20.01.2022 ~ GRSC Lasar Race Report Saturday 24th October 2020~ David Robson was on Starter Duty this week and said it "Was a great day to be on the covered start boat. Ra...ining with not much wind and 40-degree wind shifts.yuch". The results show that consistency was the key to a good result with Bruce Hilleard having a good day staying out of trouble and getting good starts at the Pin. The rest of us had premature starts and subsequent Individual recalls, tangled messes at the top mark, going the wrong way up the beat (right not good) and negotiating the bottom mark with a bunch of Aeros competing in their Travellers Trophy. Results 1. Fade to Grey - Bruce Hilleard (3, 2, 1, 5, 1, 2) 2. Finesse - Brian Ferguson (4, 1, 7, 1, 4, 1) 3. Mischief - David Early (1, 4, 3, 6, 3, 4) 4. Barry Crocker - Ian Young (6, 6, 4, 3, 2, 8) 5. Satu Lagi - Mark Hooper (9, 3, 9, 2, 5, 3) 6. Drunken Pirate - Martin Wilson (7, 5, 2, 4, 7, 6) 7. Waverunner - Per Gustafsson (5, 9, 6, 9, 8, 5) 8. Salt - Tim Neale (2, 8, 8, 7, 9, 9) 9. Klingons on the starboard bow - Steve Bolton (, 7, 5, 8, 6, 10) 10. Gubbly - Nick Coates (8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 7) Next Saturday is a pointscore with handicap start followed by two scratch starts.

14.01.2022 GRSC TASAR REPORT Sunday 15 Nov 2020 This afternoon must have been GRSC Tasar' s best racing session this season!! Mod-fresh ENE's & brilliant sunny skies s...et the scene for races out on the Bay where crews co-sailed with a multitude of RS Aero 's undertaking DAY 2 of their NSW STATE TITLES. Included in the latter were Gary & Mark who respectively claimed RS Aero 7 & 9 NSW STATE CHAMPIONS ~ congratulations!! Back to our Tasars .. Without 3 of our competitive boats sailing due to the Aeros, racing was fun and quite generally an 'even' playing field. The key was as always, picking the shifts, constantly fine tuning & keeping the boat flat plus getting good acceleration out of tacks. Obtaining a good Start helps as well. The afternoon's 2 races however were owned on scratch by INDEFENSIBLE (Bern & Jen) who despite overshooting the finish line on Race 2, were lucky to have #burnedbabyberned on a reach back to grab the line 1st. 2nds & 3rds were shared by TASARED TWICE (Gav & Robyn) & LIKE LIGHTNING (Chris & Matty). Making 1st time appearance this season in HAYWIRE were Greg & Renae, still hot on everyone's heals today with 4ths overall, then ON TOUR (Ian & Laurie) sporting a new top section & fine tuning it to make Race 2, finishing 5th. NEXT WEEK Don't forget at Georges River 16ft Sailing Club, it's Tasar Association of NSW 's 1st Travellers Trophy to run off their Summer Program. It will be run in conjunction with normal Club races. Club members however are invited to join up with Assoc Membership on the day if they wish to be eligible for TT Prizes. If you have any questions, please pass them onto Class Capt' Mark during the week. See you all next Sunday!! :) See more

14.01.2022 ~ GRSC Tasar Race Report Sunday 13 Sept ~ Thanks to Jenny Sorensen for this weeks report. A great afternoon of sailing was had on Sunday to mark the official st...art of the season. Once the shed doors were open, it began with the usual investigation of finding your spar on the rack, pumping up the odd flat (dolly) tyre or 2 & carrying out some preliminary race repairs. Then it was onto the major task of re configuring `how to rig a Tasar’. With so much to do & say & catch up on, it was no time at all when suddenly .. `Hi folks, its Pre Race Briefing’. Class Capt Mark delivered the plan for the afternoon’s racing .. `Well today, we’ll have a gate start and run some sprints around some fixed marks. If this sounded interesting, it was! .. and although a `WNW tending occasionally W’ breeze of only 6kts prevailed at 1pm, it picked up to high teens & gusting to low 20kts by finish of races at 3.30pm . Thus in procession, Indecisive was first off the beach to the opposite shoreline at Towra Point ~ our rendezvous meeting area where the rabbit was to graze. Gradually 6 more Tasars took to the waters including Jen’s new boat `On Tour’ manned this season by ex 470/18’s helm, Ian Pretty sailing with Laurie Hoffman from Balmoral. `Like Lightning’ also sported a new 3rd crew member `Petra’ who claimed top deck on her dad’s boat in the earlier light breeze. With the remaining crews on `Dr Zeus’, `Shaw Thin’ &` Cruz’n’ being rounded up by the `Ratz’, we were set for the 1st start of 4 sprint races .. one windward towards the Club & back, then 3 triangles with beats to the Club & 2 reach legs which pushed into tide (up into the Bay) then across. During the last 2 races we were feeling some nice pressure & getting into planing. The conditions were perfect to brush off all remaining cobwebs. As it happened on the last leg of the last race, a luxury motor cruiser stole our finish marker’s `mooring buoy’.. a sign to confirm we were done for the day. After all, the afternoon was all about just getting out there, practicing & having fun! Next week is the first Spring Pointscore with Gary and Robyn scheduled to help get the safety boats ready, launch, retrieve and pack away.

I will be the starter and we will be trialling 3 minute starts instead of the usual 5 minutes to cut down the wait time from starting 2 fleets.

Stransky in the Radials and Matt Wearn, Sam Meech, George Gautrey and Finn Alexander in the Standards.
