24.01.2022 Introducing Mike Barr - Exhibiting at the Saint Ignatius Art Show 2019 Mike is an Adelaide-based impressionist painter with a penchant for rain in the city and beaches. He started his artistic life as a potter and participated in an exhibition with Adelaide’s best when only 19 years of age. It is just over 10 years ago since he started painting in acrylics and oils and has gained over 50 awards during this time. The beautiful beaches of Adelaide and the state of South Austral...ia have inspired Mike to convey their sense of wonder through his work. He believes that the sky holds the key to most paintings, particularly at the beach where the sky is uninterrupted by buildings it’s here that we experience a real sense of space. Mike is well-known in Adelaide and Melbourne for his rainy street scenes and was recognised by being part of a publication ‘The Art of Being Melbourne’ in which the city’s history from gold-rush days through to today is recorded through its artists. As well as participating in many solo and group exhibitions in Adelaide and Melbourne, Mike is a contributing author to both the Australian Artist magazine and the UK magazine, The Artist.

22.01.2022 To the South Australian Art Community, The Saint Ignatius College Art Show is a biennial SALA event that was next scheduled for August 2021, however, due to the disruption that will be caused by construction of a new multi-purpose building at the Norwood campus during 2021, it has been decided to defer the Saint Ignatius Art Show until August 2022. The 2022 Art Show will be hosted in this brand new, indoor location! We are aware of the hardships COVID-19 has caused the arts i...ndustry and we remain committed to supporting SA artists and the arts. As such, in lieu of our 2021 event, we will be exploring options to participate in and support SALA in different ways next year. This may involve hosting a small works exhibition, offering spaces as venues to host artist exhibitions as well as promoting the SALA Festival and local exhibitions within our College community. We look forward to being able to provide you with more details regarding options for 2021 and more information about the 2022 event in our exciting new venue. Belinda Chhabria Convenor

20.01.2022 Introducing Emma Young - Exhibiting at the Saint Ignatius Art Show 2019 Emma Young studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia, specialising in glass. Further pursuing her interest in blown glass techniques, Emma has participated in various master classes taken by internationally renowned glass artists. Emma has come to JamFactory to further establish her practice as a glass designer/maker. Her uniquely South Australian approach is inspired by local... icons and childhood memories, and is clearly evident in the bright, bold works she creates, cleverly utilising both hot sculpting and blown techniques. I enjoy using vivid colours in forms that serve both function and aesthetic.

Considered to be the ‘porcelain capital of the world’, Jingdezhen is an area steeped in centuries of ceramic practice.
