23.01.2022 Excellent safety video from NSW Maritime, Terry Wise and Pacific Sailing School.

@brb_bancodebrasilia See more

19.01.2022 Jovin Tan is Singapore's first sailing coach with disability. Hear from the four-time Paralympian as he shares about the Learn to Sail (LTS) Programme and how b...oth able-bodied individuals and PWDs can learn sailing together. Participants learn sailing over the course of 6 weeks at Changi Sailing Club. Jovin was a participant of the LTS Programme many years ago, and today, he coaches the Programme with the help of the community. 18.01.2022 Another top day with our hosts at Dobroyd Aquatic Club. Five boats raced 4 singles. Great to see the improvements, Mike sailed the right side of the long work and gained a big lead, top sailing!

18.01.2022 Regional Sailability ask the city not to sail with them yet.

18.01.2022 There's nothing like a walk on the beach. Zac was able to make it to the shore at Malabar Beach after Randwick City Council installed an accessibility walkway.... "Thank you so much for providing accessibility for all especially our little boy Zac who has a spinal cord injury," mum Carmela said. "He had the best day walking independently to the shore at Malabar Beach." Randwick City Council

17.01.2022 Sailing4AllPtown creates many pathways for our public to grow; this is one where our people can reach for the stars. It is so vital that this cause will live on... forever. We urge the Provincetown governance to think about that; then reach out to work with us. Stay tuned the updated strategic plan and petition will be out soon. https://www.insidethegames.biz//sailing-aim-for-la-2028-pa See more

17.01.2022 Very committed and very generous with his time. A great bloke.

17.01.2022 Yesterday, the Waller Cup 2020. Liberty Class On top of the beauty of colorful boats at sea, the sailors you see here have more strength and dedication that yo...u think. We were far into the harbour, with the wind and the clouds coming and going. I like shooting in manual, the bouncing boat and the unexpected changes of the light is quite an experience for this photographer. It’s an honor for me be part of Sailability Auckland and keep record of this event. I am very thankful to Tim Dempsey for letting me be a part of this and Rob Foster for his guidance and patience when I volunteer on Saturdays.

15.01.2022 Well done Chris Symonds!

15.01.2022 Great day yesterday visiting Frensham Ponds Sailing Club Sailability. Saturday turned out to be the best day for us to visit as their youth development programs were running. We were able to watch the Sailability syllabus and awards system in action. I was honoured to present a young man Andrew with his Platinum Certificate and Badge, this is the highest level in the RYA Sailability system, he really enjoys his sailing and works hard at it. We were impressed by a number of th...eir processes particularly the welcome process, this empowers the sailor who arrives, decides what type of boat they want sail and I think with who they sail? This process has a online component that tracks a member's progressive payments. There were other process and technical setups that we thought were very good. The UK Intruduction to Sailing in a Hansa 2.3 or 303 booklet is very high quality. We were made very welcome by the team Ivor, Brian, Lisa,Tony and others. It was a very positive exchange of ideas. A big thank you to Tom Flintham for organising the visit and for chauffeuring us to and from.

12.01.2022 Great boat handling!

12.01.2022 Great to see you getting back on the water. Keen to get down there for a sail!

12.01.2022 Fantastic article from Massimo Dighe! A must read

11.01.2022 Great article in the Farnham Herald.

10.01.2022 When you have a "regular" child, you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close ...friends. They get invited to participate in social things like dances and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditioned organizations and clubs. And you give little thought to them remaining academically eligible for UIL participation. But when you have a child with certain differences, this is often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and assignments a battle ground at home. It is exhausting for parent and child alike. This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness. For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognize their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people. Recognize that the "playing field" is not always a level surface. Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted. If you choose, please copy and paste this in honor of all children who are deemed "different". Our world would be far less beautiful without them. All they want is to have a friend...let that sink in...they JUST. WANT. A. FRIEND. Thank you Christine Vater. See more

10.01.2022 Although sadly we're not sailing at the moment it's a delight to share this lovely message from one of the participants on the Scallywag program: My name is He...rbert, and I will start ninth grade at Chi Lin Buddhist Secondary School in September this year. I love painting as it allows me to express, record everyday memories through my paintbrush. Although I struggle in speech expression, personality control, and social skills, last June, I participated in the sailing training organized by the Hong Kong Scallywag Project. Our instructor, Paul Sir, is an incredibly patient teacher. Given my circumstances and struggles, along with the other participants, he was a very patient and tolerant instructor when teaching us about sailing. Throughout the program, Paul Sir has taught us different components of sailing such as safety precautions whilst on water, loading, receiving, wind direction, and controlling of the sailing boat. As a person who has never been near water at a young age and gets nervous around water, Paul Sir and this program has transformed me into an active, confident sailor. During the training, I thought I would give up halfway due to the blistering heat and hard work required. However, I fell in love with sailing in the end. I am very happy to be a participant in the Scallywag project. I am very grateful to Sun Hung Kai Foundation, Sailability founders Mike and Kay, and Paul Sir for his hard work and I will persist with my hard work in the near future. ---------- 2020 is proving to be a challenging year for Sailability, with some of our fund raising events cancelled or postponed. If you can make a donation every gift is hugely appreciated. For more information click: https://www.sailabilityhk.org/donate #SAILABILITYHONGKONG #HHYC #RHKYC #SCALLYWAG

09.01.2022 Sarah Plunkett!

09.01.2022 To conclude our stories for #NationalVolunteeringWeek, former Fireball sailor and professional ocean racer Lee Baird tells us about why he volunteers for Rutlan...d Sailability and Leicestershire and Rutland Youth Sailing Association. Lee was forced to retire from yacht racing after becoming seriously ill with stomach cancer at the age of 64 and describing his journey into volunteering, says: I used to compete all over the world on boats ranging from the Cork 1720 up to the IMOCA open 60 and the lifestyle was like that of a celebrity. I’d been on top of the world when all of a sudden everything just tumbled to the bottom. On my recovery I was just moaning and groaning around the house because I felt I’d lost everything, and I was encouraged to join Rutland Sailability as a volunteer. When you’re down it’s really hard to find something to pull you out but I got that from Sailability. Being a volunteer also gave me the chance to think about and appreciate all the people and friends who encouraged me to achieve my career in sailing. It’s very hard to say thanks to all of them, there have been so many, but if it wasn’t for the kindness of those who were willing to help, I would not have been able to reach my goals in Fireball sailing and ocean racing. Volunteering has given me the opportunity to help others who would like to take part in the sport and encourage junior sailors in Rutland and Leicestershire. Thanks to support from the Challenger Class Association and volunteers from Rutland and Peterborough Sailability, we were also able to send two second-hand trimarans to help start a Sailability programme in Antigua, and when you see what it’s now become, it makes me proud. What I find rewarding about volunteering is when I’m driving home from Rutland and have the memory of a kid or someone in a wheelchair whose said ‘thanks for helping’ it does bring a smile to your face and it’s a wonderful feeling. It’s worth more than all the trophies and bits of silver on the mantelpiece. It makes you feel ‘I’ve done something with my day’. By opening a door for someone you can make such a big difference. 03.01.2022 Sailing Success Stories Start with Sabot #Repost @tslingsby with @make_repost Mum just found this pic of little old me back in 1995. Why I am facing backwa...rds, I don’t know. Why my eyes are closed, I don’t know. But I seem to be having a great time. When I first started sailing racing I was teamed up with my sister. She had to pay me 20cents per race to stay on board the boat and not swim to shore. Even after I started enjoying it out there, I would not tell her so she kept on paying See more

03.01.2022 Interesting footage unfortunately not much para though.
