Popularised in European couturiers in 18th C, Tambour beading is an embroidery technique featuring beads and sequins that is worked on a transparent fabric and is pulled tight on the frame, like the surface of a drum. . This became an effective technique to elevate designs of bridal couture and fashion catwalks. The method involves beads or sequins threaded through ...one at a time on the underside of the fabric as the embroiderer uses the hooked needle to create a chain stitch on the top of the fabric.
