22.01.2022 On Thursday evening we held the annual St Martins Lutheran College Art Show Exhibition. This year the theme of the Art Show was 'Iso'. It was fascinating to see how the students interpreted this through a variety of mediums. While the evening's traditional format was impacted due to COVID-19, there were still some fantastic performances from the College's music students.... It was great to see the families of our Stage 1 and 2 artists at the 2020 Art Show.
21.01.2022 Today at the College, we held our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. All students, teachers and staff came together to pay respect to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country and those who are currently serving around the world. The service featured a Catafalque party, made up of our students involved with the local Army Cadets. The College's Junior School Captains delivered the Prayer of Remembrance, while Year 7 student Christopher Mossford-MacGregor played... The Last Post. Our Air Force Cadets assisted Foundation students in raising the Australian flag before the Junior School students laid wreaths that they had made in class. It was an excellent service and well done to all that made it such a special event.
21.01.2022 | In May, St Martins launched a new initiative, aimed to support College Family Businesses. At St Martins, we recognise that our community is made up of many hard working families. 'College Connection’ is a directory of local, family-owned businesses that are connected to the school Community. The directory is located on the College website and promoted through the St Martins newsletter and social media pages. The hope is that members of the College community will support these local family businesses and ensure that we continue to stand Stronger Together.
20.01.2022 | In July and at the start of Term 3, students moved into the latest development at the College! The new two-storey Food, Hospitality and Art Centre features 2 dedicated art classrooms, a general learning classroom, student breakout spaces and an art store room on the first floor. The ground level consists of a fully equipped commercial kitchen, walk in pantry, cool room and a food technology classroom with 12 student kitchens!

18.01.2022 On Thursday afternoon, the College's Junior School classes put together a very special Christmas Concert! Originally planned to be a big College community event, this year's concert was sadly a closed event and filmed for families. This did not deter the enthusiasm of the students, as they had a fun and entertaining afternoon performing all their favourite seasonal songs! Junior School families will be sent their class performances in the following week.
14.01.2022 | In March, the ever-popular Junior School Athletics Day took place! Well done to Tremelling for coming out on top to take out the 2020 Shield!
14.01.2022 This morning our Senior Class of 2020 took part in their annual group breakfast and scavenger hunt! The Year 12 cohort had a beautiful BBQ breakfast cooked for them by College staff. They then split up into groups and were sent on missions around the College. The students then continued on with their fun day throughout the city.... We wish them all the best as they the beginning of exams next week!
13.01.2022 Today was Grandfriends Day at the College! In the past, our special members of the community have been invited to a morning tea and in-class activities with the students. However this year, the junior school students still wanted Grandfriends to visit, so they planned a very unique Grandfriends Guard of Honour around the entrance of the College and through the carpark! Our VIP guests were able to see the beautiful signs made by the students, while in the comfort of their ...vehicles! Nearly 120 vehicles came through the Grandfriends Guard of Honour and it was enjoyed by young and old alike! We’d like to thank all our Nan’s, Pa’s and all the Grandfriends that made the effort to come out and visit this morning!
10.01.2022 | In April, Parents, Carers and Students found themselves in a very unique situation, where COVID-19 forced students across the state to begin remote learning. This brought with it some difficult times for all, however out of it, students, families and the College developed new strategies to overcome these challenges.
09.01.2022 Students across all year levels were able to enjoy many activities this week to recognise and celebrate NAIDOC Week 2020! Class-room activities included making and eating bush-tucker pizzas and creating ‘stained glass’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. A group of students from Years 6-10 viewed Nunga Screen 2020 at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre. Our Junior School students visited Landscape SA to learn about the ‘yuki’ that is on display there. A yuki is the Boandik term for ‘canoe’ and it is made from the bark of a redgum, located in Kalangadoo.
09.01.2022 ! Today at the College the 'Dollars 4 Collars' group held a stall to raise funds for the South East Animal Welfare League. The Year 7 students took it upon themselves to cook and create items to sell to their classmates. ... The cupcakes, cookies, brownies and home made knitted bunnies were a success as students lined up to purchase them, raising over $100 for the great cause.
06.01.2022 Yesterday morning, the College celebrated the amazing effort of our Year 7, 8 and 9 students at the 2020 Middle School Service and Awards Presentation. Head of Middle School, Mr Damian Bradley compered the event, that was also live streamed to families. The service featured our Year 9 SRC members and Middle School musical performances. The College also farewelled some key Middle school staff at the Service. We wish Mr Peter Duffett, Ms Ashley Whan, Mr Alex Fiegert and Ms Roxa...nne Thomson all the best as they continue their journey’s away from St Martins in 2021. Well done to all those students who were recognised for their hard work this year!
06.01.2022 | In June, the College's Year 9 & 10 Outdoor Education (South East Discovery) classes were able to get off school grounds and participate in a 2-day canoeing program. Normally, this wouldn't necessarily be big news, but with COVID-19 restrictions easing, this was the first opportunity for students to get out and about since March.
03.01.2022 This morning saw the College’s Senior School come together for the 2020 Valedictory Service. With greater COVID-19 restrictions coming into effect overnight, the Service sadly had to be reduced to only students, teachers and College staff. Families were invited to watch via a live stream of the event. Along with the awards presentation, the Service featured a special College Captains Handover. Our 2020 Captains, David and Naomi Zwijnenburg presented 2021 Captains, Harrison La...nglands and Rachael Bird with their College blazers. Our Senior Choir performed beautifully, however, the treat for our Year 12’s was the traditional performance of the Blessing song by some of the College staff! Congratulations to all the award winners!
02.01.2022 Today, the 11 November marks the anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (191418). 102 years ago, on 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War. Five divisions of the Australian Corps had been at the forefront of the allied advance to victory, but victory had come at a heav...y cost. They suffered almost 48,000 casualties during 1918, including more than 12,000 dead. In the four years of the war, more than 330,000 Australians had served overseas, with more than 60,000 giving their lives. Each year, our College Captains place a wreath at the local monument on Remembrance Day and observe one minute’s silence at 11:00am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Thank you to David and Naomi for doing St Martins Lutheran College proud this morning at Vansittart Park. #lestweforget
01.01.2022 This afternoon, the College’s Year 12 students planned and delivered a very special whole-school Worship. This was the Senior’s final Worship as their time at St Martins concludes, before preparing for exams. Prior to Worship, the year 12’s walked from their common room through the school, then across the oval where a ‘guard of honour’ was set by the rest of the College as part of the tradition known as the Walk of Faith.... In a new tradition, the Year 12’s were also presented with a keyring from our youngest students! The Foundation children drew a picture and placed it in the keyring as a special gift for the year 12s. All the best to our Seniors as they prepare for a busy month ahead.
