22.01.2022 Congratulations to Saints Monarchs players Sarah Dash and Steph Conlon for making the Melbourne Ice Women's Team (MIW) roster for their 2019 season! One of our Saints Junior Academy players Amelia Grigaliunas also made the MIW roster for development at just 12 years old! We would also like to proudly announce that the club has decided to sponsor Sarah and Steph to help cover the costs of interstate travel and other expenses involved with being on the main team roster. 22.01.2022 After many years and plenty of time dedicated to the club, we would like to officially announce that Georgina Shaw decided to step down as the club's secretary. Georgina was on the committee as long as I can remember and an important part of the club for the entire duration of my membership. As a committee, we made the decision to make Georgina a life member as recognition for her time and energy. She will be awarded a trophy at the Summer Presentation night! She's also the f...irst female life member at our club, which I'm sure there will be many more to come! Marty Truman will be taking over as club secretary, graciously accepting the role with a bit of a nudge! Marty has been with the club for about as long and we make him sit in net for us already, so it's very appreciated! -Spenser

21.01.2022 We are proud to announce that after three years of our Saints Junior Academy holding up the flag for junior club hockey - we will be amalgamating with the Braves Ice Hockey Club and Demons Ice Hockey Club into the IceHQ Junior League! This is a huge step for junior hockey in Victoria - developing players under a club banner, the way it should be. A huge thanks to Dave Papas for all the work he's put into the juniors over the past three years! He will finally be able to watch ...his son and the juniors play hockey instead of needing to constantly organise and be behind the scenes!! We would also like to thank Ross for providing a comprehensive and cohesive option for the clubs to effectively return junior hockey to us. The Contractor ( IHV Administration Services Contractor) will provide the following Services to and for IHV: Create, coordinate... and administer the summer, winter, women’s and junior season Scheduling games, trainings, make up games and events for all stakeholders Rostering off ice officials Liaise with IHV referee administrator to ensure referees are allocated for games and events as required rostering officials for on ice (Summer only) Liaise with IHV eSportsdesk administrator to ensure all participants are registered and the games are correct Create weekly game flyer for the communications team reconcile the rink invoices with the current IHV schedule and provide a breakdown of the rink invoices to the treasurer Provide an ice time usage list to the treasurer for invoice creation Oversee & coordinate ordering of medals and trophies and collection in a timely manner. communicate placings for finals Ensure the trophies are accessible at the GF and patrons are invited Drive the trophies to the supplier for engraving or plates after the finals Attend IHV Executive and Committee Meetings Liaise with the rinks at the beginning of each season about ice time availability all summer league communications league dispute management (Summer All communications to clubs and executive with updates & issues in a timely manner gradings, general issues) coordinate the draft Oversee & coordinate the winter draft Oversee & coordinate the email database, send out information in a timely manner for all events, leagues and tryouts Adhoc tasks as directed by the executive from time to time Answer email enquiries from time to time as sent by the executive All questions should be directed to [email protected] ****Updated information****** The position averages approximately 29 hours per week, with flexible working times. Our busy times are around season preparation which Feb/Mar and Aug/Sep. The bulk of the tasks occur during the week, however as the sport is weekend based, some interaction may be required over the weekend. IHV does not have an office, the contractor will be required to provide their own locale and equipment. Additionally, you need to have an ABN, invoice IHV and assume responsibility for your tax. Remuneration - around $60k IHV utilises Office365 for our infrastructure plus Xero for our accounts. We have approximately 600 skaters per season Winter and Summer. At our size we do not have a CRM or scheduling systems. The closing time for applications has been extended to CoB Friday March 6. 15.01.2022 To all Saints Monarchs, IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: COVID-19 In light of the recent Government decision to restrict gatherings of 100+ people, Ice Hockey Victoria has decided to postpone a number of upcoming sessions for the safety of our community and their extended families:... 1. All Finals matches that were due to be held this weekend (22nd and 23rd of March) 2. The Winter Draft skate that was due to be held on March 30th 3. The coaches course that was due to be held on the 4th of April 4. The para-hockey and Goalie Courses to be held on 22nd March and 4th of April Until we get a clearer view of the situation from the Department of Health and the Department of Sport on what we should do - the new dates for these sessions will be pending. Moving forwards we will be considering our options with regards to the upcoming Winter Season and plan to make a clear announcement in the coming days. This will include but is not limited to how and if games will be played, potential reduction / refund of fees should part or all of the season be adjusted and what will happen with national tournaments. Sadly, due to this, the club has decided to postpone the Summer Presentation Night on the 4th and the grading skate sessions on the 21st and 29th of March. The Facebook events will be deleted and will not be re-booked until we have a clearer view of the situation in the coming months. Distance yourself from others and self isolate as much as possible to protect not only yourself, but more vulnerable people in your life and local communities. If you do plan on attending any sessions still floating about the place, such as OBI's or IceHQ's drop-in sessions (which until further notice are currently running) please remember: - If you, a family member, or close contact are unwell (experiencing fever and/or upper respiratory symptoms such as cough or sore throat) please do not attend, participate in, coach, officiate, or spectate training or games - Ensure that IHV is informed if anyone is tested positive to Covid-19 so we can inform those exposed and adjust our strategy accordingly. - No sharing of water bottles - No sharing of whistles (for coaches and officials) - No handshakes before or after games Gloves to remain on, and a simple touch of gloves, or a stick tap is appropriate. - Wash hands frequently (hand sanitising stations, sinks, and soap are readily available throughout facilities) - Cough/sneeze into your elbow rather than your hands - No spitting at all There will be an official post from IHV later today. It's an unfortunate circumstance we find ourselves in and hope everyone stays safe and smart. We will be able to pull though this and can look forward to hockey being back on soon! -Spenser

13.01.2022 ! Saints-Monarchs AGM Announcement ! Last night the Annual General Meeting for our club was set for 1pm (AEDT) on Sunday 01/11/20. At this point in time, this will likely be held as a zoom conference call due to the current covid restrictions. However, pending government guidelines after the announcement at the end of this week, we may be holding a BBQ with as many people as we are allowed. 07.01.2022 To all Saints Monarchs, In light of the current situation regarding COVID-19, I would like to update everyone on our current plans. As it stands, our grading sessions on the 21st and 29th of March with be proceeding as planned.... The same goes for our Summer Presentation Night on 4th of April. We will be closely following the government's suggestions and taking into account the responses from Ice Hockey Victoria and the venues the events are being held at. At this point in time, the grading sessions and presentation night are low risk - well under a 500 person gathering. Any new information will be assessed and our response will be updated here. Please, if you show any signs or symptoms of a flu (such as an increased temperature, cough, runny nose, sore throat, etc), do not attend these events. It has also been advised that if you have travelled overseas in the last 14 days (or come into contact with someone that has) to self-isolate and refrain from attending these events. If you aren't able to attend one of the grading skates because of the above reasons, please contact [email protected] and hopefully we can arrange an alternative consideration for your place on a winter team. 05.01.2022 The Victorian Ice Hockey Community has come together in support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. The Tempur Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs will kickstart... the rivalry in 2020 with a game on Sunday 19th January, 4PM at O'Brien Icehouse. All proceeds will go to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Tickets on sale from Wednesday 8th January at OBI $25/head. Ticketing link to follow in the next couple of days.
