For media 20 November 2020 Hampers to bring hope this Christmas Hundreds of Bayside families doing it tough are looking forward to ...some much-needed Christmas cheer as two local organisations prepare to provide food hampers and gifts for children. Donations are being sought by Mangrove Housing and St Peter’s Anglican Church Wynnum for their respective campaigns, with both groups stepping up to help out Bayside families this holiday season. Member for Lytton Joan Pease was glowing with praise for Mangrove and St Peter’s for their efforts to help the less fortunate. These hamper campaigns are an amazing example of our community coming together to help each other out, she said. Christmas is such a special time, but it can be really stressful and alienating if you’re under the pump financially. By donating hampers and presents, we can let those people know that they are cared for and provide a little bit of Christmas joy. Ms Pease said she had made her office available as a drop-off point for both campaigns. I urge the Bayside to get on board. I’m taking donations of non-perishable food and toys at my office at 100 Edith Street. Donations can also be made directly to Mangrove Housing (07 3893 3299) and St Peter’s Anglican Church (3893 2492). See more
