19.01.2022 World Kindness Day. #makekindnessthenorm #worldkindnessday
19.01.2022 There is a view there somewhere. Heavy rain overnight, it's now past midday and it's still overcast and drizzling. Poor blossom trees didn't fare well either
17.01.2022 Saffron is a powerful spice high in antioxidants. It has been linked to health benefits, such as improved mood, libido, and sexual function, as well as reduced PMS symptoms and enhanced weight loss. Try incorporating saffron into your favourite dishes to take advantage of its potential health benefits.
16.01.2022 More from last night. We had a drink at the bar prior to taking our seats.
14.01.2022 At least you can see the amazing colour! If only you could taste the amazing flavour and smell the beautiful aroma. ........Oh wait you can
14.01.2022 Lest we forget.
13.01.2022 We are often asked "what does Saffron taste like?" I find it a hard flavour to describe other than to say that Saffron brings an exotic lift that gives a warm, full mouth flavour that is a delight. Saffron is a wonderful spice that adds flavour, colour, and aroma to both savoury and sweet dishes. It's flavour makes it perfect for sweet or savoury dishes, which is also what makes it such a versatile spice too.
13.01.2022 Yes, Saffron is on the menu tomorrow night. What a colour , only 15 minutes into soaking. Both the main and a dessert will feature Saffron tomorrow. I'm organised and our Premium Grade 1 quality Saffron will steep for 24-hours.
12.01.2022 How beautiful to look inside a 150mg jar of Eladnelle Farm Saffron! To produce our smallest jar in our range, we need to process the stigmas from 32 to 35 Crocus Sativus flowers. Enough to feed up to 8 people a main course plus have enough left to make either an entree/dessert or cake.
12.01.2022 Busy day @saffronfromeladnellefarm 'marking' our lambs today. Marking is the annual process when lambs have their vaccinations, ear tags and ringing of their tails. For the ram lambs there is also one extra task . As part of our philosophy of reviewing all of our practices at Eladnelle Farm, this year all of our lambs received local anaesthetic via the @numnutsdevice for targeted pain relief for testicles and tails. We are so fortunate that again this year we benefited from the expertise of local farmers. This year we'd like to thank Gabby, Alex and Rhys, your hard work was greatly appreciated.
11.01.2022 What a sunrise this morning as we were getting ready for Farm Gate Market. Looking like a corker of a day. See you @farmgatemarket
10.01.2022 It's Sunday tomorrow and we're back at Farm Gate Market . We can be found at the top of Bathurst Street outside the Library. Please come and see us. Especially if you need your share of our beautiful Premium Grade 1 quality Saffron!! #farmgatemarket #premiumgrade1qualitysaffron #puresaffron #awardwinningsaffron #tasmaniansaffron #australiansaffron #eladnellefarm #buylocal #supportaustralianproducers
10.01.2022 Do you know how many stigmas from the Crocus Sativus flowers it takes to produce one of our 150 mg jars of Eladnelle Farms 'Premium Grade 1 quality Saffron'? No, its not one flower with its three pronged stigma. It actually takes 30 to 35 flowers to be hand harvested. The stigma from each flower to be removed and then dehydrated to produce a relatively small amount of Saffron. Enough Saffron to feed four to eight people both a main meal and either a dessert or entree or even a cake!
10.01.2022 Despite three power outages today. Due no doubt to the high winds we are currently experiencing. I was able to make this absolutely delicious Middle Eastern inspired meal tonight. The Saffron in the first photo is pictured after 24 hours of steeping - look at what a difference from the night before! I served the meal with steamed rice; plus beans and carrots which were lightly pan fried in butter and grated garlic. Lee commented it was "Restaurant quality" Happy with that!... Many thanks to my sister in law Lyn, for sending us this recipe from ABC - Radio. 09.01.2022 Lee decided to let our new Barbaaaras into the house yard to mow the grass. They are a breed called 'Wiltipolls' which shed their wool, so don't require shearing. Apparently, they quite like Daffodils and Blossom trees! . At least they did eat the grass too..... so lawn is mowed now, so back to the paddocks for them.
09.01.2022 Posted @withregram @a_sweet_pastrychef_life Pavlova, lemon myrtle curd, @littlewoodberryfarm strawberry sorbet. The first dessert of @aurahobart festive tasting menu. Lee and I have been fortunate to experience many great meals in restaurants. Our experience @aurahobart last night is definitely at the top of these. From the first greeting by staff, to the absolutely delicious food and wine, surrounded by stunning views we had an amazing time. Congratulations to Executi...ve Chef @thatrussianchefdude and all your staff, what a team has been assembled. Special thanks to Greg and Vicky for advice on wines to pair with our different tastings. Hard to decide which was our preferred section of the menu, this dessert was delicious.... so was the Salmon........and the Beef oh and the.......... So hard to choose. Until next time. See more
09.01.2022 We received a lovely surprise present in the mail this week from friends in Northern New South Wales. Very apt currently as we are 'marking' the lambs on Monday.
08.01.2022 Chilly and rainy day at Eladnelle Farm currently. Methinks it's a day for a warming soup. Lucky I've got a yummy Pumpkin, Saffron, Chorizo and Corn soup recipe I can make. If you'd like to make it too, please follow this link. https://eladnellefarm.com.au/saffron-is-good-for.html and go to Recipe 14
08.01.2022 After the marking of the lambs yesterday l heard abit of noise outside the house. They seemed to be hungry.
07.01.2022 Beautiful day today. Quick trip in and out to Hobart with temperature reaching 31degrees. By the time l arrived home late this afternoon it was starting to cool down and the sky had changed significantly. Hopefully some rain in those clouds.
07.01.2022 After a small amount of rain yesterday evening, hard to believe that our view was even better than usual; with the inclusion of a rainbow coming vertically from the cloud above. The blossom tree in bloom added another dimension too.
