23.01.2022 SA Kids Connect is made up of two staff, Kirsty Knight and Marilla Stain. Kirsty is an Occupational Therapist with over 14 years experience working with children in a range of community based settings. Marilla is an early childhood consultant with over 20 years experience working with children and supporting families in a range of different settings. We have developed a unique group program; this program evolves with the individual and the group.

23.01.2022 The social skills groups we offer, called Kids connecting socially, is a unique program that is ongoing and play based. There is a strong focus on self awareness and sense of self. The structure of the program remains the same each week however, content and delivery will vary including; Direct instruction, visual strategies, social stories, incidental and explicit teaching. We use a range of tools and resources including many from Alex Kelly's TALKABOUT program and Jed Baker's social skills resources. Areas covered in the group include self awareness ( learning about self and others), everyday social skills, self esteem, verbal communication, body language, play skills, assertiveness and play skills.

We have had a very successful year with our families and children exceeding progress by generalising skills learnt and transferring to other environments. ... However, as you are all aware development of social skills for an individual with an ASD is a slow process and can take many years to learn the intricacies for success later in life. At SA Kids Connect we endeavour to create a space that is organic with many and varied play opportunities for children to practice and learn. We would like to ask those of you who may be interested in a pre school group next year. Age range could be 3-5 years old.
