23.01.2022 We hope you take the time to visit Salamander Bay Recycling during the school holidays. We’re open over the weekend as usual (9.00-4.00 Saturday and 9.00-2.30 Sunday) but closed on Monday for the public holiday; so come on in and grab a bargain or 6 as soon as you can.

21.01.2022 Since July 1st 2020, Salamander Bay Recycling has pledged to donate in excess of $20,000 to local good causes. Last month the Board donated 2 x $2,000 scholarships to the 2020/2021 Port Stephens Council Mayoral Awards program; which provides a platform for local businesses to support the academic journeys of local students with $2,000 scholarships. We are proud to have participated for the last 7 years.... At the most recent Board meeting on Monday 28th September, the Board agreed to donate $5,047.80 to Nelson Bay Cricket Club - Jnrs for the purchase of brand new covers, which will protect the wickets at Salamander Sports Complex and the Don Waring Oval at Tomaree. We also agreed to donate $5,991.00 to Karingal Preschool Nelson Bay Inc. This money will go towards paying for a much-needed revamp to the exterior paint of their building’s facade and a replacement circle mat for use during children’s gathering time. Last but by no means least, the Board agreed to support the Breakfast program for disadvantaged children at Soldiers Point Public School (which is being organised by the P&C). We will pay $5,000 ($1,250 for each of the upcoming 4 terms) to ensure that local children don’t go hungry and get a good start each morning. Thanks go to you, our invaluable customer base; because without you, we would not be in a position to support those in our community who need a helping hand.

21.01.2022 We’ve got some great, preloved furniture in store at Salamander Bay Recycling. Pop in and grab awesome bargains and help us reclaim some storage space in our furniture shed again. 21.01.2022 As we begin to gear up for the busy Christmas period; Salamander Bay Recycling is calling on locals to volunteer at the Centre. The impact that COVID-19 has had on the volume of material coming through the gates has been incredible. Lots of people, have had lots of time over the last 6 months to reassess their circumstances and have taken the time to clear out a lot of gear from garages, sheds, rooms, houses and businesses.... So we’re on the hunt for community-minded folks to help us out. If you have a bit of spare time up your sleeve and are keen to dig in, we’d love to hear from you. https://www.portstephensexaminer.com.au//give-a-little-ga/

09.01.2022 In 1990, Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore raised a few eyebrows with their iconic pottery wheel scene in the hit movie Ghost. We’ve just recently picked up this beautiful old pottery wheel; so for $250 you could re-enact that classic moment time-and-time-again... or you could just make some vases and plates.

08.01.2022 Our beloved former Chairman, Alan Cloke, passed away recently. Alan’s contribution to the growth and success of Salamander Bay Recycling, over the last decade or so, cannot be understated. As a volunteer Board member, his invaluable insight, friendship and commitment will be sadly missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.... With this in mind, the centre will close at 2.00pm on Friday 17th July; which will allow staff and volunteers to join his wife Lorraine, and his sons Brian and Kevin in an on-site celebration of a life well-lived. Vale Alan...
