21.01.2022 Hope everyone fared well in the storm. We drove around this morning and damage is minimal. It seemed less than the last storm a few weeks ago . The storm surge is very high and high tide is 9.30am with the jetties under water now. So there will be beach erosion. As for the Dental Clinic it is open and operating as usual except for extra care to avoid anyone who is sick with any virus entering our building for the good of everyone.

Now we have this window of opportunity, specifically a period of very low or even zero community spread covid-19, were we can now check people are doing ok by expediting timely recall dental examinations, taking radiographs, possibly some scaling (without using the mechanical cleaner) and if you need some filling repair work, we can arrange that also. 17.01.2022 Covid 19 hints for the day. 1. Get your vitamin D from a bottle or from 5 minutes in the sun at lunchtime with as much skin exposed as you can. Yes that means the really white stuff. No more that 5 minutes or you may burn that precious white stuff. 2. Get your vitamin C from tablets, fruit or both. recommended 1200mg per day.... 3. Take zinc supplements say 30 to 50 mg per day. 09.01.2022 We are open tomorrow to cater for emergency situations. Our assistant dentist Jeremy Lau is most keen to see anyone in trouble. We will continue to take everyone's (staff included) temperature before anyone can enter the building. We continue our very high standard of cleaning and infection control. 09.01.2022 We are open today. Some people after work asked me if we were open yesterday and the look on their faces when I said "yes" as though they believed I was mad. Here is the rationale in my decision. There are risks in all activities in life and we take risks every day. Otherwise we would not get in a car, aeroplane or set foot in the ocean. The secret is to consider all the risks and then use our human, full intelligence and wit to minimize the risks in a rational manner. Now in... our 30 years of our professional lives as dentists, we have navigated the coming and going of the likes of hepatitis C, hepatitis A, AIDS, tuberculosis, every cold and flu that come and went. So we do know what we are doing. At this early stage of the pandemic (for WA especially) we want to do what we can in preparation, so that our patients do not end up with a dental infection or emergency in the middle of a potential hospital crisis or shortage of dental care. 09.01.2022 Covid 19 hints for the day. 1. Avoid using any toilet but your own at home. If your house has more than one toilet, allocate that toilet as yours only if you can. Covid 19 seems to have a gastro route spread as well as the usual airborne spread. If you find you must use a more public toilet then avoid touching any surface possible, flush with the lid down (to avoid the aerosol) and then clean your hands obsessively before you have any chance to touch your face accidentally. 2.... Have this years flu immunization when you can. Yes you can get two virus strains at once and the one-two effect of these could be involved in the severe form of covid 19 illness seen. This restriction has been recommended but as yet not mandated to all dentist in Australia after extensive discussions of the Australian Dental Association with the Federal Health Authorities in the last few days. As you are aware, the infection control protocols in our dental clinic are of the highest standard and our new facilities have been built to hospita...l standards. However, we are very much supportive of the government's sensible, swift move to social distancing protocols throughout as many industries as possible. Active hexose correlated compound (AHCC) AHCC is a proprietary enzyme-fermented extract of shiitake that contains a mixture of polysaccharides, amino acids, lipids, and minerals. AHCC has been used in over 20 human clinical trials, with results demonstrating enhanced dendritic cell populations,16 increased cytokine expression of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes17 and improved antibody synthesis in elderly patients to the influenza B viru...s.18 AHCC has also demonstrated efficacy for numerous viral infectious diseases including West Nile virus, influenza virus, hepatitis virus, and human papillomavirus (HPV), demonstrating activation and modulation of host immune cells such as NK (natural killer) cells, NK T cells and gamma delta T cells. AHCC is currently being distributed to the medical community treating COVID-19-infected patients in the Wuhan region of China (Wuhan Zhongshan hospital and Leishenshan hospital).
