17.01.2022 On New Years Day my dear friends Peter and Vanessa Williams lost their life long home and business in the South Coast bushfires. Their business, Mogo Art Gallery and Pottery, which is always full of their work, including beautiful paintings, hand turned and glazed clay pots were stocked for a busy 2020 Summer. Devastatingly the fire turned their lives to rubble. They are uninsured. Thanks to so many of you who contributed to the GoFundMe me page which collected over $21,000....00. Offering Peter and Vanessa hope. So many people wrote kind messages. Potters from the US donated $1000.00. Word reached many far away places because you shared the word for these kind people. This money does bring Vanessa and Peter Williams hope. Please donate here if you can. Or share with a friend. Buildings cost a lot of money to rebuild. https://www.gofundme.com/f/peter-and-vanessa-williams

17.01.2022 My brother lost his home and wrote this and wanted to share it: The Burning Bay Where fires are burning For over a month and a day... I live on the coast, In sunny Batemans Bay Its still going on With no end in sight Theres no other choice But to stand up and fight Ive had my bloody turn It came on in a hurry We did the best we could There was no time to worry. It was Roger, Dad and Me There was Chriso and Mark Everyone else had left before the first spark. Well be alright Well give it a crack We did our absolute best We thought wed beaten it back. Then up through the gully Came the wind and the roar We lost water pressure We couldnt do more. The smoke and the heat Was driving us just barmy It would have been great To have a big bloody army. Time to get out Enough time to run Jump in the car Smokes blocked out the sun. I stopped on the corner Filmed my house burn to the ground The heat and the smoke Had battered us round. Mine couldnt be saved When I saw the first tanker You bloody firebugs and looters Your name rhymes with banker To know where I live It was a quiet little street Now six of us are gone The damage complete With services down The powers gone out Todd still has cold beer Its his bloody shout Now theres the stories Of whats gone around Its not just us here Its damn near destroyed towns. Mogo is damaged Cobargos almost not there Rosedale is in ashes But us resilient people still care. Its not just the people Or property lost The poor bloody creatures Consider their cost. From animals on land Even ones in the rivers and sea The smoke and the ash Its devastating me! So put your hose down Turn your tap off Flush every third Put up with the whaff Then theres the Firies The boots on the ground Doin their absolute best But stretched all around The volunteers everywhere Trying to do their best At all the evac centres Theyll lift your spirits like a welcome guest. I have my family and friends Just so much support My daughter, my angel Shes my trooper, a real sport. The only house my girls ever known Just burned to the ground She misses her teddy Hes just not around. Im not looking for sympathy I want none of that here We could meet at the Bayview For an icy cold beer. If you read my little story From near or from far Theres always some way to help Wherever you are Our agencies who care Red Cross, Anglicare and the RF bloody S You all can donate Just think bloody YES!!! So if you think you can help Even in any small way Its the whole eastern seaboard Not just our beautiful Burning Bay. Jim Hughes 7/1/2020

09.01.2022 Privileged Completion: this textile piece is 81cm x 48cm and took me four months to complete. I used monosaturated tones so at times I thought I was stitching in silver. The painting is in black ink, and the thread I have used like I might a pencil to create line shape and form. Im thrilled with how it has come together. Framed in charcoal timber as part of Chasing The Sun group Show at Sydney Raod Gallery Seaforth. On view at Sydney Road Gallery Seaforth.
