17.01.2022 When is too much sailing not enough ? Last Saturday we had the combined Pulbah Race with LMYC, on Monday/Tuesday we had the Police and Emergency Services Regatta and on Wednesday we had the usual Twilight Race. This Saturday is the annual Endeavor Marine 30 Miler.... Jan took these photos on Wednesday evening from "Austral"

15.01.2022 Christmas on a boat... Twas the night before Christmas, I swung on the hook. Passed out on the settee, asleep with my book. When up on the deck I heard foo...tsteps and stuff: I’ve been boarded! I thought, so I tried to be tough. Then down the companionway hatch came a dude. He was dressed like a nut and I thought well I'm screwed! But he laughed and he hummed and he surveyed my junk. So I figured he must be the resident drunk. His eyes were lit up like a junkie on speed. But he gave me a whole bunch of stuff that I need. Like rum and cigars, new charts and a dinghy plus some kind of fancy electrical thingy. I thought it was stolen but I wasn’t telling. I hoped he was giving and wasn’t just selling. I poured him a grog which he downed with a wink. Then I poured one for me (I sure needed a drink). Then he staggered above to the dark tropic night. As I peaked I beheld an incredible sight. Eight tiny dolphins and a beautiful sleigh. And the dude hopped aboard and prepared to make way. The dolphins were ready to power the sled, but the guy raised a jenny and mains’l instead. With a burp and a chuckle he gathered the breeze and called to the dolphins now swimming with ease. On Fatty and Foxy and old Barracuda! On Teva and Mountgay, Antigua, Barbuda! Or whatever your names you cute little fishes, here’s to every last sailor, my best Christmas wishes. As he sailed away leaving a wobbly wake, I hoped he had not many stops left to make. He got close to shore and he soon was aground, but the dolphins proceeded to pull him around. And I heard him exclaim as he sailed out of sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night." See more

13.01.2022 Some fantastic photos Helen ... thank you for sharing

09.01.2022 Just the size of the boat has changed since figtree appeared in 1980, Santa still looks the same in 2020, just 40 years later. Great tradition doing the cruise around the lake with Santa on board the RMYC flagship which started with the "Wangi Queen". This year we had the biggest flotilla of craft ever following Santa from Bolton Point Park, Figtree, then past the RMYC, then Regatta Walk Park, along the eastern shore past Princes Bay, Carey Bay, Bareenia Bay, Coal Point, Skye Point, Kilaben, Rathmines, Fishing Poit, Secret Bay, Wangi and back to the RMYC, all in 4 hours.

08.01.2022 This sums up todays RKR race. Everyone was completely frazzled by the end, hottest day on the water in living memory. Hot scorching norwester 7 to 22 knots kept the fleet moving but not without drama, a day best forgotten by most crews.

08.01.2022 It doesn't get much better than this when you get the opportunity to soak up the serenity off Dewey Point in this weeks twilight race

08.01.2022 Great photos Helen

05.01.2022 Some photographs from todays scorcher in the fourth race of the combined RK Robertson LMYC, RMYC and WASC fleets. The hot noreast breeze varied from 7 to 22 knots. Kerinda was the best of the RMYC yachts.

03.01.2022 Close finish bewteen "Inner Circle", "Stampede" and "Austral"

03.01.2022 These are some of the highlights of the sailing activity off Carey Bay today. There was all manner of craft out today including foiling moths and yachtees just soaking up the serenity. What else would you want to be doing with a gentle 8 to 14 knot East South Easterly sea breeze ?

01.01.2022 This was soon after the start of division 1 race today. Challenge got the best start but Foreplay and Austral went right, It payed off as Austral was todays winner followed by Foreplay in second and Challenge third. Photo thanks to Jos on Figtree.
