21.01.2022 In these challenging and unprecedented times things are changing on a daily basis. Yesterday the Hockey Victoria Board met to discuss their position for the hockey programs they delivery. Last night they announced that they will be ceasing all Hockey Victoria programs (Hockey Roadshows, Trials, etc) and postponing the commencement of the Hockey Victoria Season until Friday 1 May. While it hasn't been formally announced it is anticipated that the East Gippsland Hockey Associat...ion will follow this and also postpone the commencement of our season until this same date which would have been Round 2 of the current draft draw. Hockey Victoria will be making further announcements in the coming days regarding State Championships (JCC, JSC, SCC). Pending the outcome of this, and there are no further postponements, the full season might be achieved with the later start. https://hockeyvictoria.org.au/news/covid-19-information/ With this and our program about to break for the school holidays all Sale Hockey Club programs will be postponed until further notice aiming to re-commence the week of the new season start date. We understand that we all love your hockey and many will miss their weekly hit. Sport and Physical Activity play an important for the communities health and wellbeing. We have put together a range of drills that everyone can do at home on your own or in small groups. There are also some hockey related fitness activities. Social distancing is important and to make this easier to achieve this, we have changed our venue for our AGM scheduled for Thursday 26 March commencing at 6:30pm. The AGM will now be held at the GRSC Stadium to the multi-purpose room (where we held the presentation day last season). Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. 16.01.2022 Club Officials and the EGHA met last night to progress the discussions on the 2020 season. About 50% of our participants responded. We had a mixture of responses with some happy to extend the season, for others this wasn't suitable. There was a desire for finals playing double headers every second week wasn't suitable. This has resulted in 10 rounds of hockey over 9 weeks and no finals for 2020. The team on the top of the ladder will be declared premier. In an unprecedented ...year there was no perfect solution. Now it is time to turn our focus to being able to play hockey. The season will commence on Saturday 25 July (possible games on Friday 24 July) and conclude on 19 September.

16.01.2022 Have a watch of this video from the CEO of Hockey Victoria, Andrew John Skillern. While parts of it is about getting metro hockey back-up and running. Any Sale HC member who successfully completes their coaching and umpiring accreditation will have their course fees reimbursed. Contact the club via [email protected] if you are interested in participating in these online development opportunities.

16.01.2022 Excitement is brewing at local hockey clubs, with the sport set to resume senior and junior competitions next month. The East Gippsland Hockey Association met... with clubs on Tuesday night to facilitate a return to play, which will see a 10-round season across nine weekends, including one double-header. The EGHA is currently working on a fixture for the 2020 season, with the opening round scheduled for July 25. In order to allow enough time for a season to be fitted in before the term three school holidays, no finals series will be played in 2020. For more read Friday's Gippsland Times.

15.01.2022 As the world celebrates International Women's Day it is timely to share a survey the club is conducting as part of our involvement in the State Government's Quick Wins program that looks at ways we can achieve better gender equality. All current and past players and parents are encouraged to complete this short survey that should only take a couple minutes. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7MDYVDF

06.01.2022 The Sale Hockey Club would like to wish our amazing mum’s a great big Happy Mother’s Day. While we are unable to get together to celebrate all the work our mum’s do for us and the club, we are excited to announce the launch of the Glen Eli Rose ‘Celebrating Women’s & Girls in Hockey’ Program. This has been possible thanks to the generous sponsorship by Life Member, Ross Gordon Meredith. The program will increase the opportunities Women and Girls have to participate in hockey.... The founding sponsorship will enable the club to provide separate Women’s & U18 trainings, hold a ‘Celebrating Women & Girls’ round (including an alternate playing shirt) and hold girls only clinics/round robin for the next 3-4 years. Girls from across the region will be invited to participate in the clinic/round robin. The club is currently working with Ross to develop branding for the program that will enable us market it to other potential partners enabling it to run for many years to come.

05.01.2022 Following the Victorian Government's announcement today about adjusting some of the restrictions that are in place we are now a step closer to returning to hockey. The most relevant announcement relating to hockey is that from 11:59pm on Tuesday 12 May, outdoor activities can to be held with groups of up to 10 people while still maintaining social distancing rules is the. There are still details that need to be confirmed on how the new, eased restrictions apply to hockey. F...or example, can a hockey pitch be divided into 4 zones, with 10 people training in each zone while still maintaining the social distancing rules; does a coach count as one of the 10 people; can players access toilets, etc. Hockey Victoria have recommended that club programs don't commence until next week to allow sufficient time to work through these details. We will be meeting with Council this week about when access to facilities will be enabled. In line with this, the club is working towards commencing training the week of 18 May pending further clarification and direction being received. The association is also seeking feedback from participants on the season for when it can commence. This will assist them in their decision making. Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TV33635 to complete this important survey. The club looks forward to seeing you on the pitch in the near future. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

05.01.2022 Like other organisations, we have been monitoring information regarding COVID-19 as it comes to hand from relevant authorities including Hockey Victoria. Based on the latest recommendations from Sport and Recreation Victoria (https://sport.vic.gov.au//arti/update-11-march-coronavirus), Hockey Victoria has advised it is 'business as usual' for now. As it stands, all our current programs and training will continue as usual. We will continue to review the situation and update... this status if the advice was to change. We do ask that all participants practice good hygiene before, during and after training. This includes all participants to bring their own drink bottle to training and avoid the use of the drinking fountain at the ground. If anyone is feeling unwell, please stay at home. See the below link from Hockey Victoria https://hockeyvictoria.org.au/news/covid-19-information/ and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

05.01.2022 6 months ago tonight was to be the last training session for teams preparing for the EGHA Grand Finals on Saturday. Our Women and Men will hold onto the premiership cup/shield for 1 more year after the 2020 season came to a standstill before it started. I've pulled out some photo's from the past years. Feel free to add photo's and memories from past years and celebrate the success the club has had.

04.01.2022 Time to cap off a great year for the club.

04.01.2022 Reminder we have Hookin2Hockey again tonight. Last week we had a great turn-out. It isn't too late to register. The sooner you register, the sooner you receive your stick, bag, ball and shinguards. Visit www.hookin2hockey.com.au We start at 4:15pm.

03.01.2022 See below an update on Sale Hockey Club's resumption of training activities. A requirement for us to commence training, we need develop a Return to Play Plan based on the guidance provided in the Hockey Victoria Return to Play Plan, Sport and Recreation Victoria, Department of Health and Human Services and VicSport. We are close to finalising this plan, but are awaiting some additional information from facility managers. The plan needs to be submitted to both Hockey Victoria... and the East Gippsland Hockey Association before we commence any program. As we haven't been able to achieve this, we will need to delay the commencement of the restart of club training. We understand that many of you are keen to get back out on the field, and we appreciate your patience during this time. We also thank everyone who has responded about training. As we are limited to 10 participants per session, it is important we have a clear understanding of who is keen to train. This will enable us to schedule sessions. If you haven't responded to the email last week, please do so ASAP.

03.01.2022 While it is still unknown when club activities can resume it is still important that we keep ourselves active. What are you and your family doing to stay hockey ready?

02.01.2022 Reminder that there is no training for the next couple weeks. Stay tuned in the coming days for further information about the season ahead.

02.01.2022 The Victorian Government have released an update on the return to sport. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Melbourne and some in regional Victoria, contact training and competition has been delayed. The EGHA junior season will still commence on 25 July. With no women's or Opens game there will be a slight change to some game times. As more details are released for senior sport we will work with the EGHA on what options are available for our Women's and Opens teams.

01.01.2022 With the latest restrictions being announced yesterday the 2020 EGHA season has been cancelled and our trainings will also be paused until further notice. We were on the eve of seeing our juniors take the field and many new juniors starting their hockey journey before things were shaken-up again. It was great to see so many attending trainings once restrictions allowed us and we are committed to getting hockey happening again when restrictions allow us to do so safely. Stay safe and healthy! We look forward to see you all on the pitch again in the future.

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all our hockey family and friends!!!Merry Christmas to all our hockey family and friends!!!
