20.01.2022 Vale Kees Schenkelaars. It is with much sadness that we have been advised of the passing of the inaugural president of our club aged 86 years. Kees or Casey as he was also known, was elected as the 1st president of the Rockingham Pétanque Club, now known as the Safety Bay Club and held this position for 4 years.... He was also involved with the West Australian Pétanque Association for many years and held the position of treasurer. His memories will live on with many of us who knew him and his dearly departed wife, Ruby. RIP both Kees and Ruby.

16.01.2022 Full contact sport and training will once again be permitted in WA next Saturday, 6 June. This is a huge step forward, which will mean from next weekend, people... of all ages will be able to start competitive contact sports. This is an important change for our community. It means our local sports clubs can get going again and get back to playing the important role they have in our community, especially in regional WA. It means many social sports can resume, which are an important part of many peoples' social lives. And I know for many young kids in particular, getting back to junior sports is a big part of their normal life. It's only because of the efforts of every Western Australian that we can take this step. Thanks WA!

15.01.2022 Good news for all our members at Safety Bay Petanque Club. We will reopen next Saturday 6th June following the relaxation of government restrictions for outdoor gatherings. As this is also the start of winter, we will take the opportunity of bringing the start time forward to 2.00pm. Whilst WA has done extremely well with very few cases of COVID 19, we must not become complacent. Therefore, we reminded that we are still required to respect each other's personal space and main...tain 1.5 mt physical distance and avoid the usual hug/hand shake greetings. We will also continue to only use alternative pistes. Looking forward to the reopening our club.
