25.01.2022 Despite the name, athlete’s foot can be caught by anyone. This fungal infection occurs when tinea fungus grows on the feet, which can be caught through direct contact with an infected person, or by touching contaminated surfaces. The fungus thrives in warm, moist environments, and can commonly be found in shared showers, on locker room floors, and around swimming pools.... You may be at increased risk of catching athlete’s foot if you: Share socks, shoes, or towels with an infected person. Walk around barefoot in public areas such as changing rooms and showers. Wear tight, closed-toe shoes. Keep your feet wet for long periods of time. Have sweaty feet. To prevent athlete’s foot, make sure you: Wash your feet with soap and water every day and dry thoroughly, especially between the toes. Wash socks, bedding and towels in hot water. Use antifungal powder on your feet. Don’t share socks, shoes, or towels. Wear sandals in public showers, around public swimming pools, and in other public places. Wear socks and shoes made out of breathable materials. Change your socks regularly. If your feet get very sweaty, change your socks twice a day. Air out your feet when you are at home. Athlete’s foot isn’t serious, but sometimes it can be hard to cure. If you have any symptoms visit your local pharmacist, and if your symptoms don’t improve see your GP.

Then call 000 - assume every snake is venomous in South Australia.... . 1Keep the person calm and still this helps slow the spread of venom through the lymphatic system. 2DO NOT WASH OR SUCK THE WOUND. 3Apply a pressure immobilisation bandage to the bite (any stretchy material will do). 4DO NOT USE a tourniquet to cut off blood supply. 5Apply the bandage tightly, as you would to a sprain, but not so tight it acts as a tourniquet. 6Extend the bandage to cover all of the bitten limb (including fingers and toes). 7Splint the limb to keep it from moving. 8Stay calm until help/emergency transport arrives. . If faced with a cardiac arrest situation and an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is available, follow instructions provided by the device. See more

07.01.2022 While we have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases from overseas recently, South Australia continues to take every precaution to manage the international arrivals and medi-hotel process to keep our community safe. Australians returning home from overseas are treated as potentially having COVID-19. Managing these flight arrivals is a very organised and controlled process, supported by multiple government agencies.... Everyone involved in the process wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times. ‘Hot zones’ are established within the airport to protect staff and other passengers. When the flight arrives, passengers are greeted by border nurses. They are asked to use hand sanitiser and put on a new face mask. They have their temperature taken and a welfare check. Then they go through the usual re-entry process such as customs, immigration and biosecurity. People collect their own luggage and are escorted to a bus, which will take them to their hotel quarantine. When they arrive at the supervised medi-hotel they check-in and are provided with further information about quarantine requirements. They are then escorted to their room where they will stay for 14 days. All people are tested for coronavirus when they arrive at the hotel and before leaving quarantine. If someone tests positive while in quarantine, they may have to stay in quarantine for longer and until cleared of the virus. They also have daily welfare checks and will be tested if they become unwell.
