25.01.2022 Tonight should have been the opening night for The New Moon. Instead we hope to be able to bring this production to you all on Thursday November 19th. 22.01.2022 Sadly the 2020 season was not to be. This week should have seen the opening of our second show for the year, but the health and safety of our supporters and cast and crew, and that of the general public, must be our priority, so Ruddigore was cancelled. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee our intimate theatre will be perfectly "covidsafe" for whatever guidelines will exist in November - our gypsy crystal ball is still a bit blurry on this one! So for the good of all involv...ed we have decided to do the socially responsible thing and keep the curtain closed on 2020, and hope for an improving situation in 2021. At this stage we plan to bring you the much awaited New Moon in April. Watch our Facebook page for more news! In the meantime, we hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy as we traverse this unusual socially distanced year.

22.01.2022 Springbank Secondary (formerly Pasadena High and Daws Road School) is the home of the Tower Arts Centre where we perform operettas, musicals and variety shows three times a year. This small school offers a good learning environment for many students who may not do so well in a larger school, and has a special focus on disability, and of course DRAMA too ! We not only risk losing a special choice in local education, but also the future of our theatre, storage, and workshop... is at stake. Schools are so much more to their local community. SA Light Opera has been entertaining folks here since 1983, and a big part of this community. Please show your support for the youth of the school, and the bigger picture of all those interacting with this community asset - write a quick submission supporting the school to the review committee, write to your MP, hop on talk back radio, wave a placard... support the Friends of Springbank Secondary College . Don't let this little school with a big future get squashed for a quick buck ! ! ! And we hope to see you all back at the Tower Arts Centre in November for The New Moon, covid permitting

22.01.2022 The school that hosts our beloved Tower Arts Centre theatre lives on for now!!! Well done to the Friends of Springbank Secondary College for all the hard work in trying times. We look forward to seeing you all back in this lovely venue on November 19 for The New Moon.

19.01.2022 A sad day yesterday, but also a celebration of a great life, as we said farewell to Stan Hodson, life member, mentor to many, performer, stagehand, director, and friend. Our thoughts are with Doris Hodson and family at this time. RIP Stan, and thanks for the memories.

07.01.2022 Production of The New Moon postponed due to public health emergency. The Board of the SA Light Opera Society have carefully considered current events and the evolving federal and state government public health policies in dealing with the risk of spreading COVID-19. Although the Tower Arts Centre theatre seats well under the recently announced maximum of 500 people, recommendations may change, and currently do state that events of any size should only be continued if they ...can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. The well-being and safety of our audiences, cast, crew, families and friends is our priority. All our team volunteer their time and talents. It is impossible to quantify the extent of a vulnerable population within our reach, and social distancing is challenging in a small theatre setting. This is an unprecedented occurrence for all in community theatre, as usually the tradition states that the show simply must go on! We cannot however compromise the health and safety of those who support #SALightOpera, despite the many hours already put into rehearsals, costumes, and stage design. We will continue to strive to produce the delightful music and entertainment from the operettas you remember and love. We look forward to seeing you in our theatre again soon.
