25.01.2022 ASBN ZOOM EVENT SustainabiliTEA with ASBN Session #2 - What Do You Mean Zero? WED NOV 25 | 10.00-11.00AM FREE https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/sustainabilitea-wi...th-asbn-s -------- When a building is described as #ZeroCarbon / #NetZero / #CarbonNeutral / #ZeroEmbodiedEnergy what does it even mean?! #terminologyoverload Please join us via Zoom for some tea (or beverage of your choice) and a chat to clarify what is meant by green building terms normally used interchangeably; Zero Carbon / Net Zero / Carbon Neutral / Zero Embodied Energy. Ken Long, Chairperson of the ASBN and ESD Consultant with Dsquared Consulting, will kick off our conversation by outlining what these terms refer to in the green building space and the various building certifications which align with them. Our hosts will then open up the conversation for questions and comments from the community. This session will be hosted by ASBN committee members Yaara Plaves, Associate and Head of the National Sustainability Forum at Hames Sharley, and Tyler Lawrence, Engineer at Lucid Consulting Australia. We look forward to connecting with you virtually with a soothing cuppa! #theASBNexperience #sustainabledesign #regenerativedesign https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/sustainabilitea-with-asbn-s

10.01.2022 2020 AILA LAND-E-SCAPE_ . . If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that complacency is something we can no longer afford. As landscape architects we recognise the... complex interconnectedness of planetary systems, and the dynamic relationships between people, places and other living entities. We also recognise that we can choose the way we move forward. In a year marked by the ferocious sorrows of bushfire, Black Lives Matter, and COVID we have also been given the opportunity to pause. Land-e-Scape: Reset - towards healing invites landscape architects to collectively pause, reflect, discuss and explore the ways our profession can contribute to what comes next. How do we heal our relationships with nature, with the places we live, work and play, and with each other? . . The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects - AILA is excited to launch a virtual conference escape in 2020. Join colleagues from across Australia and the globe as we create something new and exciting to enable members to learn, engage and connect. Land-E-Scape will be held on a dedicated virtual platform over four days where we will explore Recuperation, Repair, Restore & Reparation through the lens of landscape architecture. . . Registration includes access to the Land-E-Scape website platform. Login details will be sent out at least one week prior to the event start date. Individual registrations are required for this event. Companies are able to purchase group passes to attend. CPD points will be automatically allocated from your attendance at the event. You can choose from a day pass or a Full Pass (an all access pass) that will see all activities covered from Monday to Thursday. . . Early bird day passes & four day passes are now on sale until September 30th... then you'll have to pay full price so get in quick - click on the click below to cop! . . https://www.aila.org.au//Eve/AILA_Event_Registration.aspx See more

06.01.2022 In the lead up to NAIDOC WEEK (8-15 November) we will be sharing events and resources that might be of interest. // Recommended Reading Living on Stolen Land... Ambelin Kwaymullina Living on Stolen Land is a prose-styled look at our colonial-settler ‘present’. This book is the first of its kind to address and educate a broad audience about the colonial contextual history of Australia, in a highly original way. It pulls apart the myths at the heart of our nationhood, and challenges Australia to come to terms with its own past and its place within and on ‘Indigenous Countries’. This title speaks to many First Nations’ truths; stolen lands, sovereignties, time, decolonisation, First Nations perspectives, systemic bias and other constructs that inform our present discussions and ever-expanding understanding. This title is a timely, thought-provoking and accessible read. https://www.magabala.com/products/living-on-stolen-land . . . . #NAIDOC2020 #reconciliation #landscapearchitecture #ailasa
