25.01.2022 *Herbs For Pets* Yesterday I introduced you to @mav.man and shared his struggles with IBS and stress as a probable contributing factor. I mentioned that part of his treatment included a bespoke herbal formula. These formulas are special because they're individualised for the patient, they're handmade using organic/wildcrafted dried herbs and they're alcohol free, which in my view is important for dogs and cats. One of the herbs in Maverick's herbal formula... is oatstraw Oatstraw is a gentle and supportive herb. It's a nervine tonic and relaxant that is considered one of the best remedies for 'feeding' the nervous system, especially when under stress. I've partnered it with other herbs, including the beautiful herb Chamomile which will help to relax Maverick and calm his tummy. I currently only offer these bespoke herbal formulas to clients but they will soon be available for purchase on my website. Stay tuned for that or get in early via DM In the meantime, adding oats to your dog's diet is a great way to support their nervous system. Yes, they're a grain, but they are a healthy and beneficial grain. Doggy porridge on Sunday can be a great addition to your dog's diet Soak the oats overnight rather than cooking them to retain the nutrients, of which there are many (including iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, selenium, silicon, zinc and potassium!). You can also make an oat infusion to add to your dog's meals if you think they could do with some nervous system support. Just add 5g of oats to a cup of boiling water, cover and steep for 5-10 minutes, let it cool and give 1/2 cup per 10kgs of bodyweight . . . See more

25.01.2022 Fish. It's the best source of omega 3 for cats and dogs, right? Well, it could be but sadly there are a number of concerns with fish these days. 1. Our oceans are very contaminated. Think heavy metals like arsenic, lead and mercury. Then there's also dioxins, PCBs and radioactive particles. These contaminants bioaccumulate in marine organisms. A human or animal that consumes contaminated seafood can experience an adverse affect on their health eg issues relating to ...the skin, liver, kidneys, hormones, immune system, nervous system, cancers and so on. 2. Fish oils can become rancid when exposed to air or light. The fat particles oxidate creating free radicals. These free radicals can cause oxidative damage in the body. Oxidative damage can cause a number of health issues like gene mutations, cancer and inflammatory conditions. 3. Fish and fish oils are not sustainable. When fish are caught up for consumption, other marine life get caught by accident. It's estimated that fishery nets kill 300,000 whales, porpoises and dolphins each year! To give you some perspective, between 1997 and 2012, their population numbers were cut in half. Menhaden fish is a very popular type of fish used in pet foods. It's estimated that half a billion menhaden are fished from our oceans every year, resulting in dead zones (areas with a lack of oxygen). There are better alternatives! Phytoplankton or microalgae. Hemp/flax/chia seeds and oils. Green lipped mussels are very safe and are also a great natural source of chondroitin and glucosamine - great for animals with joint issues. And if you want to feed fish, feed only small fish like sardines, herring and mackerel. Want more? Check out my updated EFAs post linked below! See more

24.01.2022 Today I’ve been writing about the dog’s digestive system for one of my commercial clients. Your dog’s and your cat’s digestive system is an intelligent thing. It’s responsible for breaking down the foods your dog or cat eats and converting them into usable nutrients or waste. When the digestive system functions optimally, nutrients are absorbed, the body is protected from illness and infection and health is maintained. Want some tips for supporting your dog’s or cat’s digesti...ve system (that don't include the likes of behaviour pictured here )? Here you go! Feed food that nature intended they eat. By this I mean feeding food that your cat’s or dog’s digestive system has adapted to use over the evolution of the species. And so that is feeding a fresh food diet consisting of whole foods eg meat, organs, vegetables and a small amount of eggs, fish and grains. For more on this, grab a copy of my free Real Food Diet Checklist For Your Pet linked below Feed a variety of species appropriate food to ensure nutrient variety. Include digestive support foods in your pet’s diet eg coconut or goat yoghurt, fermented foods like kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, apple cider vinegar and miso, medicinal mushrooms, dandelion, coriander, ginger, raw honey. Keep stress to a minimum by feeding in a quiet place where there won’t be a lot of distractions eg passing foot traffic, noise etc. How's your doggy's or kitty's digestion going? . . .

You'll find the link to the questions below, it will take two minutes. A huge thanks in advance!
23.01.2022 There are aspects in our modern world that can negatively impact our animals. As an animal naturopath, I have learned what these aspects are and have identified ways to manage them so that the impact on our animals is lessened. In this video, I talk about these potentially negative aspects of modern living and share how we can manage those aspects to help ensure that we care for our animals in the best the way that we can. I explain my journey and process for identifying and... managing these impacts to best serve our animals. About halfway, I identify the three major impacts - inadequate nutrients, stress and toxins. Then I break them down to explain what the sources of these impacts are eg diet, environment. If you want your animal to thrive, to have a life of vitality / longevity instead of a life that has suffering and pain, these things matter. These things are relevant. Animals have desires and needs, just like we do. How can we support them in that, in their journey here, to help them to have their needs met, to be happy? Once we’ve identified these three major impacts, we can do a stocktake - where are our animals exposed to things, how can we manage those things and how can we help make sure they’re getting everything they need to be the healthiest version of themselves? Towards the end of the video, I explain how I’ve distilled the three major impacts of inadequate nutrients, stress and toxins into my 10 steps for optimum wellness. I share with you what some of those steps are and how they are relevant to your animal’s happiness. So don’t miss that part. I will be taking you through these 10 steps in my new course, Optimum Wellness. In the course, you will learn about aspects of your animal’s life where there might be potential for harm, how to manage those aspects and how you can help your animals to be as healthy as possible by integrating these 10 steps into their lives. The course is offered in a way that caters for everyone. Are you self-accountable and take action independently? There’s a plan for you. Do you like the support of a community around you and to have access to me for questions & additional guidance? There’s a plan for you too. Or are you someone who prefers to have 1:1 support? Yep, I’ve got a plan for you as well. The Optimum Wellness course starts on 17 Nov and enrolments close this Sunday. you can join at ruthhatten.com/optimumwellnesscourse xx

Here are some benefits that you're probably going to notice first: ~ softer and thicker coat; ~ shinier eyes; and ~ more energy. Internally, there are going to be improvements to your dog's overall health. Their digestive system will function better. Their immune system will be strengthened. You may notice that if they were aggressive or overly excitable on a processed diet, they now appear calmer. If your dog was overweight on a processed diet, you may notice that his or her weight starts to drop. Their stools may be smaller and firmer. And less pongy! And you may notice that their teeth appear whiter or cleaner even, especially if you're incorporating raw meaty bones and diced meats into your dog's diet." 21.01.2022 Roses aren't just pretty, they can also be a healthy addition to your cat's or dog's diet Yesterday I worked on an exciting client project, which included this pretty flower Keep reading to find out about all the amazing benefits of the rose and for a petal tea recipe The rose has several medicinal properties including that it's astringent, nutritive and bacteriostatic (that means that it stops bacteria from producing - historically rose petals were used as a bandage on ...burns and minor wounds!). All parts of the flower are used in medicine making - the hips, petals, leaves, bark and stem. The parts of the body that are benefited most by the rose is the digestive system, skin and urinary tract. The leaves and petals can be used in a skin rinse for animals with dry, itchy skin. The leaves can also be used for acute digestive tract inflammation secondary to bacterial or parasitic infection. The roots can be used as for diarrhoea, sore throat, conjunctivitis, and to stop bleeding. A poultice of the leaves can be used for insect stings and bites. The petals can be made into a tea to help with mild to moderate cases of colic and diarrhoea and for minor irritation of the mouth or stomach. See recipe below And of course the rose hip is a good source of vitamin C (1/2 - 1 tsp per cup of food) To make a petal tea, combine a handful of clean and unsprayed rose petals with a cup of near boiling water, cover and infuse for 10-15 minutes. Let it cool and then feed it to your cat or dog at a dosage of 1 tbsp per 10kgs (you can dilute with water or add to their food if they won't drink it straight). The tea can also be used as a skin rinse (although the leaves are stronger) & as an anti-inflammatory eyewash. Dried rosebuds can also be used Not just a pretty face, right?

18.01.2022 NEW REAL FOOD DIET EBOOK SNEAK PEEK 2! Want another sneak peek? Here you go! This one’s all about making home prepping your cat’s meals super easy Another criticism of a real food diet for cats is that it's time consuming. Sure it's going to take you more time to prepare your cat's meals than it is to open a bag and scoop out some kibble but the benefits of feeding a real food diet outweigh the little bit of extra time required. ... Want to know the most convenient way to home prep your cat's meals? This is what I do. Once a fortnight I go to my local organic butcher and stock up on everything my cats need for the fortnight. The butcher very kindly dices everything up for me, which is a huge time saver! So make nice with your butcher so that they can do this for you too. I bring everything home, separate it into 14 glass containers and stick the containers in the freezer. The night before, or the morning of, I take out one container from the freezer and let it thaw in the fridge. At night, I'll warm it in the sink filled with hot water for about 10 minutes or so. And then I serve it up. Easy peasy." What did you think? I hope that helps you some. For a lot more of my tried and tested tips, you’ll be able to grab your very own copy of The Real Food Diet for Cats and The Real Food Diet for Dogs eBooks from Saturday! See more
17.01.2022 #tabbycattuesday Tabby is one of the most common cat colours. But common does not mean ordinary. Just look at this face! There's nothing ordinary about that! And tabby does not mean that all tabby cats look the same. Within the tabby colourings, there is a wide variety of colours and markings. And even purebred cats can have tabby markings just like the Birman breed (my Lilly included - third pic) Another thing that's really special about tabby cats - they date way... back to Ancient Egypt where cats were treated like the gods and goddesses that they are Do you have a tabby? . . .
17.01.2022 I love this little girl so so much. She is my heart, my angel. And I want her to be as healthy as she can be. I want her to have optimum wellness. And so every day, I take steps to foster this state of wellness. Because my love for her is just so mega huge. We are bombarded with so much misinformation when it comes to caring for our pets. We are told that certain foods are the best foods, when they're not. We are told to give our animals medications, that have potentially tox...ic effects, that in a lot of cases, don't work. We are led to believe that our animals should be treated in a certain way that does not provide them with the support they need; that does not honour who they are as a cat or a dog. I want to change all of that. I want to show you that there is another way. A way that respects an animal's natural, inherent desires. A way that helps them to have a healthy, happy and long life. That's why I created my new course, Optimum Wellness. To let you know that there is another way to care for your animal. In this course, I will teach you the processes for helping your animal be as healthy as they can be. Processes that I have been using for the past six years working 1:1 with pet parents. There is a different way and it's a way that honours the beautiful divine beings that our fur babies are, mind, body and soul. Will you join me? Enrolments close tonight. Enrol now via the link in the comments below xx . . .
17.01.2022 Did you know that the crystal Rhodochrosite is believed to be linked to the cat? The cat is considered the animal totem for this crystal symbolising self love. The cat's affirmation is "I am loved" and here is her message: I am here because you need me to be, under my own terms of course! for I have chosen you and offer the blessing of a life long alliance. I am the Cat, your magical Feline familiar that offers the Gift of changing you...r entire world, with me working by your side your power will be doubled when we craft your future, as our contract binds you will accept my one irrefutable condition, You must learn to truly love yourself this is my purpose for you here in this World. Together we inhale a breath of self forgiveness opening the doorway to the sacred temple of unconditional love, we are beings of an enlightened state every action we complete is done without question or reason, it simply just is. Never do we need to search outside of ourselves for our innate instinct knows we are perfectly whole and complete. Our presence denotes mystery by invoking the sacred path, those whom walk beside us are welcomed into our circle of devotion forging irrevocable bonds, with the love we share never can we deny forgiveness asked, the miracle of healing exists taking place through the cycle of unconditional love. Our species is schooled in the art of balance mastering the existence within, when night calls us home peacefully we live amongst the shadows placing our being at ease and when the rise of first light appears we worship the golden rays of the Sun. We honour our role as a way-shower gifted with the all seeing eye, intuition is our compass lighting the way forwards so others can learn the most important lessons of life. Mischievously we chase curiosities where surprise and happiness can be found, the virtue of living unbound is fore filled in confidence knowing we host more than one life blessed with the fortune of many, Luck is always on our side. Our Journey is absolute, unconditionally loving ourselves." This comes from the book Animal Medicine TLC by Melissa Fitzwilliam. Just beautiful, right? I have a rhodochrosite ring, which I adore and which reminds me of the cat's message and how wonderful it is to have these special animals in our lives . . .
17.01.2022 NEW REAL FOOD DIET EBOOK SNEAK PEEK 3! "You say what? That food I'm eating is not healthy?!" says this cute little dog when he gets a hold of The Real Food Diet for Dogs eBook (coming Saturday - yay!) Today's sneak peek speaks to the persuasive power of vets and the pet food industry in letting us believe that the foods they recommend are the best for your dog ... "We're told by vets that certain brands of dog food are healthy and the best foods to feed. We're shown advertising material that makes claims about the benefits of feeding these foods. And this advertising is clever. It's designed to get you to buy, and keep buying. And so we can be forgiven for feeding our dogs the foods that we're told are healthy to feed (when they're actually not). The difference between you and me is that I am trained and experienced in dog nutrition. And so I have access to information that is not readily available to the average consumer. I have also witnessed the benefits of dogs eating food that is actually healthy, after eating the foods, that we're told are healthy, complete and balanced, for certain periods of time. And I can assure you that your dog will be healthier eating a diet that contains real, fresh and natural food over food that is pet grade, highly processed and contains an array of potentially toxic and synthetic ingredients. What food do you think is going to make you healthy? Packaged processed food, or real, fresh and natural food? It's the same deal for our dogs." In the real food diet eBooks, I'm breaking everything down for you. From go to whoa. So that you know the real deal when it comes to dog and cat food and what you can do about it to ensure that your fur baby is legit eating heathy food. 2 sleeps to go! . . .
15.01.2022 In 2015, I started my animal nutrition business and started seeing clients. One of my first private clients was Anna Jones. In 2016, Anna became my first commercial client as we worked together to formulate three ready-to-serve dog meal recipes. These were the recipes with which Anna launched suburban pup!! Since then, I've worked closely with Anna as Suburban Pup's consulting canine nutritionist. We have made various tweaks to the recipes along the way and added new recipes,... all in the spirit of continuous improvemnt. Fast forward to 2020 and Anna and I worked closely together again on some tweaks to the SP recipes. Last week we shared a 3-part video series on Instagram, which gave an insight into the recipe review process. I'm sharing that video here now in its entirety. As well as discussing the tweaks to the recipes we also discuss some common issues in the dog food world, including: ~ The balanced over time approach to feeding vs feeding complete and balanced with every meal, ~ Formulating dog foods to AAFCO minimum nutrient requirements, ~ How a real food diet stacks up against the AAFCO minimums ~ The real life approach to feeding dogs, ~ The importance of including a variety of nutrients in your dog's diet, ~ How feeding a single protein can result in your dog developing a sensitivity to that protein, and ~ Lots more! This video is for the die-hard dog food, healthy dog and dog nutrition fans out there. Enjoy! And if you have any questions or comments, please let us know below or send us a message xx

10.01.2022 So I heard from one of this guy’s humans today and I’m so proud to say that @franklin_frankie_frank is doing great! Here’s what’s his human had to say - Little Franklin is mostly thriving... he goes through the occasional bout of soft poops/diarrhea but otherwise he is very slowly putting on weight and has lots of energy!! And he loves his fresh veggies and species appropriate food mix we cook up... He’s a real foodie! Before I started supporting Franklin’s humans, Frank...lin had been suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting from 8 weeks old. Whenever they tried feeding him raw food, he had explosive diarrhoea. Prescription food and antibiotics provided no help whatsoever; the diarrhoea continued. His humans were also worried because Franklin didn’t seem to be putting on any weight. Healing can be a long journey but this guy is doing so well. Amazing what real food and dedication to an animal’s wellness can do If you’d like some help with helping your dog or cat to be super healthy, please PM me. I’d love to hear from you and support you in your pet’s wellness journey . . .

08.01.2022 "Our bodies have evolved for millennia with the natural world, and it is wild food that our cells recognize as that which optimally nourishes. It is the structure of moving fresh water that surrounds each cell and thus nourishes it... The natural world is what our bodies recognize as safe and supportive, thus causing maintenance and replication of cells. Our bodies do not recognize processed foods; therefore, they have to work harder to digest and assimilate any minor nutrien...ts that may be derived from such food. Stress is not just the fight-or-flight reaction that produces adrenaline, it is also the added hard work of digesting, filtering, pumping, eliminating, and integrating what is perceived as foreign to our systems. It is extremely detrimental to our overall health to continue in stressful life patterns that lead to lack of coherence, erratic signalling, depleted immunity, and low vitality -- all of which rob us of the most important nutrient of all: spirit." The natural world delivers the essentials of life for us and all animals, including food and water. These are what nourish us. It is natural, real food and pure water that our bodies recognise and assimilate for optimal wellness. Body, mind and soul. You can support your cats and dogs by providing them with the foods that nature intended them to eat. These are the foods that will nourish them and help them to achieve optimum wellness and longevity. Need help with feeding your fur baby the way nature intended? 06.01.2022 Everybody meet Maverick, the ever so cute pugalier from Perth! Maverick's human reached out to me by commenting on episode 2 of my Natural Animal Health IGTV series (check out my videos to watch ) asking about foods for IBS and bilious vomiting syndrome. We chatted for a bit over DM and Mav's human decided it would be best to work with me 1:1. Maverick has a long history of tummy upset, which his human believes is due in part to behavioural issues - she thinks he's very sen...sitive and suffers from anxiety. Stress can wreak havoc on the gut so I wouldn't be at all surprised if his anxiety is a contributing factor. The slightest change in Mav's routine can result in tummy issues. Needless to say, I took this into account when formulating a treatment plan for Mav. Helping animals with sensitive tummies means a raw diet is generally problematic. It can be too rich for sensitive tums and cause diarrhoea. So Mav's diet will remain fresh but will be cooked until his gut heals. The kibble is out and we're adding additional support with food based supplements and a bespoke herbal formula. Mav's mum is so amazing in that she makes Mav homemade treats So I've also given her some recommendations for altering those recipes slightly so that they alleviate any potential for contributing to Mav's IBS symptoms. Mav shared a story about his Mum's baking today and I've shared it on my stories for those who are curious My nutritional therapy programs include email and phone support so I'm keeping up to date with how Mav is going in between consults. In my opinion, the support piece is so important in getting results. I don't want my pet parents to be alone in this and so I'm there by their side helping them feel confident with the changes they're making and actually getting results. 06.01.2022 Do you feed your pet foods, treats or supplements that contain shark cartilage? Shark cartilage is touted as being beneficial for joints because it's a natural source of chondroitin and glucosamine. Because of this, it finds its way into a lot of pet treats and supplements. But did you know that there are ethical concerns associated with the production of shark cartilage? If you're a lover of ALL animals, these concerns may bother you.... Shark cartilage products don't usually specify the species of shark used. Usually the cartilage comes from a range of shark species, including species that are nearing extinction. All sellers of shark cartilage will tell you, it's from by-catch or it's ethically produced. I call BS on that. Everyone claims to be using the by-catch of someone else. But this is a billion dollar industry. Sharks are being killed for their cartilage Sharks can be scary, heck they can severely injure and kill humans, but that doesn't mean that they have any lesser value than we do, that they don't belong on this planet just as much as we do. Just ask @pauldegelder. Paul was severely injured in a shark attack to the point that he almost died. Today he is one of the world's biggest advocates for shark preservation I bet you he's got a bit to say about the unethical production of shark cartilage! Also check out @realeliroth, who's made a documentary on the plight of the shark called Fin, coming out soon for #sharkweek. I believe it will include a segment on shark cartilage. There are more humane ways to support the joints of your pets. Green Lipped Mussel, Hemp Oil being just a couple. DM me if you'd like more info xx . . . See more

05.01.2022 Sage isn't just good for smudging or flavouring your meals. It has health benefits for people, and cats and dogs too! Historically, sage has been used for colds and cough, as an analgesic and for epilepsy. It was used to induce sweating to cool people with a fever, to soothe a sore throat and to ease flatulence. And for anyone who's feeling a bit randy, sage has been used to suppress sexual desire Research shows that sage has benefits for people with viral pharyngitis, and ...improving cognition in alzheimer patients For cats and dogs, sage is believed to help with digestive issues (including stomatitis, gingivitis, flatulence and diarrhoea) and cognitive dysfunction. Keep sage away from any human or animal who's pregnant as it may induce contractions Sage shouldn't be used in high doses or long term as it may lead to tachycardia, hot flashes, seizures and dizziness. Curious if sage will help your pet? PM me and let's have a chat about it xx . . .

03.01.2022 I was asked this question just the other day. Want to know my answer? Well it depends! ~ How old is your pet? ~ How many meals a day are they used to having? ~ What feeding frequency fits within your schedule?... ~ How is their digestive system? If your cat or dog is an adult and they're used to eating two meals a day, then keep that up. Changing routines like meal frequency can be a stressor for your pet. And for optimum wellness, it's best to keep stressors to a minimum. In the same vein, if your cat or dog is used to eating one meal a day, then keep that up. If your cat or dog has digestive issues eg vomiting, it might be better to feed smaller meals more frequently. And if you free feed your cats, then that's one situation where I would recommend changing to one or two set meals a day. More on this in a future post! How many meals a day do you feed your pet? . . .
03.01.2022 Doesn’t this guy look happy?! His name is Otis and his humans reached out to me recently seeking help with transitioning him from a commercial, processed diet to a much healthier natural diet. They also wanted to learn of natural/herbal remedies they could give Otis to support him. Otis is a 10 year old Airedale Terrier from Qld. He has some hip and knee arthritis, a history of recurrent ear infections and some difficulty digesting his food (he’s a bit of a burper and a far...ter and sometimes has undigested bits of food in his ). The focus for his treatment is getting him eating a natural diet that provides him with all the nutrients he needs, provides him with musculoskeletal support, digestive support and senior support. It’s only early days but his humans are going great with preparing his homemade natural meals and I’m told he is absolutely loving them!; that he gets very impatient and excited when his humans put his food in his bowl. This really gives me love heart eyes Oh and his humans make my favourite kefir! You can see it in the photo here, which is actually my fave flavour - raspberry lemonade! Good kefir can be hard to find but these guys are kings at making it! Check them out at @oldcossackkefir And if you’d like help with transitioning your dog or cat to a natural diet and / or help with natural remedies to support your pet, please send me a message or book in a free chat via the link below. I’d love to hear from you xx . . .
03.01.2022 Meet beautiful Sunshine! Sunshine's humans were feeding her a beautiful fresh, whole food diet until recently when Sunshine was somehow poisoned with a banned herbicide. Sunshine's humans don't use any herbicides or chemicals in the garden so the exposure to it is concerning The impact on Sunshine's liver was very serious, with her liver enzymes off the charts. When told that she needed to be fed a low fat prescription diet, Sunshine's mum was not convinced this was the r...ight thing to do. How could a processed diet help Sunshine heal? So she reached out to me for help with formulating an appropriate fresh, whole food diet to help support Sunshine as she heals from the poisoning. I met Sunshine and her pet parents yesterday and the love they have for this little one is just beautiful I'll be formulating a fresh diet for Sunshine that will support her liver as it heals and regenerates. I'll also be recommending some herbs and natural supplements to support the liver and to assist with detoxification. This pic was taken after Sunshine's reiki session. It was her first time and not surprisingly for a young dog, she took some time to settle. But then it was lovely to see her finally calm and receive the healing energy For more pics of this beauty (plus her feline housemate and the divine raw dessert that I got to enjoy! ) check out my stories. And if you'd like help with healing your dog or cat, book in a free chat with me or just PM me I'd love to discuss how I may be able to help you help your cat or dog live a long, healthy and happy life xx
02.01.2022 Join me and holistic vet Dr Lu Fenny as we get together to discuss natural ways to help cats and dogs be super healthy In this episode, Lu and I discuss herbal medicines. I reckon that this topic has got to be right up there with our passion for real food and pet nutrition Nutrition and the food our pets eat are super, super important if we want our pets to live long, healthy and happy lives (see episode 2 for more on this) but herbs are amazing in the way that they ...can heal our pets. I for one love making herbal medicines for my patients from scratch. It’s a process that takes a bit of time but I get so much joy out of actually touching and smelling the parts of the plants that make these wonderful, safe and effective remedies (more to come on that in a future episode!!). We chat about why we use herbs, how we use them, how herbs work within the body, and why we love herbs so much for helping cats and dogs be super healthy Got questions, comments, topics you’d like us to cover in future episodes? 02.01.2022 Today Atticus had his third reiki treatment out of the four treatments included in my remote reiki pack (four treatments over a fortnight). Atticus suffers from a pretty bad case of fear aggression and his human thought reiki might be worth a try. I agreed as reiki can be very supportive in healing past trauma. Atticus is a foster cat with a sad history of abandonment. He’s not bonding with his new tribe, attacking them instead. He’s on antidepressant medication and... he’s kept in a separate part of the house from the other cats in the home. Since his first session, his human has noticed that he is calmer, a bit more engaged and seeking out attention. After today’s session, he gave me a kiss. His human says under the anger, he’s very sweet. I’ve definitely felt that with him My reiki treatments are evolving as I am learning new ways to transmit healing energy to animals. And I’m honoured to be able to share these new healing ways with Atticus. Here’s hoping that with these treatments, he can feel safer and supported, enough so that he can feel comfortable putting down roots with his human and the other felines . . . See more

01.01.2022 Every cat lover knows that cats are super special Crazy cat people love a cat’s fierce independence, curiosity, loyalty, cuteness, spirituality, soothing purr and their innate ability to put themselves first (and their humans when they want to ). Many people mistake cats for being like dogs. But they’re not! The way they behave, towards themselves and towards others, their discerning taste around what foods they’re even going to contemplate eating and when, and everything... about them makes them so different and special. They also require much less maintenance than dogs. They don't need daily walks (unless you take your puss for walks), doggy day care, dog parks, dog groomers and they eat less. And because of their independence, they're nowhere near as needy as many dogs and they generally cost less to look after. Oh and let's not forget that they are significantly quieter and cleaner than dogs, although there's always the exception to the rule And so it’s important that when you are looking for someone to help your cat, that they understand the ways of the cat. I’m a cat lover and I’m a proud crazy cat lady. I’ve had cats all of my life and I deeply understand and adore their ways. And the strategies I use in my practice with my cat patients are very different to the strategies I use with my dog patients Thiscombined with my training and experience in nutrition and natural remedies for cats, makes me an ideal match to help you help your cat be super healthy If you’re struggling at the moment with your cat’s health and you’d like to explore natural ways for helping them, or if you just want to ensure that your cat’s diet is providing them with what they need to live a healthy, happy and long life, please reach out. I’d love to help you and your cat Book in a free chat via the link in my bio or just PM me xx . . .
