25.01.2022 Please share with family and friends looking for a position at Salamander Child Care Centre.

24.01.2022 Evening all. We just wanted to share with you a quick video from Teacher Tom regarding grit and perseverance. We hope you enjoy. https://parenttv.com//how-grit-and-perseverance-are-devel/

24.01.2022 At Salamander Child Care Centre, the children learn to be creative and be inspired to try new things Our children in the Melaleuca Room have created 4 artworks together. This was an opportunity to learn about different ways to paint: Choose a subject matter.... Be inspired to use a particular medium (materials). Plan (how to do it?). Reflect and change. The children were excited to participate in particular artworks that took their interest, using a variety of tools, paints, colour and texture. Last week we presented the four artworks to Daniel to be displayed in the Directors Office and brighten up his space. #artisticexperiences #collaboration #sharedvision #earlychilhoodeducation

23.01.2022 What a beautiful act of kindness to receive from our good friends at Our Place Preschool. It has been a tough year for everyone, but we have got through it by supporting each other. When you have a shared goal of delivery the best possible outcomes for families and children, there is no time for competition, only collaboration. A massive thank you again to Jan and her team, your act of kindness brightened up a cloudy day. #actsofkindness #earlychildhoodeducation #ourplacepreschool

23.01.2022 Educators in the Lillypilly Room believe that for relationships to be meaningful, interactions need to be warm, caring and responsive. When attention is given to building connections and maintaining them over time, children are more likely to feel a sense of security, well-being and belonging. #EarlyLearningMattersWeek

23.01.2022 Over the past couple of weeks the children from the Bandicoot Room have displayed a strong interest in collecting natural materials to incorporate into their play, in particular natural materials from our ‘Bush Tucker Garden’. Today we investigated further into the specific plants that are in our garden and how they were traditionally used by Aboriginal people. One particular plant the ‘Melaleauca Hypericifolia’ plant was traditionally crushed up to create a paste which they used as a cream on their skin, cuts and abrasions; or to sooth headaches. It was such a great experience to be able to go through each of the steps with the children and watch as they explored their senses of smell, sight and touch to create our special Melaleuca cream. #NAIDOCWeek2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe #earlychildhoodeducation

22.01.2022 The children in our Melaleuca space have been exploring different art techniques. Today the children applied their new knowledge to create the Aboriginal flag for their room. We are grateful to play and learn on Worimi land. #NAIDOCWeek2020 #teamwork #teamart #artisticexperience #earlychildhoodeducation

22.01.2022 Children are critical thinkers from the moment theyre born, each being unique in their own way.

22.01.2022 The Melaleuca room believe learning is about encouraging children to explore and be curious about the world and using the environment to build on their knowledge Hey this is like the Y in my name #EarlyLearningMattersWeek

22.01.2022 Salamander Child Care Centre would like to acknowledge the Worimi people who are the traditional custodians of this land. Thank you for the sky. Thank you for our earth. Thank you for our friends. Today we play, learn and grow on Worimi land. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Today marks the start of NAIDOC Week 2020. We will be using this week to shine a light on the amazing work our educators do every day, to help develop the knowledge and under...standing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture throughout our Centre. As part of our commitment to Reconciliation beyond NAIDOC week, we are delighted to announce that all of our Educators at Salamander Child Care Centre (including our wonderful casuals), have been enrolled in an Indigenous Cultural Awareness Course through @yourmoblearning.org. Our journey towards Reconciliation does not have a final destination, however, we will continue to take steps every day. Always Was Always Will Be.

21.01.2022 Today marks the first day of Chinese New Year. We’d like to say a big thank you to Jasmine and Ringo for coming in and teaching our children and educators in the Melaleuca room about the origins of Chinese New Year, some Chinese language, and making dumplings. They were delicious! We love learning about the richness of culture and are grateful to add to our knowledge and ways of being. #earlychildhoodeducation #eylf #celebratingculture #meaningfulexperiences #familiesaspartners

21.01.2022 The children in the Seastar room have been learning all about space and the solar system. This interest really took off like a rocket ship! Its amazing how one interest project can incorporate so many learning areas for our children. From our rocket science experiments, to our artistic exploration of making paper mache planets and learning language, literacy and numeracy through book and song, there is so much to learn! Now we wonder, where else will this learning take us? To infinity and beyond I’d say!

21.01.2022 We have up cycled our old oven and added this to our mud kitchen which embeds sustainable practices into our environment. #savingtheearth

18.01.2022 The children from the Lillypilly Room venture out beyond the Centre to discover and appreciate the land that we play learn and grow on, Worimi land. The children noticed some wonderful aspects of our natural environment which sparked their curiosity. Natalie also shared her knowledge with the children about the traditional use of paperbark for bandages by the traditional owners of the land. 13.01.2022 Through conversations and the storybook Sorry, Sorry educators are fostering authentic conversations around concepts of reconciliation with the children in the Banksia room. Working together in kindness to take better care of our world and listening and learning from our First Nations people being two major themes. This has led to walks on Worimi country, collecting rubbish to dispose of or recycle correctly. Here are some of their thoughts and ideas; Milly, We don’t take too many shells off the beach because the Sea will get angry, London- And the crabs need them for homes Riley We need to dig a hole and plant trees. #NAIDOCWeek2020 #earlychildhoodeducation #reconciliation

Kate Washington opened our covered outdoor art space, thanks to an $8,000 Building Communities Partnership Grant from the state government. The children thanked Kate with a bouquet of native flowers, a delicious cake and an enthusiastic song!

07.01.2022 A great chef can be hard to find, but find one we did and this week Chef Ness celebrated 5 years at Salamander Child Care Centre. We are so fortunate to have Vanessa in the kitchen preparing deliciously nutritious meals for all of your children. Thank you for everything you do Vanessa and here is to 5 more years!

07.01.2022 The Melaleuca children are learning about being advocates for fairness, developing strong viewpoints about injustices within our world and how we can make a difference. We have been inspired by reading the Little People, Big Dreams book series on how people have overcome adversity and hardships to make a change in our world. We recently learnt about Vincent Lingiari’s land rights protest and the success he had through his activism, by listening to Paul Kelly’s song ‘From... little things big things grow’. This re-enforced the message one person can stand up and make a difference and that one person, could be us. #advocatesforfairness #changeagents #leadersoftomorrow #innatelywiseandcapabke #earlychildhoodeducation

05.01.2022 If 2020 taught us anything, it is the importance of resilience. Resilience in children, as in adults, can help them to overcome adversity and stressful situations in their lives. Luckily, resilience is not just something we are born with or without. It can be developed when children are given access to the right experiences, environments and relationships. For more information regarding resilience and how you can help your child build resilience, check out this link: https://healthyfamilies.beyondblue.org.au//building-resili
