23.01.2022 "Neither the tomb, nor death could hold the Theotokos, who is constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercessions. For being the Mother of Life, she was translated to life by the One who dwelt in her virginal womb" (Kontakion). May our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, through the intercessions of His Most Holy and Ever Virgin Mother, grant to all health of body and soul, true happiness and abundant blessings. HAPPY NAME DAY to all those who are celebrating their name day.

21.01.2022 M E S S A G E of His Eminence Archbishop MAKARIOS of Australia for the Year 12 students who are about to do their exams My beloved students and children in the... Lord, Be strong and courageous. Do not fear for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. I want to convey these words from the Old Testament to you along with my blessing and best wishes for your final exams that you will be starting very shortly. This has been a very disruptive year with the restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, be mindful that it is our Lord, Jesus Christ, who is the One governing our lives as long as we turn to Him and ask for His help. So, do not be afraid. There is no room for fear for the people of God. We have a loving Father and a caring Mother in Panagia. Pray to them and ask them to be with you. Do your best; aim high and study hard. But as your Archbishop and Spiritual Father, I want to remind you that the most important measure of success is how close we are to Christ. No matter how well or not so well you do in your exams, all things work together for good to those who love God, as St Paul tells us. Without Him, all the worldly accomplishments mean nothing. Only what lasts for eternity has substance and can make a difference and can transform our everyday lives and that of those around us. Keep Him in the equation of your life and in your relationships. My beloved children, be courageous and confident in the challenge that is set before you. I wholeheartedly extend my support and my own prayers for your success; success for your exams; but, also, success in the choices that you make regarding your personal relationship with Christ and His Church. . May God strengthen and bless all of you. I remain, In Sydney, on the 1st day of October 2020 With fervent paternal prayers, Archbishop MAKARIOS Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia .. , , " . ... , , . ". , . . 16.01.2022 Saint Mamas the Martyr Saint Mamas of Caesarea was martyred c. 275 at the age of 15 in Cappadocia. He preached Christianity during his teenage years, and a lion... from the fields is said to have remained with him as companion. In iconography, his attribute is the lion. He is commemorated by the Church, with his parents martyrs Theodotus and Rufinaon, on September 2. Saint Mamas is honored throughout the Orthodox world, but he is especially dear to the Christians of Cyprus. According to one source, all of the churches and chapels named after him in Cyprus total 66. His Monastery and tomb in Morphou, Cyprus, is a great pilgrimage (supposedly the third most sacred pilgrimage in North Cyprus, after St. Barnabas' tomb at Famagusta and Apostolos Andreas Monastery at Karpaz), and many people there and throughout the world are healed by this great Saint. (Sources: www.orthodoxwiki.org and www.full-of-grace-and-truth.blogspot.com.au) May he intercede for all of us!

13.01.2022 ENTRANCE OF THE THEOTOKOS INTO THE TEMPLE Saturday, 21st November: Matins and Divine Liturgy 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. The Feast of the Entrance into the Temple of Our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary is celebrated on November 21 each year. The Feast commemorates when as a young child, the Virgin Mary entered the Temple in Jerusalem.... The birth and early life of the Virgin Mary is not recorded in the Gospels or other books of the New Testament, however this information can be found in a work dating from the second century known as the Book of James or Protevangelion. When Mary was three years old, Joachim and Anna decided that the time had come to fulfill their promise and to offer her to the Lord. Joachim gathered the young girls of the neighborhood to form an escort, and he made them go in front of Mary, carrying torches. Captivated by the torches, the young child followed joyfully to the Temple, not once looking back at her parents nor weeping as she was parted from them. The holy Virgin ran toward the Temple, overtaking her attendant maidens and threw herself into the arms of the High Priest Zacharias, who was waiting for her at the gate of the Temple with the elders. Zacharias blessed her saying, "It is in you that He has glorified your name in every generation. It is in you that He will reveal the Redemption that He has prepared for His people in the last days". Then, Zacharias brought the child into the Holy of Holies - a place where only the High Priest was permitted to enter once a year on the Day of Atonement. He placed her on the steps of the altar, and the grace of the Lord descended upon her. She arose and expressed her joy in a dance as wonder seized all who saw this happen. The Virgin Mary dwelt in the Temple for nine years until, reaching an age for marriage, she was taken from the Temple by the priests and elders and entrusted to Joseph as the guardian of her virginity. The Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple signifies her total dedication to God and her readiness for her future vocation as the Mother of the Incarnate Lord. This is a feast of anticipation. As honor is shown to Mary, the faithful are called to look forward to the Incarnation of Christ, celebrated in a little more than a month by the Feast of the Nativity on December 25. 09.01.2022 Message from Archbishop Makarios of Australia concerning International Youth Day Today is dedicated to the youth; to the most active and creative building blo...ck of any society, to the most beautiful and fragrant blossom that adorns the garden of humanity. It may seem trite but we must repeat it at every opportunity: Our young people are our hope for the future. With this admission, comes a great responsibility for all of us: Firstly, to listen to our young people; to listen to their anxieties and to share their concerns. And then to try and meet their needs and, at the same time, to generously offer not only the material but primarily the spiritual provisions that will be useful for them to create a better world than the one they receive. In other words, we have a responsibility to give them their space in the present world. The space they need and the space that they deserve. Personally, from the moment I arrived in Australia, I have prioritised to direct the focus and resources of our Holy Archdiocese to provide support and spiritual guidance to the young people of our community. Through a series of initiatives, we have tried as a local Church, with our local Bishops and priests, to reduce the distances and break down the barriers in order to bring the new generation closer to the way of Christ. We have tried to inspire the new generation but we also rely on the enthusiasm and joy of our youth. So, on the occasion of this International Day, I feel the need to reaffirm my confidence in the youth and to pledge that their voice will always be heard in the Holy Archdiocese of Australia. Our Church will always have her arms open to embrace them with affection, to empower them, to give them the space they need, to give them a say and a role for the future. Above all, to give them Christ.

Today's anniversary, which coincides with the feast of Her Holy Protection is another reminder to all that in the critical moments of history, the Blessed Theotokos with Her grace fortified and sheltered the Nation of Greece". - Archbishop Makarios of Australia on the 80th Anniversary of the 28th October 1940
