23.01.2022 Dear friends and supporters - this is Corin Shearston here: The reason you haven't heard from us in ages is because I've been studying a full-time Bachelor of Communications at WSU, which caused our operations to cease quite a while ago, before lockdown, due to a lack of time. Because of this technicality, we're also no longer being supported by NEIS, and business insurance has become too expensive to maintain. I'm so sorry we didn't get around to saying this sooner! So while... SAGEM has bitten the dust, we're still very proud of all the content we produced, to help promote some of the finest musical talent from the Blue Mountains: Ben Connor & The Butterman Blue Sherlock (twice!) SideShowAnnie Julien Joel Clement Quinlan Cementhead (filmed interview) MASSIVE THANKS to my SAGEM main man, oooooold friend and audiovisual/photography extraordinaire Aidan Jaros Grilli/Aidan JG Photography, for all of his amazing efforts. Many thanks to all the musicians, all the amazing venues, Francis David from Sarina Russo's NEIS Scheme, Mike Grant from Mike's Web Services for our business website - (which remains active for archival purposes @ www.sagem.com.au), Mark Alston for our business logo, Jessie Willis for the practice interview, our friends at The Haze Mag - Blue Mountains for co-hosting our content, and our mums, dads, family, friends, fans, and fellow creatives. Sorry to anyone we forgot. Don't forget you can listen to all the great artists we've promoted via our Spotify playlist - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0vlnbxjOh0YlRlFkCCPK1x That's all from us - Peace, stay safe and thanks again xx Corin & Aidan

22.01.2022 Live Review #4 Artist: Julien Joel Clement Trio Venue: Hotel Blue, Katoomba Genre: Pop Event: Julien Joel Clement: Saturday Sessions... Date: August 31st, 2019 Within the cosy confines of Hotel Blue, a relaxing Saturday evening in Katoomba saw the Julien Joel Clement trio perform to a friendly local crowd of family, kids, acquaintances and strangers. Sharing some live renditions of songs from his recent debut solo album, Failure & Masterpiece, Julien was accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Neill Duncan, the albums producer and contributing spirit, and Lino Romeo, whom Julien had played with in his former punky French-folk act, Belle Jar. Firmly clutching some trusty steel-string guitars amongst this stripped down, yet innovative ensemble of drums, one-handed saxophone, melodica and backing vocals from Neill and bass from Lino, Julien confidently displayed some of the results produced by his quirky and inventive songwriting skill. Rich lyrical fragments also grabbed our attention, juxtaposed against the earthy, dry and atmospheric tones of the instruments, and Juliens diverse vocal ranges. I have never been in a great warnow my mind is the green grassfire of the sun. Showing great rhythmic flexibility, tightness, and textural understanding, these experienced musicians also demonstrated their ability to play in a literary, experimental style to conceptually complement the landscapes and characters offered up by Julien, with genres ranging from European waltz to folk ballad, to rapid 2/4 time. From Neill gently tapping on the rim of one his drums with one of his silver rings to Juliens remark about a song being hidden in event of his glass of wine not yet being spilt, Julien Joel Clements trio demonstrated their combined musical powers in the sake of thinking outside the box, to a crowd that was kept balanced in their soft hands.

09.01.2022 Live Review #2 Artist: Blue Sherlock Venue: Aunty Jacks, Katoomba Genre: Blues/RnB Event: 1st Anniversary Of Slack-Off Sundays... Date: July 7th 2019 Perfectly complementing the buzzing and packed confines of Aunty Jacks to celebrate one year of Slack-Off Sundays events, stylish Hawkesbury bluesman Willem Roorda reflected the family atmosphere of the venue to play alongside his dad Jeffrey and partner Jeremy as Blue Sherlock. Having performed at the inaugural Slack-Off Sundays, Willem truly went full-circle to present many worldly fragments of groove-laden introspection, refracted through a traditionally laidback and spacious Blue Mountains lens. With certain original songs resembling contextual travel souvenirs rather than simple verses, choruses, solos and interludes, Blue Sherlock also mixed in covers from the likes of Tom Waits and old-time blues singer Leroy Carr, fitting with the vibrancy of their surroundings while representing more than the sum of their parts. With electric bass, cajon (latin wood percussion box), electrified acoustic/electric guitars, two voices, and Willems plethora of guitar pedals, most of the set defined an original feel of steadily paced, deeply groove-laden licks, riffs and melodies, with a rock solid yet innovative backbeat from Jeremy. Over our course of the seven pieces we were there to witness, Willem and his Bass Daddy Jeff also blended in some sublime gospel harmonies to emphasise mood, with frontman Willem digging in to a gravelly vocal tone to heighten energy and drive certain words and phrases home to the captive audience. As songs ranged from sultry wah-wah funk to hypnotically deep blues, Willem embodied the heart of a guitarist with the mind of an intellectual frontman and songwriter, giving himself time to peel off spidery solos while staying true to the structural tightness of his pieces. As three unifying beacons of positive energy, Willem tirelessly exuded happiness and confidence while up on stage with his family, the older, well travelled Bass Daddy and content tattooed percussionist Jeremy. Moments of verbal discourse were carefully chosen to explain musical meaning over the dining din, such as before the sixth piece, a beloved cover of a song once heard at St Marys Leagues Club when smuggled in as a youngster, to song seven, one of the first things Willem ever wrote. The performance truly exemplified this set as being from a time of career evolution, before Blue Sherlock locally record their live debut EP to tour it briefly around Europe later in the year and return home for some more shows in the Blue Mountains. Over the course of the night, knowing the inner workings of Willems head was anyones guess, but his soul was often exposed through his many faces of transportive musical bliss. Blue Sherlock are here to groove, and they mean every note of it.

01.01.2022 Shearston & Grilli Entertainment Media (SAGEM) produced a recent interview with local rock musician Quinlan Cementhead (Alienativ), to chat about his upcoming debut EP, 'Stop Hitting The Nostalgia Chord On The Heartstrings'. Filmed live at Without Ego Music & Art Lounge in Katoomba, SAGEM are proud to present their first filmed interview and are very enthusiastic about the future of this bold young artist, who also has two upcoming music videos in the works. Due for release on most common media platforms, his EP will be dropping on the 31st of January. Corin Shearston conducted the interview, Aidan Jaros Grilli filmed and edited the clip, and a nice man named Saul (Joshua's Rising) let SAGEM film in his space. Blue Mountains DIY subculture is always growing. DISCLAIMER - Contains mild coarse language.
