25.01.2022 Congratulations to two of our sector partners, Housing Choices South Australia and Uniting Communities, having been recognised at the recent Urban Development Institute of Australia awards. Housing Choices received the Aged Care and Community Housing Award for Spence on Light - a development that supports older people with limited housing options to access new homes that will allow them to comfortably age in place. While Uniting Communities took home the Innovation in Dev...elopment Award for U City, - an innovative mixed-use development right in the heart of Adelaide, where all parts of our community can live and work together. We are proud to have worked in close partnership on both of these projects, helping to create better housing choices for people living with a disability and older members of our community. Well done and keep up the good work!

21.01.2022 Meet Fiona, she’s one of our Tenancy Practitioners at the Croydon Park housing office. Recently, Fiona achieved a fantastic outcome helping one of our customers to vastly improve their property condition and avoid eviction. Fiona advocated for the customer, supporting and encouraging her through regular contact several times a week. With Fiona’s help and understanding, and a referral to additional support services, the customer began the process of cleaning up thei...r property. The customer is now on a much brighter path and doesn’t risk being evicted from their property. Thanks Fiona, what a great result!

20.01.2022 NAIDOC Week kicks off this Sunday! SA Housing Authority’s reconciliation journey is ongoing. Every significant acknowledgement, celebration and learning further embeds reconciliation into our organisation and ensures we provide a cultural lens on everything we do.... We want to encourage our staff and all South Australians to continue to build their awareness and knowledge so that we can work towards a culture of acknowledgement, empathy and genuine understanding. This also creates a safe environment where our Aboriginal staff and Aboriginal customers feel valued and respected. Why not start your NAIDOC Week with a visit to the South Australian Museum's new Women’s Work exhibition - a fantastic collection of photographs celebrating the diverse and often unheralded leadership of Aboriginal women in our community, see www.samuseum.sa.gov.au/event/womenswork.

17.01.2022 We are excited to continue our work to modernise the state’s social housing system in partnership with the housing sector - to deliver better, fairer and more efficient services to South Australians. As part of the upcoming consultation with key stakeholders, we will be reviewing the current eligibility criteria for social housing and making it easier for our customers to access the services they need, when they need them - with more services available online. The reform...s will not result in anyone currently in public housing losing their tenancy, but will improve the state’s housing system so more South Australians can break into homeownership and build a brighter future. Modernising the social housing system is part of the 10-year Our Housing Future 2020-2030 strategy. You can learn more about the strategy online at www.housing.sa.gov.au/ourhousingfuture.

17.01.2022 We’re supporting the 16 days of Activism, an international campaign to end all forms of violence against women and girls. Today also marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day to acknowledge and stand with all women and girls who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence, as we continue to work together to create a world where everyone can live free of violence and have equal opportunities. We’re proud to fund domestic and fa...mily violence services in South Australia that support women and their children to stay safe and live to their full potential. We should all have the right to feel safe in our homes and workplaces - domestic and family violence is a fundamental breach of human rights and it's everyone’s business to address and eliminate. For more information and resources about the 16 days of Activism campaign, visit https://16dayscampaign.org/.
