22.01.2022 Congratulations to long term member Dirk on receiving a "Life Membership" to Sailability Toronto. Members surprised Dirk with a presentation at his home on Thursday 23 July 2020. Dirk wishes to thank the members of Sailability Toronto for bestowing this privilege on him.

21.01.2022 Thursday 3 December 2020 IS, International Day of People with Disability. SO, what better day to have a Volunteer trial using our COVID SAFE PLAN!... Volunteers attended with our COVID marshall going through the guidelines of our plan and the shed being set up with a stock of all that will be needed including masks, sanitizer & gloves. One boat was then removed from the shed, rigged, launched and a test run completed for assisting a client sailor in & out of the boat. We are holding another trial day on Thursday 10 December 2020, for Volunteers and two invited individual client sailors. We hope to commence taking client sailors from the end of January early February 2021, however, numbers will be limited at each session. Though as you are all aware we are certainly in a time of constant change and our COVID SAFE PLAN will need regular updates and our plans can change in an instant. If you need further information in regards to Sailability Toronto please email [email protected]

20.01.2022 Hoping everyone had a wonderful long weekend. We are all looking forward to getting back to Sailing and the committee are working towards achieving this. Australia Sailing NSW & ACT recently issued this advice:... From Saturday 26 September Organisations must ensure their activity is delivered in compliance with the Public Health Order and the COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements. This includes the requirement to adhere to the 500-person limit for community sport activities (including participants, officials and spectators) and/or adhering to the one person per four square metre rule in indoor spaces. Organisations and spectators are to ensure that physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres is maintained between people that do not come from the same household. Sailing organisations and participants should continue to avoid shared travel arrangements such as car-pooling, along with minimising social gatherings before and after the event. Australian Sailing are continuing to push further for allowances with NSW Health to best ensure sailing is able to proceed going forward in a normal fashion. If you have any questions regarding Sailability Toronto please email [email protected]

16.01.2022 You must watch this - not sailing, but what disability??

15.01.2022 Message from the Committee:- Just an update on where we are in relation to a return to sailing at Toronto Some of the Sailability Toronto executive met this week to understand the current Health directives, and the Sailability NSW rules. Basically, we are required to comply with social distancing rules, and maintain 1.5m between people, and no physical touching at all.... We think that these restrictions would make a return to sailing impractical at the moment. We would be restricted to one person in each boat, and we would be unable to use the crane, or to help sailors into and out of the boats. We expect the situation to change as time goes by, and we’ll be meeting monthly to review how and when we can return to sailing. We’re all hoping that by the start of October we may be able to return to sailing in a safe environment for all our members.
