposes. Second-hand safes are quite popular, particularly those that are still functional as they not only serve a practical purpose, they have loads of character and charm. Kelly safes have a highly pick resistant key locks so Kevin had to drill this particular one, which when opened, revealed some old computer back up tapes from the previous owner. Kevin carefully repaired the hole and cut some keys, and the safe was as good as new! Check out the interesting things Kevin has found in some of the second-hand safes he's opened over the years here: https://bit.ly/2H1nKAO

08.01.2022 Digital locks sometimes malfunction for no known reason, but the most common problem that occurs (apart from lost numbers) is flat batteries or the wrong type of batteries being used. This safe was in a retail store and the client needed to get the weekend’s takings out to go to the bank. The low battery warning was ignored and the override keys were lost. Kevin successfully opened and repaired the safe, put in some new batteries and the safe was useable again.

02.01.2022 This is a security filing cabinet held in an office recently visited by Safecrackers. The client had been using the key lock only and someone eventually spun the dial, not knowing that it would secure the combination lock, rendering the filing cabinet unusable! Of course, no one could remember the combination as they were not in the habit of using this part of the cabinet's locking mechanism. Kevin opened it, without drilling while also deactivating the combination lock so it can never happen again. Great work Kev!
