24.01.2022 We support THE SMITH FAMILY because we believe that every child needs a chance to excel. Through the sponsorship, children will receive the necessity to keep up and have the same chances as everyone else not suffering from hardship. In our eyes, creating an impact is more rewarding than having lots of assets. At Safflower, we keep giving where we can. Thank you for your ongoing support in using our services and products. We could not do it without you.
24.01.2022 We are still receiving inquiries about E Jiao (Asini Corii Colla or donkey hide). It is an animal product and, as we know, unique in its application by tonifying blood and stop bleeding, replenish and moisten the yin of the lung, moisten the intestines, and moving the bowels. Perhaps the majority of E Jiao is used in Gynecology. Several herbal substances come to mind to substitute E Jiao, but they don’t have the gelatinous structure that E Jiao has. Last year, we received a... report prepared on behalf of Humane Society International stating that 4 million donkeys are killed to produce this substance every year. The domestic population of this animal in China was reduced from 9.94 million in 1996 to 5.83 million in 2014. This organization also conducted a field investigation (visiting companies specializing in the production), and we have seen imagery of the slaughterhouses. Based on this report, we have decided to take E Jiao off our shelves indefinitely.
23.01.2022 Performance enhanced Chinese herbal medicines. ‘It may be important to note that substances that we use in Chinese medicine that are a qi, a yang or a blood tonic are not necessarily deemed performance-enhancing as known in sports but given as part of treatment to counteract a disharmony pattern, they might be ‘system enhancing’ meaning that they might make the person/patient feeling a lot better and hence having more energy, inspiration or stamina. This does not necessarily... mean that they are banned substances.’ Read the full article on this topic at: https://safflower.com.au/are-chinese-herbs-performance-enh/
23.01.2022 I often experience that patients are naturally attracted to the philosophy of Chinese medicine due to its long history but also feel a little confused about it. If they are well educated in Western medicine, there is a tendency to look to a single medication or a specific treatment regime for an isolated problem. It’s our responsibility to aim at changing this conception. We want them to be on board of thinking in a holistic and connected way about our body, mind, and spirit. In this blog, I am sharing the reasons why my patients are happy to take herbs along with some tips on explaining how Chinese herbs work to consumers: https://safflower.com.au/explaining-how-chinese-herbs-work/
22.01.2022 As Victoria is having a public holiday for the preparation of the AFL final, which this year, is not in Victoria, I wonder and ponder about what happened to our lives as we knew it before March this year. What has your biggest insight been this year? I would love to know! ... PS: I am not a big fan of Australian Football but I can see how it can move a nation, literally. Do you barrack for a team? And if yes, which one?
19.01.2022 In the same survey, when we surveyed herbalist in 2015 and it might be time to update the data soon, the following ways of dispensing were revealed: - 64% did their own dispensing - 5% used a dispensary service - 31% used a combination of both ... It might be worthwhile mentioning that the survey took place with my classmates during my classical herbal training with #ICEAM (Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine). Which means, most of my colleagues would have used raw herbs.
17.01.2022 After years of trialing, the key ingredient to success lies in being organized with great attention to detail. Choose a stock management system that you can easily follow, and it could be as simple as keeping an excel sheet. What we found with practitioners is that they want to have ‘everything’ in their herbal dispensaries, because, we get it, having herbs is great. But rather than choosing too many products, focus on a particular area (like Women’s health) and then endeavo...r to stock the most important herbs for that area. Complement this with either using patents or using a dispensary service. For example, you are seeing children as well or you are working with auto-immune conditions the source herbs for those target groups in buying in patents or tapping into a 3rd party dispensary. We feel this is one of the common mistakes that practitioners make. 15.01.2022 What is your most preferred granule dosage? What is your experience with those dosages and what do your patients say?
14.01.2022 What is on your Wishlist for this Christmas? Only four weeks to go, and we are smack bang in the middle of it. What is it that you most desire this year?
13.01.2022 We are always happy to show you how we do things at Safflower. If you are in the area one day soon, please arrange a chat and a visit to our premises. P.S. Phillip Island has a lot to offer, especially for those who love the sea and the nature surrounding it.
12.01.2022 We have two outstanding dispensing assistants working for you. They both have a love of nature, animals, their gardens, their loved ones, and of course, natural healing methods. One of them is a caring & supportive Cancerian, and the other one is a highly passionate & deeply emotional Scorpio. They might have their sun signs in different areas of the sky, but they are both highly committed to getting your medicines out to your patients as quickly and effectively as possible. They care deeply about the recipients of what you prescribe with us. Find out more: https://safflower.com.au/about-us/
09.01.2022 We highly recommend following the CMBA guidelines closely if you are doing your own dispensing. Because, if, for some reason, you are being audited, the guidelines will be ‘enforced’ and used as ‘evidence’. Do not risk having to address questions that should not have to be asked in the first place, read the guidelines, and be diligent (and professional).
07.01.2022 What is your favourite herbal formula? What is your favourite herb? Why? What do your patients need right now, and how can we support them the best without missing out on supporting ourselves? And most importantly, how do we support each other? If someone flags mental health problems, what do you do? Do you get your best acupuncture treatment out, or do you approach the problem with Chinese herbs?
07.01.2022 Long Yan Rou (flesh of the Longan fruit) has been out of stock for a while. What is the secret of this herb? It is sweet & warming and nourishes the blood, tonifies the qi, and calms the spirit. As per the Divine Husbandman’s Classic of the Materia Medica, it primarily quiets the emotions and [treats] aversion to food; long-term consumption strengthens the corporeal and the ethereal souls, sharpens the intelligence, lightens the body, prevents aging, and facilitates enlightenment of the spirit. (Source: Materia Medica, 3rd edition). We should all have more Long Yan Rou in our life!
06.01.2022 Expiry Dates on herbal preparations from Safflower: When placing your order with the Safflower online ordering system, an expiry date equal to the day of order is generated. This is also noted in the order confirmation and has caused some confusion. BUT, we apply the expiry date of exactly 6 MONTHS once we process your order. In this way, the herbal preparation receives the longest expiry date possible. The assigned date for the preparation is apparent in the shipping confir...mation email. Let us know if you have any problems or questions about this, and we will be happy to talk it through with you.
05.01.2022 Our popular range of creams works best if you: 1) observe the condition 2) differentiate between heat, cold, dampness, wind (at least) ... 3) and parallel, try to address and eliminate the underlying cause of the problem. The creams are best chosen by pattern differentiation and not the label of the condition that the patient presents with. If you require a list of the creams that we make, simply send us an email at [email protected]
05.01.2022 Tuesday, 3rd November 2020, will be another public holiday in Victoria (also known as Cup Day). Everything is different this year, but the reason we stay closed is that Australia Post is closed, and we are unable to dispatch any items that day. Enjoy the day wherever you are!
02.01.2022 From Monday, 16th November, we will be adding ‘End of Year Well Wishing Cards’ to the patient medicines to thank everyone’s loyalty and support throughout 2020, a year where our existences were challenged and changed. Let’s take a few moments to remember, be mindful, and make ALL our attempts to seek peace & harmony with everyone. I can not do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do JANA STANDFIELD. Keep up the spirit of generosit...y and compassion. THANK YOU.
