18.01.2022 Like the convenience of a phone or video appointment with your doctor, but not sure if face-to-face would be better for you? We’ve just released a new tool that your healthcare practitioner can use with you to decide if telehealth is a safe and effective choice. While the tool is intended for clinical use, it prompts the clinician to make a decision with you, not for you.... http://ow.ly/wNYF50CsMWM
09.01.2022 Great news for consumer representatives! We’ve launched a refreshed guide to help health services support you to participate meaningfully in your valued role. From recruiting and on-boarding diverse members, to helping you to succeed through training and other supports, our guide provides practical advice, tips and case studies.... While primarily intended for health services to implement, it’s also a helpful resource for consumers. Take a look - http://ow.ly/KRK650BTYda
05.01.2022 Have we got the balance right? Our draft duty of candour and open disclosure guidelines offer detailed instructions on what health services must do if a patient is seriously harmed while receiving care. Let us know what you think http://ow.ly/QEtY50CKpEj
03.01.2022 The challenges Peter faced while his mother was hospitalised, particularly his family’s struggle to understand what she was experiencing as a patient, spurred him to join our Delirium Collaborative. His personal experience has been invaluable in helping us to develop resources to improve outcomes for patients with delirium and better engage with their families and carers. A special outcome of this collaborative project has been the opportunity to see some of the learnings p...ut into practice around our hospitals, and the ability to further my own knowledge of delirium as a consumer to share with others. Peter brought his new knowledge to our Collaborative Pairs program, where he was partnered with a clinician to help break down the cultural barriers that can exist between healthcare providers and patients. Our focus during this program was on how we could grow our skills to bring the awareness of delirium to the forefront of clinicians, patients, carers and families. This focus is ongoing and is a baseline of projects where we continue to work together. #patientsafetyday #togetherisbetter
