25.01.2022 Hi everyone! As you may have seen on the Gippy Times page last night, the tough decision has been made to Cancel this year's Sale Show. The decision is based on our requirement to print the schedules and organise sponsors well in advance of the Show. Making this decision early allows us to consolidate our position and prepare for next year and consolidate our costs related to running the grounds only. With the Melbourne Show also having been cancelled, we saw it would be difficult to coordinate VAS entries and qualifications for the Melbourne Show. Happy to answer any questions in the comments, we appreciate all the support from the community, and apologise for the disappointment this may cause many.

20.01.2022 Thanks to everyone's amazing generosity, and the tireless efforts of the Red Cross Australia and the Wellington Shire, we now have a great amount of meals being sorted for the people staying with us at the Sale Showgrounds, as well as a number from the Relief Center at the Baptist Church. We'd like to extend an invite to any emergency service personell, VicPol or Ambulance Vic working in the area that could use a hot meal, you're welcome to come and join us at the Sale Showgrounds at about 6pm onwards for dinner. Thank you again to all of the amazing people who make this possible.
19.01.2022 Hi again everyone! I've had a message from Bonnie, our caretaker at the Showgrounds, advising that people are starting to roll into the grounds again, as many people are receiving text messages asking them to leave East Gippsland before tomorrows flare-up of Fire activity. She has suggested that if anyone would like to assist with the local relief effort, a modest amount of Slices, Snag Rolls, Quiches, Small Cakes etc for the evacuees, would be much appreciated.... To avoid the over-abundance of generosity we received last time, she has asked that people contact her in advance of making/purchasing anything, to see if more is needed. She can be contacted on 0417 575 145. Thanks all!
18.01.2022 Thank you for everyone's amazing donations, the generosity has been overwhelming, but for now we're running short of room to store it... (not a bad problem to have, given the likely need over the next few weeks, but a logistical one none the less) Keep an eye on the page, and on the local news and Wellington Shire pages for any future needs.... Thank you again to everyone who put in an effort to get donations to us. As I said earlier, Aussies are an awesome lot.
15.01.2022 An 18 minute update regarding Fires in East Gippsland from the Heyfield incident comand centre, provided to Bushfire evacuees in the Sale Showgrounds on 4th Jan 2020. (Apologies for shakeyness and poor audio, recorded on my phone) Wellington Shire Council Gippsland Times TRFM
13.01.2022 ** Update: thank you for everyone's generosity, we currently have no room for further donations at the showgrounds, as we have been inundated this morning. Please contact the Sale Baptist Church, Wellington Shire or Red Cross for further donations. ** Morning everyone! Just a quick message from the relief centres:... If anyone is looking or able to Donate anything today, they are looking for Warm Clothing and Warm bedding. This cold change has caught a lot of people out, as many left home with very little and were unprepared for a cold night or two. Also; Pencils and Colouring Books have been requested by the youngsters at the grounds and the relief centre. Donations will be much appreciated delivered to the showgrounds, at the Princes Highway end, please contact Bonnie on 0417575145 to arrange. Thanks everyone!

09.01.2022 Hi everyone! I've just spoken with Bonnie, and she has been amazed and overwhelmed by everyone's generosity! The Showgrounds has been inundated with goods, food, clothing, pet food, toiletries and blankets.... For now, we are full to overflowing with donations, and ask that anything further be directed to the other relief centres at the Baptist Church, or contact the Wellington Shire or Red Cross to see where they are needed most. Thank you again from all of us here at the Showgrounds!
08.01.2022 What an amazing sight, hundreds of evacuees, CFA and Red cross Voulenteers, and council staff, as well as an incredible team of caterers from Game of Bones and Bills Kansas City BBQ, enjoying a meal together at the grounds. Despite the hardships going on across the state, there is a lot of comradere, friendships being made, and some relief from the strain of the last few weeks. A short CFA update is being provided for those affected that are staying at the grounds now.... Thank you again to all those who donated. Aussies are an awesome lot!

02.01.2022 Today the Sale and District Ag Society says Vale to Friend and long-time Committee Member, David Lamb, who passed away recently aged 86. David has been an outspoken advocate of the Sale Showgrounds for many years, and a driving force in drumming up sponsorship for each year's Show. He was a regular at meetings, and an honorary life member of the society. He was also heavily involved with many local equestrian groups, and brings much valuable experience and expertise on their ...behalf to each meeting and Show. David's legacy will live on through the many equestrian events held at our grounds, and the members who admire his passion for local agriculture. This morning committee members, locals and friends held a Guard of Honour (from the safety of vehicles, given the COVID situation) around the arena, as David made a final lap around the grounds. The Committee offers our condolences to Davids family in this difficult time. He will be sadly missed. See more
