21.01.2022 As part of Victorias Regional Roads Towards Zero plan, Safe Direction was selected to supply new safety barriers in Romsey, Victoria. MASH compliance for guardrail barriers and end terminals commenced 1 January 2020 throughout Victroria. The introduction of MASH follows changes to the vehicle fleet, researching of real-life impact conditions and updated criteria for evaluating barrier performance. 19.01.2022 BikerShield is an underrun rail system for the protection of motorcyclists from collision with guardrail barrier posts. Guardrail barriers themselves must be recognised as a hazard to motorists albeit their purpose is to significantly lower the risk to the motorist from what they are being shielded from. However, the risk to motorcyclists of a rigid hazard at proximity to the edge of road such as the posts of a guardrail systems is quite acute. BikerShield has been demonstr...ated to significantly mitigate the risk to motorcyclists through compliance tests performed with instrumented dummies projected at the system at an impact speed of 60km/h. Tests were conducted with the impact point at the post as well as mid span between posts to verify performance with strict European Norm standards. Moreover, BikerSield has also been crash test validated to MASH to verify that the addition of it to the guardrail system does not impair the performance for vehicle impacts. See more

19.01.2022 The Civic West Carpark located in Newcastle provides 470 spaces servicing the nearby University of Newcastle, Newcastle Court House and Civic Theatre. Aging concrete upstands were demolished and replaced with RHINO-STOP Elite guardrail on the perimeter edge over 11 levels. RHINO-STOP Elite has significantly improved the aesthetics of the carpark, facilitates light infiltration and provides crossflow ventilation.
18.01.2022 The Wollongong Council Administration Building Car Park comprises 9 levels and services approximately 320 vehicles. Constructed prior to 1989, the car park was found to have a guardrail system that did not satisfy the BCA or the loading requirements of AS/NZS 1170.1. The existing balustrade was removed and replaced with 1,000m of RHINO-STOP Type 4 car park barrier to the perimeter, split level and ramp locations.

The Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Program (BRP) aims to upgrade and replace bridges to enhance access for local communities and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access. Safe Direction was selected as the preferred supplier for the thriebeam, w-beam guardrail, and MSKT end terminals for this project.

The Shire is located adjacent to the Mitchell Highway and the Broken Hill railway line, partly surrounding the City of Orange, and is based in the town of Molong. Safe Direction was selected as preferred guardrail safety barrier supplier as part of an ongoing program to upgrade several of the councils bridges and culverts.

Today the business has over 7,500 square metres of manufacturing and distribution facility under operation in Sydney and Melbourne from which it services all of Australia as well as exports to the Pacific region. 04.01.2022 Safe Direction has been contracted as part of the Safe System Road Infrastructure Program which is a Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and VicRoads initiative targeted at treatment of high risk roads using a Safe Systems approach. RamShield Guardrail was selected as one of the barrier treatments to be installed on both median and roadside locations to address the issue of run-off-road and head-on casualties on high speed, high volume, rural divided roads. More than 30,000 metres of RamShield Guardrail is being supplied across 4 projects throughout Victoria.

Manufactured to state road authority specifications and designed to withstand low and moderate speed vehicle impact loads, the fencing channels pedestrians to safe crossing locations. The orientation of the balustrades facilitates line-of-sight for passing motorists and pedestrians. Posts are available for in-ground installation or mounted to base plates for attachment to a concrete strip footing. Hot dip galvanised and powder-coated black for aesthetic appeal.
03.01.2022 The University of Wollongong P5 car park expansion provides an extra 250 car spaces. The project included extensive drainage works, an access bridge and landscaping. Rhino-Stop Elite was installed across the access bridge and RHINO-STOP Sky-Edge was installed along the eastern perimeter. The RHINO-STOP range of products are full-scale crash tested to comply and exceed the requirements of AS/NZS 1170.1. The patented, yielding baseplate absorbs impact energy preventing damage to the concrete footings.

02.01.2022 Crash testing of our MASH SKT End Terminal and RAMSHIELD MASH Guardrail. The MSKT is an energy-absorbing, tangent end terminal, designed to minimise the severity of impacts occurring at the end of the safety barrier system. During head-on impacts, the MSKT impact head slides and sequentially kinks the w-beam guardrail as it moves through the head and exits away from the traffic face. The kinking action of the rail absorbs impact energy and brings the vehicle to a controlled stop.
