25.01.2022 Over the last few weeks the #orangevolvo championing Sailabilty WA, has continued in the Repco Reliability Challenge as car #7. While in Perth, they had a fun day down at TARGA WEST, Langley Park undertaking some time trials and then popped down to RPYC for an hour where Sailability Members, Participants and Friends chatted to Alan and his co-driver Ray, and looked over the car. The next day they headed to Barbagallo Race Track and then off to Geraldton via Jurien Bay which was the lunch stop. Car #7 has raised the profile of Sailability WA on their journey with someone even making a donation on the spot after hearing what Sailability does. The round Australia rally of 28 days finishes this weekend in Melbourne, so here a few more photos from the journey up along the WA coast, through the NT, over to QLD and into NSW.

13.01.2022 The only Australian entry in the 2019 World Blind Sailing Championships in Kingston Canada is the ‘Lost at See’ Team. For the last few months the team comprising Kylie Forth, Erin McGlew, Todd Back and Colin Harrison have been busy on the water and in the club house practicing and strategising. They have also been fundraising to enable them to travel and compete in Canada. ... Kylie and Erin have been sailing together since 2010 and will be joined by two other crew members - a tactician Colin and a jib hand Todd who are both sighted. Kylie is a member Sailability at RPYC and by participating in these events significantly raises the profile of sailing for people with limited vision and other disabilities. She is also a great ambassador for Sailability. All at Sailability wish the ‘Lost at See’ Team the best of luck !

07.01.2022 Thanks to Rob Crofts, Competitor and Sailabilty WA Committee Member for this informative post. He did OK in the races if you need the abridged version !! Hansa Class - WA Sailing Championships 2020 ... The WA Hansa Class juggernaut has just wrapped up at Princess Royal Sailing Club in Albany. Congratulations to Commodore Susette Evans for staging such a magnificent regatta and sincere thanks to Sailabilty Albany and all PRSC volunteers and members for the incredible suppor...t and warm welcome. Special acknowledgement and thanks to AUS Para Sailing Coach Grant Alderson for on-water support and high performance coaching to all competitors across the Hansa 303 (single), Hansa 303 (double) and Hansa Liberty fleets.. an absolutely massive task all undertaken with a friendly smile and a positive word of encouragement. On behalf of all competitors Grant!!.. massive appreciation and thanks for spending another precious weekend away from family, for the greater good of the Hansa Class and the development of Para Sailing in Western Australia. Thanks also to Sailabilty WA for sponsoring Grant’s regatta participation. Competitors were challenged at times by a diverse range of weather conditions, akin to Melbourne.. with four seasons in a day and at times quite fierce winds gusting 20 knots + combined with some dramatic wind shifts causing havoc across all fleets, in particular during the afternoon session on Saturday!! The racing was incredibly competitive over the weekend with multiple consecutive races determined by less than a boat length. The future certainly looks very bright for the Hansa Class and Para Sailing in WA.. well done everyone!! On a personal level, I’m very proud and somewhat relieved to have sailed well over the weekend to achieve wins in both the Hansa 303 (single) and Hansa Liberty categories. It has been a manic year of coaching and travel to regatta’s in Spain, QLD, Vic and back home in WA. Some really fabulous travel memories and road trips with Grant Alderson .. thanks for all your hard work Coach!! Finally, sincere thanks to local media and also Warren Erasmus and Seven West Media for the excellent regatta coverage in The West Australian.
