23.01.2022 The festive season in Australia is a time when people gather amongst family and friends and many enjoy a few alcoholic drinks around the barbeque. However, at this time of year there are many social gatherings and it can be easy to over-indulge. Tips to be alcohol safe: Remember the difference between a standard drink and a serving of alcohol Keep track of how much you drink... Set a limit and know when you’ve had enough Space alcoholic drinks and drink in moderation Choose low-alcohol options Don’t forget to eat Don’t drink and drive! See more
23.01.2022 Farmers wake up already on the job. With the workplace flowing seamlessly into the home life and vice versa, there is often a general complacency that creeps into the day to day jobs because of this familiarity. Make sure you find the perfect work-life balance on the farm. Find a way to clock off and relax from the stresses of farming.

23.01.2022 Over the past 18 months, quad bikes have been the common agents of fatality and injury on farms in Australia according to the Farmsafe Australia Agricultural Injury and Fatality - Trend Report. It's an important reminder to know the rules and exercise safety when riding quad bikes.

22.01.2022 This Friday (tomorrow!) on AgDay, join us in reminding all Australians what they have in common with their country cousins! Whether city or bush-based, Australians are all motivated to create a better future for our families and our environment. We all live in the same modern world and share the same progressive values. So, this AgDay help us celebrate that in fact, we are all a part of the same cycle, all moving in the same direction.... #WeAreAustralianFarmers See more

18.01.2022 You have 24 hours in a day so take a little more time to think about safety and consider the risks involved before embarking on any task.
18.01.2022 It’s important to keep watch and look after children during the holidays. Separate children from hazardous areas in the farm workplace. Keep children away from dams, rivers, creeks, machinery, tractors, vehicles, sheds and animals. Create a safe play area & make sure family members & visitors are aware of these areas. For more information go to Kidsafe for a parent’s guide to Kidsafe farms: https://www.kidsafewa.com.au/resources/
18.01.2022 What are you putting at risk? In the workplace, health and safety regulations are paramount to the well-being of the employees and the employer. Many hazards are present in today's work environments and while they may seem unlikely and often improbable, when they occur they are unexpected and cause a great deal of pain and suffering.

15.01.2022 Our attitude towards farm safety needs to change. Many are already safety-conscious, but far too many are still either oblivious to the risks that machinery, animals and buildings pose or think that they are immune from that risk. What specifically are you going to do differently to make your farm safer? #farmsafetyweek
14.01.2022 As the rural workforce continues ageing there is an increased risk of fatalities and serious injuries. Older farmers should consider the risks associated with working alone, riding quad bikes, operating machinery & equipment, animal handling, falls and health and wellbeing.
12.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW?! #AgDayAU #WeAreAustralianFarmers
12.01.2022 Don’t let the holiday rush lead to tragedy. Many of us are keen to get 2020 over and done with. But we mustn’t get carried away. Slow down and stay safe, so we can all put 2020 safely behind us.
12.01.2022 Last week was international dog day. The farm dog is not just a man or womans best friend. They are loyal, always by your side, hardworking and are a part of the family. What makes your dog so special?
11.01.2022 From all of us at SafeFarms WA. Merry Christmas! #staysafe
11.01.2022 In Australia, male farmers die by suicide at rates significantly higher than the general population and non-farming rural males. Look after yourself, your mates and your family. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Remember that depression and anxiety are common conditions, not weaknesses.
11.01.2022 Farm work does not confine itself to Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Farm work exists 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. And farmers are born with the attitude that the job just needs to get done. When you combine that mindset with a general trend towards reduction in staff, larger properties and prioritisation of tasks based on economic gains, make sure you prioritise and put your safety first!

07.01.2022 Farmers and farm employees generally know the risks associated with the tasks that they perform day to day, however a combination of familiarity, complacency, fatigue, & stress, can be the difference between business as usual and tragedy on farm. Make sure you assess the risks, do your inductions & follow the hierarchy of control starting at elimination of the hazard. Visit Farmsafe Australia for more info.

03.01.2022 The last few months have been tough. Its easy to understand why we often talk about human resilience in the face of adversity or disasters. Resilient people are often painted as people who just brush it off or get back up again easily. They arent. And that idea is killing us. Literally. Our 'resilience' has been worn down. Farmers are taking their own lives because they have been culturally shamed into believing that it is a better action than showing vulnerability.... Remember; When the going gets tough... the tough can still ask for help. If you require immediate support please call; Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
03.01.2022 Taking the time to think about safety doesn't cost a cent! Before embarking on any course of action or job, take a few minutes to consider the risks. Think about what can go wrong? Is there a safer way of doing the job? Should you get some help?... Taking a few moments to think & plan can save lives! Sign up to SafeFarms WA to purchase a Safe Farm Safety System for your farm or business: https://safefarms.net.au/p/packages
